Totally agree with you. Tbh prefer Tony over Alan White doing the same shitty shuffle on different BPM for three albums straight. Tony is more punk, but Whites style probably worked really well in studio as the layers of guitar dubs multiplied with each album session xD

Alan could bring Noel’s mounds of yak-fueled guitar noodling back down to Earth and make it sound middling. Tony could make their early driving rock songs sound like they simply had to be reckoned with as he forcibly pounded patterns neither too dense nor too deep; it was simply exactly what was needed to make them larger than live.

I feel like the drummers got worse during Oasis. Tony’s playing just seems to fit the songs so well on DM, Alan was good but the others just sound muddy/old and boring....not taking anything away from their talent as musicians they just don’t feel very Oasis. Liam’s voice is sounding great in these first 2 too.

tony was always the best drummer for Oasis, he just needed a few lessons to evolve, It was a shitty thing they did to him, met him once in a pub in Wythenshawe, you could tell he was still gutted by it, he was talking about his new band and how was still doing music, I'm a musician myself and I've been fucked over a few times by bands and managers, I really felt for the guy, my little brother, who is friends with tony, was like "this is our kid Jason, he's a singer and a guitar player, you should get him in your band " I never entertained the idea even for one second, we are about the same age, my time to be a rock star was 20 years ago, I did wish him all the best luck in the world though. good night , he was a nice guy.

Haha, so did my brother. My older sister was a big oasis fan and taped it, my brother was born in ‘91 and his first record was some might say when he was 4! Unbelievable that someone so young would be brought up with such fine music taste!

Peak Oasis this. The original line up. Tony McCarroll though not the best drummer in the world allowed Noel's guitar and Liam's vocals to shine and soar. Wasn't long after this they disappeared up their own arseholes and became a stadium rock band. But here. Absolutely magical and raw

Cradock is a mainstay, played an important part in Weller's solo journey. Very talented musician.
