i was facing the same issue when i tried to add my shortcode from wordpress dashboard.But in the end I added a function in my php file and now its working.

Thank you for this series! It helped me understand so much that I was having trouble with. I had a question though. I followed your tutorial step by step (adding in my own design and styles of course) but when I uploaded it to my self-hosted Wordpress site, a lot of the css isn't displaying. I exported the posts, pages, widgets and menus from my localhost site but it won't upload in my actual site. Did I miss a step? I have been researching but haven't yet found a solution. You can create a new directory in the plugin, call it 'templates' and in this templates directory just create a php file like, form-html.php and put all your html there and then require it once inside that function/method.

Thanks for this amazing series, but what if this plugin someone is using in non bootstrap theme? Is there a proper way to do plugin css work? I know I can call a dependency of bootstrap while enqueueing the style sheet, but lets say I'm using a theme (premium one) which has their own fully customised css, then how do we use bootstrap there. I think if we use bootstrap dependency in the plugin then for sure it can conflict with the theme css.

You can call hook 'init' and use wp method 'register enqueue style' where u can load script using online link of bootstrap style Or wordpress provide his own method for registering bootstrap.

6:25 My code is 100% identical to yours but I cannot see simple-contact-form.js anywhere in my page's source code. The css file is showing up fine. I'm really stumped. I know it's not essential but it's really strange. EDIT: 6:40 I had to be in the WordPress Admin page, in Appearance --> Widgets, for the Javascript pop-up to work.
