Why everyone is complaining? This show has demonstrated time and again that the characters are NOT these Uber powerful gods like they are in the comics. They have 26 episode stories to write and need high stakes and entertainment. That doesn’t happen if the heroes/villains are wiping the floor with each other all of the time. Also it’s clear that the Zatanna of Season 1 has gotten far more powerful as the show has progressed.

I mean You can argue she is more creative, active and willing to use offensive spells in Season 1 to 3 rather than in Season 4. We can see she use a more blazing cauldron fire, duplicate shadow spells, using her mystic energy more. But I do like her skills got diversified in recent seasons. I like her incorporeal, forcing her enemies to fight each other spells. Also she got a lot more stamina as she can use her holy ankh more in rapid succession

Zatanna has become one of my favorite characters in this show along with Dick, Wally, and all the other OG characters. Sure this version of Zatanna isn't as powerful as her comic book counterpart, but I think it makes sense as she started out as a teenager who wasn't on her dad's level of magic. But as she grows older, she gains more experience with magic. I also think the idea of her being a teacher is pretty cool

I don’t think they did Zatanna dirty at all. She had to fight 2 chaos lords (technically all of them considering Child was backed by all of them but one) and the Emerald Empress. Also with a bunch of people way more accustomed to a dimension she was unfamiliar with. If anything, the fact she was on defense as much as she was shows the level of power the villains she was fighting against had. Zatanna was the main reason they found Conner at all. Her arc wasn’t as much about her as I think we would’ve all liked, but I don’t think they did her dirty in terms of showing off her power imo.

Hold her own is a bit of a stretch. She is still outmatched by him. She's just become knowledgeable enough to deal with the situation to not die. At very least I'm glad that Zatanna and Klarion are two of so many charachters that hold an integral part to the main plot of the season 4. 1. Zatanna's arc really set Kaldur's arc. 2. We can see why Vandal always have Klarion on his side apart from all of the Light's members (right from the 1st season). 3. The 3rd Arc really ties the red dot while building its own storyline. 4. Without Zatanna, there will be no "mission: rescue Superboy" 5. Without Zatanna's, the group wouldn't work together, be in one frame and do some cool actions that we all love. 6. Marry Bromfield wouldn't be the new furries. After Kaldur's arc, I've had enough with this show, the way they potray a lot of uneccessary things into the series etc. However, the last episode of Rocket's arc plus the beginning of Nightwing's arc, it feels like I watch the 1st season and I personally reckon that they do save their budget for Nightwing's arc. I mean look! The fight animations look dope and alive and I'm so satisfied with this season finale!

I guess I have an unpopular opinion, I don’t think Greg & Brandon did anyone “dirty” this season. I liked Zatanna’s portrayal even tho I think the ending to the arc could have been executed better. I also loved seeing Raquel she’s one of my fav milestone characters it’s a shame the legal battle w/ the Mcduffy estate lasted as long as it did or she would have been used more in season 1 as Greg confirmed on Twitter. Side note: NOBODY pays attention to the fact that Mary took a BIG shot of Klarion’s chaos energy @ 2:07. That is 100% a part of the reason she gave in to Granny goodness.

i believe so. Z did a lot of magic in this arc that’s mainly seen in telepaths. Ex: showing & revealing memories, forcing enemies to fight each other, and most likely the psychic link.
