A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ KZbin. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of KZbin I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on KZbin won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This KZbin channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. So if you like the content make sure you subscribe so you can be apart of the Rome Life Family. (Let's build our own personal Rome's together.)
What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different
This is a reaction video used to educated and give my feedback on the song and artist

It's weird trivia, but the stutter was because "Mods" in England in the mid-1960s would take a lot of speed, and one of the signs someone was really amped up on amphetamines was stuttering from trying to talk too quickly. So when Pete wrote this he was kind of having an inside joke with the Mods.

They were known for destroying their instruments onstage. There was an extra charge that the last explosion was a little too close for comfort for Pete, and did wind up with damage to his hearing. Rogers stuttering in the song is just how the song was written.

One of the great rock bands of all time, right up there with the Beatles, Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. With the exception of the Beatles, I've seen them all live in concert and The Who blew the others away. Pete Townsend is one of the great musical geniuses of the 20th century; Keith Moon is my favorite rock drummer; John Entwistle plays some of the best rock bass and Roger Daltry has one of the best rock voices and screams of all time (as shown in heir classic "Won't Get Fooled Again" - a must listen BTW).

They always used to destroy their equipment at the end of every gig, Jimmy Hendrix got the idea from them. The singer put on the stutter for effect on this single, he doesn't have Tourettes. The huge banks of speakers that rock bands use on stage were invented by a guy called Jim Marshall ( they're called Marshall Amps) because the guitarist, Pete Townsend, told him to make them for the band. They are one of the most influential rock bands ever.

Here is a cut and paste from "Song Facts" Roger Daltrey sang the lead vocals with a stutter, which was very unusual. After recording two takes of the song normally, The Who's manager, Kit Lambert, suggested to Daltrey that he stutter to sound like a British kid on speed. Daltrey recalled to Uncut magazine October 2001: "I have got a stutter. I control it much better now but not in those days. When we were in the studio doing 'My Generation', Kit Lambert came up to me and said 'STUTTER!' I said 'What?' He said 'Stutter the words - it makes it sound like you're pilled' And I said, 'Oh… like I am!' And that's how it happened. It was always in there, it was always suggested with the 'f-f-fade' but the rest of it was improvised."

The Who' first US television debut. Smashed it. Tommy Smothers introduced The Who at the Monterey music festival. He was absolutely blown away by their performance, and booked them for the Smother Brothers show. Keith paid a stagehand to put more explosives into his drumkit than safety dictated. A symbol got blown off the kit and sliced through his arm,and deafened Pete, along with catching his hair on fire. Magic!!! 👍🏽✌🏾🎸🥁🏴‍☠️

The next one you should do is definitely "Won't Get Fooled Again". No Roger doesn't have a stutter it was suggested he did that for that song, great singer he can sing deeper/lower notes than Johnny Cash. Pete is a great guitar player, and has written all of there songs, phenomenal composer. John is arguably one of the greatest bass players also known as "Thunder Fingers", he died of a drug over dose in 2002. Keith Moon is hands down the greatest drummers in history, he never practiced and he not only tried, but succeeded at matching what Pete and John played and what Roger sang,(his fills and beats) he was more of a one man orchestra than a drummer, he died of a drug overdose in 77' or 78'. No one has ever come close to playing like "Moon the Loon".

One more thing, they wrote and recorded something really remarkable -- a rock opera called "Tommy." It's astonishingly good. (It was the era of Album Oriented Rock, which is why a lot of people, I think, will send you to rock albums from the period about 1967 to 1973;) Add to that -- Pete Townshend was one of rock's three or four greatest guitarists; and Keith Moon, a truly wild little man, was one of rock's two greatest drummers -- he introduced the use of tuned kettle drums into a number of their songs, and he had wild energy on stage that drove the band. He died of abuse rather young.

In a documentary I watched once, Pete Townsend said that before they got a record deal, and were struggling musicians, the drummer, Keith Moon, too out a bank loan for a few thousand pounds [a lot of money in the 1960s] to buy a new drum set. He then smashed it up at their first gig and was left with the debt and no drum kit. Crazy guys.

The stutter was written into the lyric. The Who were the great forerunners of punk. They were British industrial kids who raised hell.

The Who were dynamite. My two favorites are "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Baba O'Reily." "Who Are You" is another good one. This song, "My Generation" is probably their lightest and simplest and does not show their fantastic instrumental effects.

Who Are You, The Real Me, Won't Get Fooled Again, Baba O'Riley, Love Reign O'er Me....The Who have tons of great songs. Roger stuttered when they were recording My Generation. They liked it and kept it. He doesn't stutter on any other song.

I've heard "This Generation" hundreds of times, but this TV recording is brand new to me. Very funny. When Pete Townshend sees this, he's probably wavering between shame and laughter. Townshend once said that television appearances in the 60s and 70s had ridiculously low salaries. They were considered PR. They were so low that the damage to their equipment wasn't even paid for. 😂

The unique thing about The Who is their bass player John Entwistle. So incredibly gifted he doesn't look at his base most of the time he plays it and he had the first base in rock history and one of the best ever. You noticed he didn't destroy his base or amp. He never did. He is legend.

I think he does that, purposefully, for this song. I've seen live stuff from them and he doesn't do it in other songs.

Must check out the other version of this song from their Live at Leeds album. A killer track with bits of other songs added to it. One bangin' melody after another.

The Move and The Who would often destroy their instruments. So many great Who songs to explore, especially from the 1970s.

The stutter was deliberate. It was to signify the communication breakdown from one generation to another. He does not have a speech impediment...it was artistic license.

This is the opening scene from a documentary about The Who called The Kids Are Alright. It's from The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. Tommy Smothers was in on all of the jokes. He was much cooler than his stage image. Roger got the stuttering from hearing it on an old blues record. It's the only song I'm aware that he does this. The vocals are live. The music isn't. They were know to destroy their instruments. It was expected. They had to stop because it cost more than what they were making. Pete was known for stealing guitars from shops in London to replace the ones he destroyed.
