I kinda hope they work like them old lights did, where it started off nearly orange, then went orange-yellow, then by morning they were white, you could guesstimate time just by looking at the color of street lights, would be great to have that in PZ.

I am a bit frustrated that there is also no mention of basements even though they showed pictures of the library which increased in height. Hopefully basements come in first iteration.

First off, congratulations on surviving yet another Earth-bound orbital cycle around our giant ball of plasma Mr Duck! 🎉 🍻 And for the blog post, good grief but those map updates are looking amazing, between the building and rooftop revamps and the new lighting it's going to make the whole map look and feel amazing! Definitely going to be worth revisiting all the favourite locations to see what's new! I'm kind of glad they're splitting up the crafting into chunks like that, the whole crafting revamp is such a massive undertaking I think it'll be good to get it out to us in smaller blocks for both players and modders alike to give it a good workout. As for the last part I agree with your take on it, I understand why they want to keep quiet about deadlines and promises right now with everything, it seems pretty clear to me that they're trying to segment things more so we'll get a release of some kind sooner rather than later but it would help if they were to give consistent messaging across the board. Even a simple copy / paste statement or mini progress update on across all social platforms now and then could go a long way. Either way I'm here for it whenever it may arrive and I'm going to thoroughly enjoy the pants off it too because it's looking like a real banger! Cheers as always, mate!

I have hopes my grandchildren will see the NPC´s for the single player. That´s the only thing I care about because after a while it feels like Minecraft. Full of stuff but totally empty. Boring. Lonely, etc. And yes...I know there is the chance of playing "with friends" (typical phrase to make likeable the most obnoxious way of playing games) and stuff...but I honestly can´t think of something more anti-"my own story" than another human being laughing, making jokes or acting goofy and ruining my personal experience. I can´t care any less about 2 more floors for a building or stuff like that.

The "new" school building is the same building, minus a roof access stairwell, and with different tile textures... I don't see how they changed anything. It's still the same, big, posh school that is way oversized for the town of Muldraugh. Shame, really.

Oh, boy, that's something PZ needs desperately, way more than NPCs and Animals. Right now the vanilla maps are so empty, with buildings just too similar to each other, which makes exploration very boring after sometime. In a game like this a good, immersive map is vital to help with narrative and mood.

The devs are adding tons of explorable space upon (and possibly below) structures that that were already there for exploration. I can't deny that a place I've explored before suddenly expanding by 4X the previous amount isn't exciting. That's more supplies to gather, new places to camp and make as living spaces, more readable materials, more everything, etc. If there were a "square footage" calculator for the entire map, the game just expanded by like 6 digits. Come on, that's neat!

I get being disappointed but “said one thing and done another” is pretty unreasonable and will only contribute to people attacking Indie Stone. The quote never said they’d provide a release date in the next blog post, just that they themselves would have a better picture of it by the time the next blog post comes around. I don’t think it’s an unreasonable interpretation to come to but keep in mind it is just that, an interpretation. It isn’t what they said and the things you say in your videos, people will take at face value. Saying they’re not fulfilling their “rogue promises” (that they never even made) doesn't help, I’ve already seen people in your comments parroting these points as if it's fact.

That new lighting is AMAZING. The lighting system has been relatively unchanged since the earliest builds of the Steam release, and now the game is going to he amazingly moody. Its a shame the benefits of this arent going to matter after the power goes out, but its a welcome early game addition. They do REALLY need to tweak headlights and flashlights, though. It's still buggy and ugly. Now, the environmental lighting could use a change with the natural light. I would love to see things like emmisive snow in the moonlight. Small changes like that could go a long way for overall visual fidelity.

I'm I little upset with the idea of native revamping of the map. They will get all like chestown, a map I love but the whole map cramped is not the way. What I'm very unhappy is the love for high buildings, from experience with raven creek I think buildings higher to 5 does should be very rare and buildings should not get up to 12 no matter the engine capacity for chunk resources by the system but also by playability. For example the twins towers in raven creek how often will you go up and down? Auto build forage areas and possible auto built scenes there is huge, I hope that go first than forest auto generation because that will take long to go in the beta

After playing for only a few months on a new machine before it said goodbye and I was forced to go back to a 2013 machine…..I have one concern for Build 42 and only one. Are the devs boosting the Java memory from 3GB to……something larger or even customizable. For people running mods and easily 100-250 mods - I and plenty of others have “out of memory errors”. Wait a second I have 16gb or 32gb how can this be? Because the game was programmed with only choosing to allocate 3GB to it. This is even as of build 41.78 So my biggest interest is if we get to see greater options regarding mundane stuff in our graphics options and memory allocation options. 3GB is a joke. Even in a 2013 MacBook Pro running Windows - my 2gb video card is running at 10% and my total memory at 16gb is barely hitting 5GBS of ram being used. So even on an 11 year old machine. It can run base game as PZ doesn’t use the graphics card part of your computer as much as the CPUS and the ram isn’t being utilized as it should. So yeah, all this Build 42 stuff is great but without better options/choices of RAM and graphics card utilization - I’m afraid of looking at PZ at 12 FPS.

Lol. I mean, they are correct though. Muldraugh has always been the lower-income town out of those in PZ, and it's supposed to look a bit run-down. All the buildings need to reflect that. Doesn't mean we won't see upper-class structures elsewhere.

