I thank God who gave me the opportunity to watch this inimitable maestro in his heyday. In this guy the Nigerian national team was blessed with a genius of the very highest calibre, unsurpassed and unexampled in football artistry, absolutely magical, a virtuoso performer, an indescribable pleasure to watch. This guy was a generational talent, the football equivalent of a Mozart or Beethoven. We might never see such a prodigy again. I doff my hat to Jay Jay Okocha.

I'm not even from africa, but i regard him the best of the best of all time in terms of skills and talents. when i started watching football, the legendary players like maradona and pele were no longer playing. beckham, scholes, cantona made me love football and man utd, but okocha is the greatest dribbler I've seen growing up. i idolized him, and started to watch bolton matches and learned about their other great players like campo, juusi, nolan, davies. i know he's retired years ago, but this man has never gotten the recognitions he so deserved. thank you for the years of entertainment, Mr. African Magician! ♥️

He also played at great clubs, with real values and the right supporters. Eintracht Frankfurt, PSG, Bolton Wanderers. A real (self-made) man. Too bad, that commercialized football didn't let those clubs play international or get too much fame. That's why he didn't became a role model instead of Ronaldinho, Beckham and the others featured on mass TV.

JJ OKOCHA remains one of the greatest football legends the world has ever seen. The International Football Body owes him a very big apology for not honoring him with an international award. He was denied honor simply because of racism. He was a Black man from Nigeria (Africa). players of his kind comes into the world once in a thousand years. Ever since JJ OKOCHA retired from professional football, My Country Nigeria has never been able to find a replacement for him in our Nigeria National team. Jay-Jay Okocha was one of the single largest reasons why Nigerians developed an addiction to watching Nigerian football back in the late 1990's till early 2000s.

These type of midfielders are now the most in demand in football. Creative players that are confident and press resistant on the ball. Can dribble and drive the attack, never afraid of receiving the ball, could break organized midfields single-handedly, even if he sees 3 midfielders he will take on them and create space for his teammates. Pep Guardiola would have done wonders with him
@olasupoisrael92202 жыл бұрын

Exactly! He’s the player a team like Chelsea lacks. He disorientate a perfectly organized midfield and creates unexpected passes. His shots are thunderous! No, players who are wasteful flair players like him, who take too many risks in the form of long shots, dribbles, flicks, ambitious passes would be in trouble in these days, teams hate being hit on the counter and being clinical is more important than taking risks that concede the ball. Many many games Okocha was completely ineffective when he didn't have the ball much, or his team needed to play with discipline on the ball rather than flair

If you compare him to Ronaldinho he took more risks, had poorer decision making and was much much less effective with his output. An the guy was pretty useless without the ball so to get the most out of him you had to compensate in other areas of the team, and why do that as a big club when you can sign players who will be more consistent, smart and hard working and have a similar output? I am sure if there was a game today and Okocha was playing, you always know for sure you will be entertained. Football was so easy for him, he saw what many kids around him didn't see. Realmente no es tan reconocido, pero es demasiado distinto, creo que su figura irá tomando mayor relevancia con el tiempo, fue un jugador grandioso.

Jay Jay Okocha remains one of the greatest footballers that football has seen. I respect him and every memory of him in football always. A great example and model for footballers. I really wanted to see him play for more years before hanging his boots. Great man indeed!
