That opening and Ed's introduction of Johnny will forever hold a special place in my heart. I was a young boy when I first heard it, and I was a young adult when Johnny said goodbye. I remember being very sad when Johnny died. That's quite the impression from someone I'd never ever met and didn't even know.

One of the best TV shows ever. Glad I watched it when it originally aired. Watched Johnny Carson from the 70s until he retired in the early 90s. He was hilarious.

I love Johnny Carson and watched the "Tonight Show" hardly ever missing an episode. When my wife and I visited California, we stood in line for hours to see Johnny in person twice. I couldn't even begin to describe how thrilled we were, to be there and watch him emerge from behind those famous multicolored curtains. I suppose learning much later what a jerk he was off camera doesn't diminish the memories of that time and, in fact, I know it doesn't. I still thoroughly enjoy watching his reruns this day.

I remember 1990 being a year when it seemed like Carson's "Tonight" show really stepped it up in sketches and guests. I can see why this anniversary focused on moments from the previous year. This is one of the best anniversary shows that Johnny did.

I gotta say that Carson was one really strange dude!!!! All that money and not an ounce of love, enjoyment or pleasure, not to mention no relationship with his children, just like that clown Jerry Lewis!!!! He died alone on the back of his boat that i believe was tied up behind his house, wow, what a mental case. To think of all of these types of people who get destroyed mentally by too much money and fame, he's a prime example of that, he was so damaged psychologically. His whacky mother made it impossible for him to even have any kind of healthy relationship with a woman, what a weak man he was😮
