Hey Andy, big fan of your videos. I’m currently on a nightly binge of watching from your earliest videos, to current ones. How about another one of these MRE reviews in 2024?

good selection of stuff in the 24 hour packs ,new ones now coming in bags
@richielamb27336 жыл бұрын
I’m ex British Army I served when we still had tinned 24 hr rat packs only 4 menu ,the first boil in the bag rat packs were tons better ..but still not perfect , the biggest problem was rat pack fatigue we always got the same menu a few days on the bounce , couldn’t do swaps when the crew had all the same menu lol ,it’s good to see the MOD have improved the weight and bulk issues, i tried a new rat pack a couple of years ago ....wow outstanding I know us old vets say “ back in our day “ but the modern solider should see what we ate, carried and wore 😂 . I’m a new subscriber to your channel keep up the really good reviews 👍

Hi Ritchie.. yes, Ive heard about how they've improved over the years which can only be a good thing haha, Im yet to encounter a main meal from any country that I've hated, all very interesting to test out. Thank you for subscribing mate, hope you enjoy the other videos :)

You make awesome videos. I prefer your camp / cooking videos over your MRE review videos though. truthfully i've never been able to watch a whole MRE review video before. but you have such a calm / cool demeanor about you i actually sat tru several of yours lol. also once you were doing a cooking or camp video and light the fire with a lighter nd said somthing like i'm hungry so i'll use the lighter no time to fight the ferro rod or soemthing. that was awesome lol. if i've got a lighter or matches im not gonna waste time with a ferro rod and ive seen a million videos with people aming fires with them already lol. Great videos. i'll be subbed for a long time :)
@KentSurvival6 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you.. high praise indeed :) and yes.. if you want a fire quick, no reason not to use a lighter haha, especially if im not 'practicing' or making the video about that aspect. Thanks for watching and subbing buddy!

Looks like a very small meal for a soldier who’s been running around the whole day? I’ll eat two or three of those packs.
@KentSurvival6 жыл бұрын
This is true. I think its for anything under 12 hours and maybe you can take more than one.. for when the 24 hr pack is too much. Ill let someone else correct me if Im wrong but sounds about right. Thanks for watching buddy
@geoffupton6 жыл бұрын
alex ossel i think the idea is that they eat them while walking round and stop for the main course, hence its small. im guessing the electrolite drinks would be in their canteen bottles, i doubt they would drink them warm unless stopping for main meal. im guessing the main meal would be eaten cold without stopping to cook it if on patrol (in daytime?) anyhow, what i mean is they would be totally mobile and not making camp very often. im guessing this would be made to last and they would probably have two of them (cover 24hrs) but only consume small parts thru the day and keep some back! thats only my opinion, if anyone disagrees then thats ok... its (currently) a freeish world and you have the right to moan lol nice meal tho! good review!

Pg do instant tea it's alright to be fair I use it and full fat milk powder in a Stanley cook kit as my little tea pot at camp and just portion it out in little sealer bags per pot and stash any spare space in the brew/cook kit with a cup and alcohol burner....works a treat with no tea soggy tea bags

Pretty flash when I remember the ones we got in Aust Army. This was b4 mre. It was all canned like sausage n veg. Sachet instant mash 4 pieces chewing gum. Two fruits in a can. Teabags ( not that powdered tea lol) coffee sugar. Condensed milk and jams in tubes. Can of cheese like that Kraft cheese that is in a box. Can of biscuits. And a pack (or2? Cant remember was 30 yr ago) of survival biscuits much like thos RAF ones in tin by appearance..hard tack ships bickies basically. Can opener/spoon. Oh a bag of lollies sweets. May have been more I cant remember. I never ate a lot of it lol

I am so glad that they didn't come my way when I was in the Army. They had just come in not long before i had left. I am afraid it would starve on excercise with most of the menus. I used to love the old rat packs with tins of sausages, bacon grill steak and kidney. With a packet of Rolos and the tinned puddings. they were more to my simple tastes when it comes to food. nearly forgot the Friut biscuits and the Biscuit Browns that you could kill the enermy with. I could takle them so often had extras as most won't touch them.

