That’s because any legit casino or formal game wouldn’t let you do that. As soon as you say, “I’ll see your X…” it would get ruled a call.

It would normally not be allowed at a casino/poker hall because the bettor could be looking for a tell after they say "I'll see the 10". If the player looks upset that they were called, the bettor would then throw in the raise.

I don't think Graham realized that by not flipping the cards over that he signaled he wanted to fold.
