I was a Calif. cop for 30 years (Marin and Sonoma counties) we are not all A-holes. Also been riding/owning motorcycles from Cushman scooters in the early 60's to Harleys and everything in between. I'm 76 now and still riding. I always gave more warnings than tickets to bikers.

I saw "law enforcement" personnel during the Ahmad Aubrey protests beat, shoot, and tear gas peaceful protesters who were doing nothing. So I'd say that reasonable people have good reason to think that law enforcement in the USA has gone too far. The USA has the highest incarceration rate in the world yet all I hear is that we need more cops to arrest people. How about we try to understand why people are becoming violent instead of spending money on more cops and prisons?

Cops don't know the Law. They are told by DAs to apply Color of Law (DMV Code) to non-commercial travel. This violates Title 18 sec. 241 & 242 (Treason). When cops violate their Oath its Treason, but the BAR (Attorneys) protect the cops because the BAR wants the money made under Color of Law and there is no risk to the BAR only the cops are committing Treason. Travel is a Right, no License or Tags required. Driving is a Privilege (commercial) License and Tags required. Getting criminals (cops) to obey the Law is difficult, ignoring the Law is what criminals do to be criminals. There are not vehicle Laws in the Constitution (Law), all vehicle Law is Corporate Policy (Color of Law).

@@nutssauces Stickers are meaningless and cops rarely look at them and when they do they often use them to hang you, for example they clock you at 35mph when the sticker says 28mph, as side from that a sticker is as meaningful as wet toilet paper. here in the UK as an example the legal imit for an ebike is 15.5mph and 250W yeh thats a fracking joke made up by people that have no clue but anyway my daily commute ebike is 1500w but it has a 250W sticker, ultimately such subdafuse against a cop that knows his stuff will only cause the offense to stack up

What changes is the id is a driver's license which can be asked for when you are stopped driving. Why is that so? The officer and you both did a great job interacting with each other. Attitude and acceptance is a HUGE part of the interaction with all officers. As far of the turn signals, he was incorrect. You have to signal by using your hands if you have no turn signals. Aftermarket exhaust systems are for the most part not CA. compliant on vehicles and motorcycles. I hope they increase enforcement actually. Good Job Fresno PD, and hats off to you both for showing us the right way to interact with the police.

@@MrCentralDriver - I'm guessing, your first mistake was spending time in the fast lane. It's fine to get in that lane to turn, but you stand out over there. ALL of the car traffic was distracted by the guy with the electric motorcycle with no license plate, not just the cop. Second mistake was obviously racing a loud motorcycle. Third mistake was going faster than all the rest of traffic. You have a lot invested in that bike. Ebike 750W cheaters will have to use all of our collective willpower to keep them from getting taken away.

Because he wouldn't be perceived as creating a problem. Likewise, if the motorcycle guy wasn't super loud, he probably wouldn't have bothered him about the turn signals.

There is a lot more people with a lot more that can go wrong. These laws about the bikes are actually pretty clear and mostly fair. You'd get all sorts of confused if I started telling you about weapons laws in my state of New York. I can legally shoot my high powered crossbow in the back yard, but can't target practice with a break barrel pellet gun. I can walk right into Walmart and buy a shotgun, but can't carry a knife more that 4 inches. Figure that stuff out.

I live in the Central Valley (45 minutes south of Fresno) and being a motorcycle rider, and soon to be EV scooter rider, I have to say the person shooting this video is one of the reasons EV scooters/bikes will have to be registered. The rider on the motorcycle should have educated himself on what is required to ride a motorcycle on streets/highways as well as the noise restrictions that have been passed in the recent years here in the Valley. They are both lucky they the motorcycle officer was professional, informative and empathetic because Fresno PD is known for having vehicles impounded for the slightest infractions. Both these riders were in the wrong, as is this title. The motorcycle was pulled over, not the ebike.

My state limits E-bikes to 20mph, if you can power over 20MPH, you are on a low power scooter and need a license (Don't need motorcycle endorsement for LPS) registration insurance, unless it is capable 40+ mph, or over 6080watt/50cc, then its a motorcycle.

Surrons are actually electric mopeds in both form and function--I'd buy one, but I don't want to deal with the legal headache once the gov inevitably starts regulating, restricting, or outright banning them.

