That was the gauls lol. With the blue paint and running mad into the Romans. But they didnt do that regulary. They were quit advanced too. But for honor they would do that knowing its their Last Run since they actually had good armour so it was on purpose to be naked

Pro tip: in the boar snout, you want to lock your shields in the opposite direction, because like that a blind man can find a gap 🤪

For weapons I would use a bow and a wooden targe shield strapped to my arm which would allow me to hold my bow in the same hand. Shoot the enemy with arrows and if they get to close, block with the targe and stab them with a seax knife.

I wonder who inspired the Vikings to become Vikings I'm wondering that what made them who they are
@MrBradleyLearningMadeFun3 жыл бұрын
That’s a bit of a philosophical question. I suppose a combination of random events through time, location, other people at the time and social and cultural evolution? Ask yourself who inspired us to be the people we are today? It’s a combination of various people, figures and role models throughout history and alive today as influential people you’ve heard of or people in your life or around you. But those role models were inspired by others who were inspired by others and so on and on way back to the beginning of humanity…at least that’s my best guess. I like the thinking though! Stay curious! 💡

@@MrBradleyLearningMadeFun The whole point on the Vikings is actually they where great at navigating and also being the best fishermen in the world. In History that time the world was small. Because we could not travel fast or far. But the Vikings - as the Frisians that time - could travel faster and more far away because they where master ship builders. Let me explain now. As a kid you can travel on a bike. And you will never leave town. When you grow up and get your driving license the world just got bigger. And you can travel more fast and further away. It's in every human to explore the world. And the Vikings where the earliest people to do so. And when you see other people having more than you, ... you steal it from them.

Before I watch the rest, I wanna see how much if Odinn's Wisdom has rubbed of on me. Mild: Of the top of my memory, Spears, swords, axes, and shields. Spicy: If I my memory serves me right, it was because they could disarm or go around shields more effectively? That and you could throw them as well. Correct me if I am wrong. Hot: Definitely an axe, were you to ask me a decade or so ago I would have said sword. But am currently in my axe faze lol

@Faramund well I work closely with jorvik in York who host yorkvik viking festival largest in europe and I been doing viking living history for 23 years And if you can't tell that boar formation is not a last resort thing or a thing for a time and place I don't no what to tell it has a massive weak link right In the middle more so then a normal solid shield wall And if you was to join one of the large groups in the uk that part take in yorvik fest they would say the same and avoid using it in reenactment cause has terrible win rate cause of it huge weak link when it does work it can be lethal. Shield wall With axe and shield and spears over the top is the ultimate combo swords for show axes for pros Axe to open the wall spear to deliver the attack

Include the Feeds / Legs as valid hitting spot though. Don't take it to negative, but the more "relaxed" pose wouldn't be that great if the others are allwoed to hit your knee caps.

Mr. Bradly, I would use my best arm to use a long axe! so I can stab the enemy from far with a short blow and even use it to disarm him from large distance. Or even grab his feet and knock him to the ground. In my other arm I would hold my shield! In wich I also hide a smaller axe. In the case I would lose my shield or if it gets broken I still have another smaller battle axe. I would never swing my axes but pike my enemy! Just a single slash to the face would hurt him so he can not fight anymore! I can block his strokes as long as I have both my axes close to my body to protect me. And while in combat I could use my axes to pike, slash, and grab their weapons. And also use my battle axe close to the head as a knife. And even use the beard of my axe to defend myself. With the love of our allfather Odin will we win all battles!

Wow!!! That’s quite the battle plan there!!! Do you take part in the Viking fights also? Thanks for sharing 👊🏻

This is like 90% holly wood BS. The Bjornserkr was not a frothing madman who went into a blood rage during battle. From what we have learned from the epics, He was a strategist, a poet, an advisor, and a duelist/chieftains champion. He may have served as his chiefs bodyguard, or been sent on covert missions. In one of the tales the Bjornserkr mocks an enemy who has gone into a rage and is biting the edge of his shield by calmly walking to him and kicking the bottom of the other mans shield up into his skull, killing him. Also, you only get 50% credit for the shield walls, Vikings didn't use them,. there is no evidence that they did at all, they did use tactics to break a shield wall though, like the boars snout. If you think they made a shield wall, and then broke formation to make a whole new formation, and their enemies just say back and went "Yeah ok." Then I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. Vikings preferred to break shield walls and descend into individual combat. They were not formation fighters like mainland Europe.