Excellent review mate! I have always wanted to try one of the British rations either one of these or the 24 hour packs. I've never seen a 3 in 1 tea before, I've seen plenty of 3 in 1 coffee's though. It looks like a pretty well rounded ration. :)

Thanks for sharing mate. I still say you make the best MRE videos on KZbin, always check them out. This one looked good. I'm not a huge fan of beyond the beaten track, as I had a few really bad meals from them a while back. I want to try some of their FRHs though. Will had a pouch of that fruit and fun at Dover, we were cracking up lol. Well done again mate, and you've changed your intro jingle, how come? !

Thanks mate.. yeah I saw you 2 laughing at that haha... children ;) yeah, I thought the intro music was a little intense for my usually quite chilled videos, might change a few other things this year too, gotta keep it fresh :p

I have A menu 4, chicken tikka masala here in A 12 hr. ration, Menu 13 here, in 24 hr. ration, pork sausage with beans, tuna bean pasta, beef meatballs with spaghetti here, in the British rations. Hope mine looks as well as yours? Plenty of food you have there, 12 plus hours ration! Instant tea is, better than no tea, same as coffee to us yanks, instant is better than none. The 24 hr. British ration, has the D&E coffee in it everyone speaks so highly of, can't wait! Main looked awesome, all looked highly edible ! I would make this A meal, well, or 2!! LOL. Very cool friend!! Belated Merry Christmas to you and yours, and A Happy New Year!! Peace, John, AKA Magnum.

I served for 12 years in the military as an infantry soldier, I only left 18 months ago and I have never seen "spicy sausage and potato wedges" on any menu. I can imagine the MOD thought it was too tasty so never issued it out, 90% of the rations we got were dog shit, if you'll pardon the french.
@KentSurvival6 жыл бұрын
haha, pardoned indeed, I can image even the best of them get old quick! this now was indeed better than expected, Thanks for watching mate
@boogieidm90456 жыл бұрын
Not bad. I feel like you could break this up into two minor meals. The carbs, sugar, and caffeine before you put in any work. After you set up camp, you could eat all of the protein items, the leftover carbs, and electrolytes. Nice vid. Let's see some more over-nighters, Kent!

@garyhertswildcamper89586 жыл бұрын
Well i have to say im shocked! A man of your culinary expertise resorting to ration packs. But these things have to be looked at, and reviewed. The only thing missing from your review, unless i missed it, was how much it cost? and where you get one? price could well be a factor. Incredibly, my Girlfriend actually watched it with me, (very rare that) she said stick the peanut butter on the cookies, good sweet and sour combo. Now, the important issue, was that enough for 12 hours? working on the assumption that a soldier left his base at say, 8am having already stuffed himself with stodge, in the words of Andy Mcnabb (ex SAS turned author). Then that would be enough for sure, again working on the assumption he/she would be overdue an evening meal by the time they got back, at say 6pm. SO the words 12 hour are a bit misleading. its basically one good daytime meal, and a few tea/drink breaks. which is all its intended for. Hope i sounded like i knew what i was talking about there? Good vid mate. Gary.
@KentSurvival6 жыл бұрын
Hiya, yeah, I'm not sure exactly how it works, I guess they have these if you don't need to be taking the whole 24 hour boxes, easy to pick up 1 or 2 depending on the length of mission (anything up to 12 hrs) Ill let some one correct me if I'm wrong. Good point about the cost etc, usually I don't put all that because I hunt them down and its not easy to get another but this was from Surplusandoutdoors dot com. a good website. Thanks for watching buddy!
@garyhertswildcamper89586 жыл бұрын
i spose if they called it a one good meal ration, it wouldn't sound as good. ive never tried one, you know me, im fussy about my tasty grub. so i always go for fresh food. did you see the '2 feet forward' vid, emergency wild camp i recommended?

I like what you’ve done here, however, I’m feeling out of sorts knowing that a pack like this could save many lives! And shouldn’t be taken lightly. In Nz alone there are kids unable to go to school because of being in poverty and are underfed. Our new government is addressing child poverty here. I think of the huge dilemma we are all facing with starvation and the state of the charities that have failed them.... in many ways... I would be interested to hear your comment. 🤗
@KentSurvival6 жыл бұрын
I do not have kids but I believe they are running before / after school programs over here for kids below the poverty line to ensure they are getting 1 / 2 good meals a day, they also introduced free meals for younger children for school lunches too which is great. But yes.. we live in a world where the gap between the rich and poor just keeps widening.. I live in the south east of England and feel Ill never be able to own a home here due to the high costs :(
