I find the medic class to be more of a veteran class. There’s just so much going on when your a medic, you’ll be flustered instantly leaving you open to spy’s and snipers.

​@@bigbird4481 i dont think its a "new player" issue as it is an inexperienced shooter game player... if youve played lots of other shooters for a long time you just have a higher baseline of situational and enviromental awareness. Ive been playing shooters since CoD:World at War and i started playing tf2 yesterday, im persobally not having any issue with dying to spies and snipers, though i can understand why some newer player would have that issue so im not judging yall

Honestly, early on I played Medic a lot and found him easy to play well as. My biggest issue was I was f2p and I couldn't/didn't know how to effectively communicate with my team. I also almost instantly began to main Sniper because that's the playstyle I lean towards in other games.

I would like to add that Heavy is also a very beginner friendly class, the scary but lovable giant russian weapons guy is pretty much the definition of "easy to learn but hard to master".

nahhh heavy is easy to learn and easy to master. he is really easy. You just need situational awareness and tracking aim, which can be mastered by playing other classes. Soldier is the definition of easy to learn but hard to master, spamming rockets is pretty easy, but rocket jumping adds a lot of depth to the class that is unmatched by most classes.

@@overlord3481 How many hours have you played Heavy!? Can you track every enemy like a sentry? Can you always be at a perfect position as to not to get caught with your pants down because of ur slow mobility (unlike soldier who can simply rocket jump to a safe distance, heavy doesn't have that luxury). Do you have enough spy paranoa to not get backstabbed and enough gamesense to instinctively be careful of snipers?? Can you masterfully throw sandviches/bananas to your allies to keep them in the fight? Can you survive a whole round mostly without any medic assistence? Yes, playing Heavy is easy but "mastering" heavy is doing everything mentioned above and so much more, topscoring usually and making sure you're not the fat kid who's gonna get bullied by the entire enemy team.

@@dragonandavatarfan8865 Got like 150 hours on him, being my 2nd least played class. But heavy is such a one dimensional class that I can confidently say I have mastered him and ironically, I got better at heavy by playing other classes. My most played class is scout at 750 hours, and I still have lots of room for improvement. The pistol is a much harder weapon to track with than the minigun. With heavy I can pick off scouts that are up my face and deny soldiers that are in the air. So my aim is not a problem. My game sense is on point as medic is my 2nd most played class, so that isn't an issue. I rarely get backstabbed, and very paranoid of sightlines. I die like 3-5 times at most in a payload game as medic. And medic is a much more valuable target than heavy you have kamikaze soldiers trying to bomb you, kamikaze spies trying to stab you, scouts trying to flank you, and demomen trying to pipe you. Pretty much everyone wants you dead. This game sense has translated pretty well over to heavy. What skill is there in tossing sandwiches lol. You just throw it on whoever needs it the most, usually a medic. If I want to play heavy without a medic, I would just use the banana and play more passively. But matches without a medic are very rare btw. Usually there is at least 1 medic in 90% of games, because medic is the best class in TF2, your team would be at a big disadvantage without him. And if there isn't one, I choose medic. There is no doubt an element of skill involved in heavy, but compared to rest of the classes (maybe the only exception is sniper, which ONLY requires good aim and nothing else. A CSGO pro who probably hasn't touched TF2 could do good on sniper). He just seems like a piece of cake

a nice introduction, but I think this guide is missing some important things a new player should know: - how to mute a player - random crits - item pickups (health, ammo, weapons) - how to change your class mid-match - HUDs and configs (at least a mention) - community servers (at least a mention)

It's sad to see new players fearful of picking up the game nowadays, goes to show how drastically the game has changed in its 15 years. In the early years of tf2 it was by far the most casual, laid back, whimsical game you could play on steam. You could just hop on with no experience and have the goofiest games and meet great people. I haven't played tf2 often since a bit after meet your match, but it seems like the aura of tf2 has changed, and I know bots have been ruining the newbie casual experience. All of the content after years as a new player can definitely be daunting, but tf2 was always meant to be a fun, easy going, casual game so I hope new players are able to experience it despite how it's changed