I started playing Zomboid a few weeks ago, and I've definitely been sleeping on it, I'm pretty decent surviving on the "Survivor" Difficulty now and my longest character has lasted 3 months now, and has over 500 zombie kills, I've dipped into mods but most just simple QoL mods like the one that lets rain wash blood off cars, and some mods to add more variety of vehicles/weapons/clothes that is lore friendly

I have not heard about any controversy? but based on what was said in this video i guess a dev told people to be quiet and wait for it? i can accept that. Just checked my steam purchase history and i bought this december 2014, updates have been slow _but steady_ ever since, there have been dry spells but every time they happened they have proven to be worth it. If im perfectly honest, i actually REALLY appreciate that when Project zomboid was suddenly the "hype game" of the week a few months ago, indie stone pretty much gave zero f*cks 🤷‍♂👍 I really hate how gaming has become subsidiary to "streamers", and how (after mostly just overhyped asset flips a few years prior) several solid games have been destroyed by there being a short hype from streamers and then no more interest in the last year or so, so i'm pretty glad that they have not done anything stupid like massively upscale their studio or sell out etc. I'm just going to keep waiting and pick the game up again when B42 releases, gives me time to play other games 😉

You mentioned the schools and other buildings being improved so it's technically on topic. If they're never going to add child zombies, they should just remove all child-related zones. What I said about the developers being likely to add queer gender junk to the game is based on some of their commentary in the forums. I have almost 1000 hours in the game. I play it almost every day. Does that sound like I don't enjoy it? The game being good doesn't mean the developers aren't making bad decisions. People are allowed to criticize things you don't personally care about.

Maybe I am wrong for thinking this, but I think after build 42 is released, the Indie stone should consider shipping the game as a full release. (I'd argue that if not build 42, then perhaps after NPCs are added to the game.) The game has already been reiterated and revamped in so many ways, it isn't even the same game it was when it first came out. The trend is likely to continue endlessly and the game will never see a full release. I am starting to think they probably need more incentive to ship out content in a timeframe that doesn't fall somewhere between the Second Coming of Christ and the death of the last black hole. Them having the ability to have some manner of income coming in from expansion-style releases might just be the thing they need. So long as it is reasonably priced, I'd be willing to pay up, personally. Especially if it meant not having to wait 5-10 years for each release. That and perhaps just consistency. Nothing is more attractive and soothing than consistency. Either way, I am super excited for the content that is being showcased. It truly is mesmerizing to see the difference and changes the game is promising to bring.

all great improvements and updates, but we want autonomous NPC's. Being alone in a city full of zombies gets boring after awhile. It'll be cool to run across npc survivors, have them join you, possibly do some cooking, etc. Help fight off a horde.

I feel IS have gone in the wrong direction with their end game content plans. Its already way too easy to become fullly self sufficient(and quickly bored) and i feel rather then going "hey, now you can craft the things you need" their should be a drive to push you out of your safe, cleared town into unknow areas and other towns to find the supplies you need. Give me a reason to end up in Louisville rather than "cos it'll be a challenge". i also worry that the crafting will be redundant i mean pottery and bower? really? i don't need a bowl and have a rilfe and 2000 rounds of ammo.

And the limo driver, motos and the semi truck from the 80s and elevators, propane gás tanks and bottles, player can clear snow, player can dig goles and place wooden spikes, rambo traps, holes where can rabits can be found, dogs and cats, train and metro station, machine gun turret, player can climbs tall trees, player can play basketball and play football with players, player can build and find boats and go fishing on boats, player can manuever construction and farm vehicles, player if digging can find secret stashes by maps and pipe sistem from house or ware house, player can play games if they reach on a arcade 80s machine, can ride skate and bmx bicicle, lots of stuff they miss from 80s....

1:30 Really do not like the reskinned Muldraugh Police station. No American police station located in Kentucky (or any other state) either in 1993 or today has that much barbed wire and security. Really hoping to be able to NOT add the new reskins.

At this point I just want someone on the team to clearly say whether they will provide estimates for b42 or not. Then we can do away with the vagueness of getting news from aggregated youtube/reddit comments. Whether b42 comes out tomorrow or next year I don't care. I just don't want to see sub-comments from the devs being posted as news.

It's weirdly one of the things I'm looking forward to most, something about the atmosphere is both nostalgic and eerie with those streetlamps Also looking forward to the map revamps. I never realized how strange the flat building look was until I saw the improvements

I'm really looking forward to the update but I agree the devs need to be more careful with their communication. When one week the devs say that there will be more information about a release date soon, and then the next week when people ask them about it they give a snarky comment in response, it doesn't feel very good. Like Lemmy said, if this was a paid DLC we would not even have heard about it yet so they need to follow their own advice and clam up! The more info and teases they give the more people will complain :/

I’m so obsessed with this game I’ve played so many hours. It’s my absolute favorite of all time. That being said, Lemmy’s response really put a sour taste in my mouth and felt really immature to me. I didn’t like that and I’m trying to just move on and pretend it didn’t happen. Trying.

I’ve just now really gotten into this game and I play with my friend. We have had hordes of zombies stop following us and disappear right before our eyes. Like we were hallucinating seeing a horde when it wasn’t real. But we haven’t had any other issues than that one.

As a Gregtech player I can not wait for this update because of its automation part of it. (Gregtech is a mod in Minecraft that allows you to create factories and automation machines if you want to look at it. I say they just finish B42 as a whole. Its already taking a while and we know its take even longer might as well wait. There are more than enough games releasing to keep people entertained while it cooks in the background. Id rather have a banger update during a period of nothing coming out vs a WIP build while there are so many good games coming out this year alone

They are taking forever to finish this new build and I'm dreading the fact that they announce new features knowing full well that, that will only lead to them pushing the build further down the line

Yeah yeah yeah, i keep hearing PZ update this, PZ update that, but I think in the entire time I've had this game installed, it's only ever showed up on my update list twice. Id rather have small incremental updates than hear about some massive update for years that never seems to actually come.
