Great video indeed. I especially liked using the styro foam to protect the inside of the electrical parts when painting. I guess one would color the part with black marker then press down on the styro foam leaving an outline. At first I thought this was a lost cause, and not worth restoring, but as usual Mr. Electricity strikes again. I guess Mr. Rooster has lost his job and moved on. the green plate could have been cleaned-up a bit more before painting ? sandblasting, or wire brushing with angle grinder, and painted with a few coats of primer before the color ?

The plate is placed directly on the concrete. It is going to get covered in concrete again. Where he lives it will be used again. Not a display unit.

I'd go with overheating. This is easily a several hundred watt motor and it has no method of cooling. Running it for more than a few dozen minutes at a time is going to cook it. The inner bearing caps have holes for air to pass through, but the end caps are sealed, so the motor can't cool itself. It makes sense to have solid caps to prevent concrete from getting inside the motor, but the motor needs some way to cool itself, heck it doesn't even have fins on the body.

Some of the internal parts look better than the exterior. Certainly, the usual gunk and rust you would find in an old machine like this one but not that it appears to be to the same extent as other projects.

Might be phosphoric acid. I used it to recover a rusted out car trunk handle that was stuck. Works like a charm.

I know what chemical he uses, but I won't tell you because it's too dangerous. If you need to derustificate something, I recommend Evaporust, Krud Kutter or MC-51. If those are too expensive or not available in your area, vinegar will also work if you don't leave the parts in too long. Electrolysis is another option by using a sacrificial anode metal. There are plenty of videos on YT showing how it works.

You really need to get a sandblaster all restore one instead of using that chemical crap paint remover. It's toxic, it doesn't work as good as the sandblaster and bi product afterwards is bad for the environment. Please rebuild a sandblaster or make one. It will make your job so much faster and easier.

The wire connction details are not showen, how can we know about, and the 2nd capiseter wasn't showen also, should show in diagram all wires connctions, so we can't learn that important part, sorry i dislike the vedio

Any decent book on electric motors will have that information, try a public library if you can. I don't believe there was a 2nd capacitor, there was not enough room in the box on the motor for the one selected, so he mounted it remotely in the switch box instead.
