You could always try get some neutral white tiles in same size if you want more backslashs height?
@Andypandypie7 күн бұрын
What about replacing the silver screw cap covers on the splash back with white ones? Should hopefully make it a little more subtle 🙂 could maybe even spray them white if need be. Another idea could be taking the glass off and putting a window decal/film on the glass,bonus to that is theres endless designs to choose from and it would be easy to remove and change the design if you get bored of it.

Everyone loves the tiles--yes they are timeless. However, you change up things often. I don't think they will be a favorite of yours in a few years. Try placing them on a 1/2 inch piece of plywood & grout them but use mirror side mounts to adhere to wall. Then if you tire of them, the board can be removed and sold. Try the clear sheet behind the stove top, and yes maybe paint the anchors white? Happy winter !!!

Good morning! May I please add a thought or two to get your inspiration juices flowing... The vintage tiles in the kitchen will add a lot of character and will look really nice. Not loving the shoe rack. It says cheap and going for a more industrial feel, whereas your house is more classic/ vintage in style. IKEA has a narrow off the floor shoe cupboard that will look sleeper and in tune with the style of your house. If you paint a darker color on the stairs, you might lose some of that light and airy feel. However, going for two toned painting, will upgrade it instantly. Consider panneling the walls of the entrance hall and stairs and then colour drenching. This will add depth and richness and be in keeping with the vintage feel of your home. The doors in the loft urgently needs that paneling. We'll these are just my 2cents worth. Would love to see what you decide.

If I can make a recommendation about your stairs, watch a KZbinr by the name of Alexandra Gater; she’s from Toronto and has done a couple of stair renovations at her apartment in Toronto. One thing that I’ve learned about her stair renovations is that if you paint the treads a dark colour, they will show all the dirt and footprints and will wear out quickly. She’s put runners on her stairs and they look fabulous with the painted treads - edited to add that the runners can be very low pile, but the idea of putting a low pile carpeting on the stair treads also sounds like a very good idea.

Love the bloopers, Mittens definitely knew the answer. Also love the painted stairs, easier to clean than carpet. I have had cats for many years and it's definitely more maintenance. I love all your artwork and a pretty light shade of paint would look great. Love the kitchen tile idea. Those tiles are stunning. Great Vlog x

Hi Iwan, you could paint the glass splash back with the spray paint that is opaque. Remove it from the wall and do the wrong side then when it’s back on wall it might not look as blue, or the privacy film might work on the reverse.😊

The plainer tiles are beautiful, actually the floral ones are too but I think the heavily patterned ones are a bit much. If the tiles won't work how about putting some vinyl stick on wall paper behind the glass? You will work it out! Love the Shutters at the windows.

I would decide on the stair colour before choosing the wall 😁
@whatsupdoc107512 күн бұрын
Hi Mr. C! My suggestion for your stairs would be a sheet tile on the kick boards. We did that in our last home and loved it. Maybe a classic tile or black and white. Then you could put carpet tiles in the treads that could be changed out if the cats damaged them. ❤
@qkritten12 күн бұрын
I would carpet the steps fully in a medium or dark tone. It’s safer (less slippery, and I recently fell down some steps and broke my ankle 🙄) and will hide dirt and wear better than light paint. ❤
@susannal10012 күн бұрын
You could paint the spindles black or grey for a softer finish & alternate stair steps same colour to contrast. Also they say best not to put anything at bottom of stairs with sharp edges in case someone falls down them. You can get wardrobe hangers for shoes which are very good.

@sallyturner166912 күн бұрын
There’s a border tile you might be able to use to heighten your tile for the splash. And they make carpet threads. It could keep the sound and draft down. If the cats tear one up, put a new one down or hide it around the corner where it can’t be seen.😂 What else looks nice are runners. Some are held in place with something like a cafe rod.

Morning Mr C, I really like the white stairs and walls - it all looks so fresh. The trouble with changing to a colour is that colours tend to go out of fashion and it’s such a lot of work to redo, I’ve been there, I would be inclined to stick with the white as it’s light, bright and very stylish. I think the tiles in the kitchen are beautiful. Wasted sat in a box. The glass does look a bit out of place with your kitchen design. It would look great in an ultra modern one. I like the curtains in the bathroom with the drape, rather than straight, it gives a softer look. Also it's not a heavily used room, otherwise it might not work so well. It's all looking really good❤

Personally I really like the glass but the tiles are lovely too...another idea i used years ago because I didn't want tiles, was to use a very wide border/frieze of embossed Lincrusta wall paper topped with a piece of 2 inch moulding. This was all painted to match the plain wall and given a couple of coats of matt varnish. We sold the flat ten years later and it was still as good as new. Not the cheapest option but def worth the money, although as you already have the tiles it would be a pity not to use them..
@deniseowen942412 күн бұрын
I'm doing a bit of DIY with a rattan roll, to cover a storage stool, that one of our cats has used to sharpen her claws....you gave me an idea for that with the panelling too. We had a splashback made with splatters of paint pattern online, so all my always pans, are in matching pastel colours. The tiles you have and the kitchen all looks fab 💓💙💛❤ We've gone for white banisters, with painted black hand rail on the top, looks very smart, nicer than all white..

I think those tiles are stunning and would look absolutely gorgeous inset in the wall just behind the sink . If it were me I wouldn’t take them all the way to the corner because I love the beautiful paneling you have and it would look gorgeous framing the tiles. Then you can get a beautiful white tile molding to frame out the tile backsplash. The stairs and banister would be gorgeous in a black with creamy white walls the same color as your kitchen shelves with a beige carpet or thick cat proof oriental or Turkish runner that spans almost the width of the steps. Those shutters in the bedroom are gorgeous and so are the curtains in the bathroom. The shoe rack is a great idea and fits perfectly. Oh and the boot sale art is so stinking cute. I love it.

Hi Iwan,a few things...not sure about the shoe rack at the bottom of the stairs ,it's too cluttered. The en suite curtains are a no,I think you should add the white shutters in there, same as you've done in the bedroom..I think black balustrades and white walls for the stair case.No to the tile kitchen splash back,change the glass to another colour and have it go further along the bench and no screws ,get an installer to glue it properly.

Check your home store for bullnose tiles that will work with the tiles you plan to use in the kitchen. Make a picture frame border around the tiles behind the kitchen sink. You could just apply them on the left side and top, because the bottom is the sink and the right side is the wall corner. The bullnose tiles will hide the raw edges of the tiles while raising the height of the tiled backsplash to cover the mounting holes you needed to drill for the backsplash glass panel.

A DIY that would be simpler for the glass splashback...get a can of the mirror spray paint. You can spray it on the back of the glass and then use a vinegar and water solution to make it look like an old mirror. It would change the look without having to demo a section of the kitchen you have just done.