Despite how the community has changed, there will always be a select few of tf2 veterans just praying for fresh blood to carry on our styles and traditions, it's almost like a family heirloom. No matter how new you are I promise that there are veterans in the uncletopia servers as well as Cas that will try all they can to make sure you're being followed and supported as a fresh player. I'm a medic main and I always target newbies as opposed to experienced soldiers/ heavies / demo cause I want yall to live as long as possible and get used to all the mechanics, even if it costs us one measely game. We are sadly few and far between but just know if u see a medic named "Ween" that's my tf2 medic main and I will cover you in choke point or/and flanking regardless of your skill or experience cause I think tf2 Is all about helping others and solidifying as a team for obj

Started playing Team Fortress 2 after a 10 year break. Genuinely don't know how I managed without it during that time. I already had 1000h+ back then and I'm ramping those hours up as of lately. The best TF2 experience is definitely 12v12 on community servers, say Uncletopia. You're going to get destroyed if you're a beginner, but it's worth giving it a try. If I had one beginner tip for anyone starting, it would be to play different classes and adjust based on your team's composition. Your team's basically holding it's own and there are no Scouts on your team ? Play Scout and check flanking routes, hit and run. You'll become an additional pain to deal with. Your team is missing a powerful class and you know nothing about the game ? Play Soldier and spam some rockets on choke points. You'll create space while understanding splash damage. Your team team is struggling to defend it's Sentries against Ubercharges and Spies ? Play Pyro and knockback Ubercharges while spychecking and reflecting a few projectiles here and there. You need to create a lot of space ? Play Demoman and put stickies on flanking route while spamming a few grenades where enemies might be gathering, or on choke points. Use stickies to deny space in fights. Your team could use a punch and there are no pesky Snipers ? Play Heavy and deny space from a safe distance, then go in ham from an unexpected angle and wreak havoc. Your team is struggling to defend or attack and there are no Engineers ? Place a Sentry nest in a place where you cover angles ; put a dispenser near a choke point and help pushing with a safe teleporter. You're good at Sniper ? Play Sniper. Your team has no Medics ? Play Medic. Switch between regular Ubercharge and Kritzkrieg to push and play in a safe way in order to heal as much teammates as possible. Your team is getting destroyed by Snipers or Heavies ? Play Spy and focus them. Shoot Snipers with your Revolver if they have the Razorback. Enjoy trying. Play the objective. Retreat when necessary. Have fun by being useful, even if you're not at the top of the scoreboard.

TF2 in simple steps: Try out training mode Turn off mouse acceleration Press E for medic Don't pick sniper if there's 3 of them Don't pick spy if there's 3 of them Pick medic if there's no medic Be free to press G when you kill someone (They wouldn't be called taunts for nothing) Don't steal medkits from medic. Steal medkits from medic which doesn't heal you. Don't steal metal from engineer. Steal metal from engineer who doesn't want to place dispenser. Don't play MGE Don't play TF2 competitive Do not trash talk in chat. Only taunt after kill. If enemy offers you rock paper scissors you should accept it. Don't kill hooves (until they try to holiday punch kill you) Don't kill box spies (until they try to steal intelligence) DO NOT open intelligence.

@@cryptidkoi8418 A hoovy is also called a friendly and basically, if you see a heavy crouching and giving sandviches to either you or the enemy team, thats a hoovy. They aren't there to fight, just giving out sandviches. Once you kill them tho you will hear the most diabolical insults known to man

You forgot about the snap command thing, I personally told VALVe to fix some of the weapon draw animations, they never had a snap command before that update. These weapons are: -Bat -Flamethrower -Syringe Gun -Medi Gun -Bonesaw -Sandman -Spy Melee All-Class

Soldier is basicly that class that anyone can take out of their back pocket and get comfortable with quickly. Though when it comes to rocket jumping i can only really do basic jumps and none of that fancy speedrun through the map that some god players are able to do. And i've played since 2011 haha. Though note that there's weapons like the direct hit which have rough blast radius and benefit more from aiming directly at enemies.

Going back here again, Team Fortress 2 was much simpler when it was new, today, it's complicated. To correct some things here, you don't have to modify your viewmodel field of view and your general field of view from their default values, I did try to modify them but I prefer the default ones, they were common when the game was new. For what classes you should play first, the Soldier was the best option out of all other classes. Same goes to your loadout, you shouldn't heavily rely on weapons in your backpack, your stock weapons are the most reliable, it's better to sharpen your skills with stock weapons before the others.