I have a '77 KZ 1000 and had to put aftermarket pipes on it because they were cheaper than stock which were missing and fortunately had the same db level....this was in California back in 1990's....plus it still had the turn signals on it.....never got pulled over.

If you ride an e-bike on the street and it goes faster than 28 mph you have to classify it as a motorcycle get it registered and insured and have a motorcycle license

Fellow Fresno resident here. Way to go for that cop. Cops here are awesome, probably the nicest law enforcement around. Aside from that even through KZbin you can tell that bike is insanely loud. I could only imagine how loud it is in person.

For younger people, a Kawasaki Mach IV 750 is about as rare as a Porsche 356. Classic blue and yellow license plates as well. The expansion chamber exhaust system is tuned to help get air/fuel mixture in and out of the combustion chamber in a resonant sort of way. Kind of like hitting a note on a clarinet. They are notorious for being loud.

I worked on these back in the 70's. Replaced a lot of seized pistons/cylinders. That's why you don't see many of these, they all burned up.

Bottom line is, everybody knows that there is noise restriction limits on the books. If you ride something that you know is loud you know that you're walking the line. Whether you get pulled over or not for it, or get issued a citation or just a warning, is strictly up to the officer, and the area in which they are in which may or may not have been getting a lot a complaints about noise from the citizens there. When you play sometimes you got to pay. And those fines pay for the Police department salaries otherwise we would be paying more in taxes to cover it..

@@Matanumi I'm sorry if you've some bad experiences, but every interaction I've had has been fair and professional. But I don't stick a phone in their face, or give them any attitude. Every time I've been stopped, there's been a reason. Even with my 100 over in a 65, the first thing the cop did was thank me for stopping, and not being just another idiot endangering others in a high speed pursuit. Went to court, hundred dollar fine, and 2 points off my license. My best advice. Keep your shit up your ass.

I currently own some Super 73 ebikes and those bikes are labeled 100% street legal no registration no insurance but yet the motor is still 2000 W peak and it goes up to 32 mph. Which the limit is 750w and 28mph. I’ve even seen mountain bikes with electric motors pushing 1000 W. None of these bikes r legal to be honest lmao. But cops won’t no what your bike has. Just follow the bike laws and your good

The officer was a real professional in doing his job. Serving the community and educating on the new guidelines. I didn't even know those guidelines. this is what every officer should be like, instead of making a criminal out of everyone who are ignorant of the new laws. It would be nice if TV news channel update us on the new laws and guidelines for e-bikes. I recently bought an e-scooter 800Watts and the seller didn't know the laws when I asked, as I wanted to know what I was getting into before buying.

There are laws that limit power output and top speed of e-bikes for them to be considered "bicycles". When the e-bikes exceed these limits, they are classified as motorcycles and all equipment and rider requirements apply. The officer did a good job by issuing a warning because the goal is compliance with the law, not punishment for violating the law.

These times are going to be challenging for cops. Electric bicycles are here and they are as quick as traffic.. And at the other end of the scale, a classic vehicle from an era when emissions were of minimal interest and lights were very optional. That's a heck of a lot of general knowledge the cop's gotta have on board just to know and assess what he's looking at.

True for the most part but sadly we still have a lot of racist cops that will harass you even if you are being respectful. My friends and I used to get pulled over all tbe time in Pleasanton, CA just cause we’re Black and it’s a mainly white area. We basically couldn’t go anywhere after 9pm with out getting pulled over 🤦♂️ None of us had a record, and they never found anything on us or even gave us a ticket, they just wanted to hassle us.

Actually I would rather see more cops be stopping the tragedy's in the society. I am tired of them getting paid according to how many fines they can impose on regular good guys like these bikers. Do we really think that they care when they spend more time filling city coffers with fines on ordinary citizens Than They Do going after the idiots selling Fentenyl laced drugs or doing really evil things ? I have lived long enough & seen enough to know that most cops will not stop anyone that is really dangerous or dangerous looking unless they already have several others backing them up . Then it'll usually take all of them to handle any confrontation since the powdered sugar from those donuts makes it difficult to not have sugar in their eyes while struggling .................

