Im a hug Beatles fan and have played in a few bands. I have followed the saga of this bass for 20-30 years. I was shocked when he got it back. It is a very distinct bass due to some work McCartney had done on in in about 1965/66. For musicians like myself who know every inch of certain instruments, the minute I saw it I KNEW it was Pauls missing bass. We were all hoping we'd see it on stage again after it was returned, and this was it. The day we've hoped to see for DECADES! The last time he used it for a proper performence-(He did mess around with it during the Let It Be session and it is seen in the movie here and there(0 was on the live performance of Revolution on the David Frost show in 1968. Bravo Sir Paul!!!

That brought back some memories from bonfires on the beaches of Okinawa with the gang and my gal while in high school on Okinawa . That was our song.

The "cursed" McCartney 1961 Hofner Bass has finally been found. Stolen from a van in 1972. All 3 of the men who had the bass were struck dead early. The widow of the last dead man remembered there was a bass in the attic. It has a broken neck, the finish is heavily cracked, but still in the original guitar case. Hofner authenticated it as the original, and it was returned to Sir Paul.
