Main reason to eat rats is poverty there in Sudan, its visible to all as to purchase beef or chicken is beyond their budget, Mr BMG u can suggest eating green veggies like sukma, spinach as is done in kenya & other african countries with corn.

People know how to survive in Africa, making home out of mud houses 🛖 getting water 💦 from the river and taking showers too. Eating bugs 🐛 in Kenya. And eating exotic animals like monkeys. And making fire 🔥 with 🪵 woods. Also they no how to make there own toothpaste. There not afraid of not having electricity, running water 🚿 hot or cold 🥶 , or toilet paper running out .No panic attacks and worry here. So here in the USA we would not make it if the tables were turn around the other way. For sure In the USA we would starve to death. And If only the homeless people in America can build mud house too, it would protect them from the rain ☔️ and snow, just like the American Indian way back in time long ago. Africa people have survived skills They depending on there selves, because they have no choice to do so and that is remarkable and very smart people living this way. It not easy, or pleasant and life is not fair and too many people suffering, but they have a strong will to survive no matter what comes there way. 😢🫣🤔🥴😒

In Canada we don’t eat Rats but in some countries in Africa they eat Rats they are called Bush Rats, some countries eat frogs, monkey, snakes, dogs and other things it’s the culture of the country, so they will eat according to their culture.