Yeah. Here's my 2 cents. I built an extremely stealthy ebike. I do ride at 26 mph through 35 mph. I don't ride in the gutter or sidewalk because there's just too much glass and debris. I always pay attention and slow down when I see cops. I have eyes in the back of my head.

Thinking the same. Hundreds if not thousands of aftermarket parts that will fit on a bike with zero mods to the actual bike. Wouldn't take me 15 minutes to have turn signals all done using factory wiring, screws, holes, bolts, or studs. The exhaust is already modded so adding any muffler on it would be even easier. Every cop I've ever seen on a scooter rides them in their personal time. He knew how easy it is to mod them.

@@user-neo71665 Hell yeah. I'm a Yamaha and Kawasaki tech and I helped my boss who owns the dealership I worked at restore an old H2 so he could park it next to a new H2 in his showroom. And except for the kick start in stock trim it had everything any modern bike has. Brake lights, hi and low beams, turn signals, mirrors, all that sh!t. And if you know anything about 2 strokes you know they love a big expansion chamber and small tail pipe for back pressure. They love and respond good to mufflers and are loud as hell even with mufflers.

@@MrMatthewb9876 Drag bikes have two speeds. Off. And oh sh!t!!!!! You'd have hard time to ride them on the street. It would foul out the plugs. And before that you'd be either stalling it out a bunch or almost killing yourself. You can't roll into the throttle on a two stroke drag bike. At least not one where it's pushing so much air that mufflers are a disadvantage. But you look back at old 2 stroke motocross, superbike and moto gp bikes. All those bikes had mufflers.

The only way you are getting 750W to 50mph and 350W to 35mph is using a massive!!! 72v controller or something. And at that point the motor is peaking well beyond its nominal outputs and will surely burn out in no time. I should rephrase my comment, under normal means it’s impossible to push a 750w motor to 44mph using any conventional controller say that would be paired with a 750w motor Say 48v to 52v.

In 1981 I purchased a brand new Motobecane Le Champion and replaced every component with Campagnolo parts and an all leather with copper rivets Brooks Racing Saddle. People were amazed that I was riding, easily, with the flow of traffic. I had raced the Coors Classic for a few years and daily would ride up and down into Shoshone Falls at least three times per day. I never had a cop tell me that I was breaking the law. They were as flabbergasted as all of the vehicleites were. Sucks seeing people getting hassled!

You should always carry identification especially on a bike. I had a cousin who went out for a soda and got her car totaled. She had no id on her and the car belong to a friend who died in the crash. She was a john doe in an hospital for 9 months before she got her memory back. So just saying keep some form of Id on your runs.

It’s nice to have a “ bike” that can go with the traffic speed but I too think if you abuse it, eventually they will start regulating it. In California, they love to regulate EVERYTHING, hence the misdemeanor for modified exhaust. It started with a few cars and then every fast n furious wannabe did it and now it’s a crime. Given that they want to be green with everything, I don’t really see regulations having too much bite, but I think most drivers in the state think bikes being allowed in any lane is pretty stupid, especially when the riders think the laws don’t apply to them.

The police officer was a gentleman, that's becoming rare and you two were lucky for it. You have the Right to remain silent, that isn't usually the best option unless you're trying to piss off the police, but remaining close to silent is prudent because everything you say WILL be used against you. The next officer might not consider himself a servant of the community, but the enforcer of the very long rule law.

Good interaction on both sides--mutual respect as it should be !!!--my experience has been similar--I have a 2500 watt ebike and have only been pulled over one time and the cop just wanted to know If I built it (I did) and how much it cost.....he didn't give me a ticket for going 40 in a 30 mph--good clip & good cop !!!

Man, you both were super lucky. I live in damn California too, and got pulled over on my old Harley which is over 30 years old and he gave me a ticket for loud exhaust. You can’t believe what I had to go through. All told ended up costing me over $2000 as I had to put it back to stock and take it to a referee station. It wasn’t close to being as loud as the motorcycle on your video.

I mean - unless you buy a DOT approved exhaust you should expect a ticket on a loud bike. Most of them even say (not for highway use) on them to keep liability off them. Stock or DOT approved is the only way to do it legally.

So you get a ticket for having a loud bike, I'm pretty sure some bikes are just loud to begin with and it's the same with cars so I'm kind of lost here
