I actually really liked Raleigh and Mako. As far as human leads in monster movies go, they didn't bore me (Godzilla) or annoy me (Transformers).

I furiously loved this movie! When I saw it, it was like I went back in time. Back when I was a kid, watching old Godzilla movies and cheering like a madman or old Gundam Wing episodes. With that in mind, I give this a BETTER THAN SEX!

Nice review, but to try and clear the confusion. They don't use swords all the time because the Kaiju have toxic blood and turns the affected area toxic aswell, so hence why they don't slash them up in the city because they don't want to turn the city toxic.

Officially 10 years old!!! My second best film of 2013 This delivers on several instances when it comes to giant robots fighting against kaiju monsters It does resemble other properties Del toro took inspiration from like Evangelion to Gundam Wing to the Godzilla flicks of TOHO The human characters are sadly so flat and one-dimensional spouting ham-fisted dialogue I really didn't enjoy the two scientists because they get annoying very fast Although Ron Perlman's small part is the most entertaining bit The pacing is also lackluster when it doesn't focus on the giant monster fights resorting to a rote story But the real reason to watch is for the giant action and special effects, it's truly some of the most exciting CGI I've seen, all the fights had their own physics and distinct feel The level of detail on the Yaegar bots and the Kaiju monsters is impressive The fact that these creatures can evolve and adapt in many ways to gain the upper hand is astonishing Danger becoming propaganda, soldiers becoming rockstars, countries putting aside old rivalries for the sake of preserving the planet Tons of action and special effects, a memorable theme by Ramin Djwadi, and opens a huge world of possibilities as far as its universe with a sense of hyper realism Very colorful, awesome set designs, very textured in its world with the costumes and technology For these humans canceling the apocalypse is still possible, being alone isn't enough, individuals even working together any challenges can be overcome, working in unison by connecting is essential The definitive summer popcorn movie but those flaws I mentioned keep it from being truly perfect Guillermo del Toro attempts to appeal to several audiences but this screams a young child's imagination come to life with an immense budget

Fact guys! The only reason the sword was the last resort was due to the Kaiju's toxciated blood. Which could deteriorate the Jaeger's metal. So... :\

The opening of the film was brilliant. I can't believe someone could feel "cheated" by getting the highlights of an entire separate movie before the real movie even starts.

I do see thier points. Some things were plain dumb, some had me scratching my head, characters were shallow and it was too long. But I got what I came for. Giant robots kicking the crap out of giant aliens. So for me, it worked. I'm not gonna run out and buy it, but it was a good time

This one is a high matinee for me which is what I paid to see it in theaters..the dialogue was goofy and nothing special just like u guys say it is but just like Cyrus said that's apart of the Kaiju genre ..i mean who ever turns on Godzilla expecting Shakespeare and if a Kaiju movie ever tried to have amazing dialogue it most likely wouldn't work...there's nothing really special about any of the characters but they're played by actors i like or love like Idris Elba,Clifton González and Charlie Hunnam,Charlie Day,Burn Gorman and Ron Perlman(with all of them except Hunnam and Day being actors i like or love in every role they're in)..the jaegers are cool as hell and the fights for the most part(even though always at night in the rain, something the second movie definitely took note of) are all dope as well as most of the monsters(though i noticed when i first saw it that they did start to run out of ideas for the monsters as the movie went on)..sure the aliens sending the monsters from easiest to hardest and mostly one at a time makes no sense and Raleigh and Yancy not making sure the first one was down is stupid and then the sword and why they don't use it all the time and why it took them so long to use it don't make sense in the movie we all know why it took so long for the sword to be used..Del Toro was saving up the best for last..the effects are amazing though and Del Toros imaginación never ceases to amaze me...190 million was too much though as there were no absolute A listers in this one it shouldn't have been more than 150 million especially when i think about District 9 made for only $30 million but at least the money is on screen but I think Del Toro works best when there's more of a limit on the effects and budgets, that's when a director like Del Toro will do all he can to squeeze every dime out to make sure his amazing imagination is on the screen so really for Del Toro I think I would've liked it more if it was 100 million at the very most..Co Host of course I love the hell out of but the main reason I don't like him is many times it just seems like he's saying things and has no solid reason to back it up and also the way he explains things many times seems like he's trying to sound smart but really isn't but this review is one where his intelligence really shines and I agree with most of his criticisms, what they said about feeling like they were thrown into the story at the end and what Co Host said about it seeming like Del Toro was making this movie as more of a closed story with no sequel in mind I mostly agree with too and what they said about being thrown in the story at the end reminds me of growing up watching the original star wars trilogy ..though I was born in 85 so I didn't have to wait as long to see the Clone Wars or the Jedi at Full Strength but still it's something I waited at least 7 years to see(I've always loved the prequels btw, to all those who have done nothing but complain about it the last 25 years I hope you're happy with the Disney Trilogy) though of course the history of this mythology is never even close to Star Wars as far as me wanting to see it...but overall this isone of the most agreeable review they've ever given as far as me damn near agreeing with everything all of them say, good and bad...u too funny Leon(stop it stop it right now) i love Double Toasted but i really miss u guys doing these reviews and having the animated reviews even though the new look in 2013 I didn't like as much as the older animation but I'm glad u guys are still around.. successful but not too successful u guys are the underground kings of Reviews and News and THANX Kylo for the uploads man

These characters were all phenomenal, layered, and the action was clear and concise. Excellent Music, Visual Effects, Cinematography, etc. Raleigh, Mako, Pentecost all had perfectly structured emotional arcs. I lost a lot of respect for Double Toasted with this review. Yeah, I know, opinions and all art being subjective, but Pacific Rim was BETTER THAN SEX DAMMIT... or at least waaaayyy better written than any Star Wars movie since Return of the Jedi and better acted than any Guardians of the Galaxy movie, even though I really liked the first Guardians. Pacific Rim was as perfect a movie on every level as you can get, whether or not you even like giant monsters and robots-type movies. Damn these guys for not paying attention!

I really did enjoy this movie and I like the cast too of this film Raleigh Becket played by Charlie Hunnam he did a great job as the main lead character role and he did a awesome job in this movie too and Stacker Pentecost played by Idris Elba he did a great job in this movie and he was awesome too as this character but he barely in it though but when he was on screen he was awesome too in this movie and Mako Mori played by Rinko Kikuchi she did a fantastic job in this movie and she was really badass in this movie and i really did like her character too and she is so incredible sexy as hell and she is so gorgeous too and I’m a fan of this actress now love her to death bro and Dr Newton Geiszler played by Charlie Day he did a great job too as well and he was so funny in this movie too and he did a great job when he was on screen and his character crack me up bro and Hannibal Chau played by Ron Perlman he did a great job too as well but he barley in this movie but when he was on screen he did a amazing job in this movie and he is a good actor too as well and I remember when this movie came out after I graduated from high school and can’t believe it’s been 10 years now since this movie came out and time sure does flies in the movie world that’s for damn sure bro and I do missed those good classic days too and overall I’m gonna give Pacific Rim (2013) a 10/10 stars I really did enjoy this movie for what it was and I had a great time watching it too but that just me though in my opinions and thoughts on this movie Kylo Spencer bro
