I know this is a tutorial. I should have worded my previous comment differently. I came off like a tool. I just don't see any vents for the dynamic heat, and it's important for customers to know that is absolutely nessesary if using the dynamic heat control. Finished product looks awsome, think you should just show the heat ducts or vents so they see them. Customers that don't want grills or vents can use non combustible kit but does not reduce the mantle clearance a fraction of what it can be with heat shift. 👍

I am 100% assuming that they have vents off to the sides of the enclosure. If not I’m near 1000% they had to buy a new TV 😂 What freaked me out more was the carpet. I didn’t think this could be that close to carpet. But correct me if I’m wrong because, if the clearances can be tight this will make my basement installation easier. 😅

You can get closer to combustable flooring and carpet with this one. No hearth required. Having said that, this is slightly raised so no issue. I'm not a fan of no hearth, even if you can carpet right up to it. It will discolor. This one they are showing, I don't see any vents, sides or top. Their might be, but don't see them.

@@robertkilmartin350thanks for the kind reply. Can I ask, how this would do with the ever tricky (around fires) luxury vinyl planking? I have some beautiful high-end glue down type stuff that could be sitting right up to it. Assuming the fire is slightly raised a few inches, you have any thoughts? Luxury Vinyl planking, while crazy durable and even beautiful, doesn’t always fair well with nearby heat sources. Cheers either way. And thanks for the answers if you have any 😊

You mention the dynamic heat control. So you can reduce mantle clearance and also finish up to it with non combustible. However, I don't see any heat ducts or grills cut in above or on sides. It's also framed all the way up to the ceiling so I don't see an opening or manifold style cap on the top. Just wondering how your getting the heat out of the framed cavity without any vents.? I'm assuming you have all the wiring inside done with MC romex , considering you have TV electric box and wiring in there. Unless this is just a display build that you actually don't run for long periods.... or if you do have some grates cut in the sides I didn't see.? This unit is 45k btus... so just wondering where your heat shift is venting. Not being fecisious . 👍If this is just a display build you should mention the non combustible kit if you aren't using the Dynamic Heat. 😁

Good afternoon. I just bought an EX36 for a new home construction, and the manual explains the electrical connection for the junction box on the left side of the unit (when viewing from the front). On that side of the unit, there are 2 additional cordsets w/ plugs, but no mention of them in the literature. Can you add insight to the use/proper connection of these items? Thank you, Jeremiah!

4:40 to 4:55 the entire fireplace changed. Lol. Reflective with glass and grey log set, to herringbone brick pattern to birch wood logs

Nice catch! We decided to change out our logs and panels on our fireplace and the video wasn't all in one take. This fireplace has different options and the last take is our favorite!

I wanted to see how you installed the herringbone panels. They are shown at the beginning and end of video. How are those attached?
@robertkilmartin3502 жыл бұрын
You need to do those before the logs. Back first and sides but up to the back. Then tabs inside that hold them in place.

Hi, early in the video, you installed black reflective panels. Did you actually screw them in? I have the same unit with the same black panels but the installer only used two clips at the the top of each reflective panel to hold them in (my panels aren’t screwed in). So my darn fireplace makes a loud banging noise when cooling down. I don’t see any holes in my panels to screw them in. Do you think that securing the reflective panels with screws rather than clips would make that much of a difference in order to reduce the banging noise when cooling down?? Thanks Oh, at the end of your video, you changed to brick panels?
@TheLumberJacked Жыл бұрын
The porcelain panels aren’t screwed in. Most fireplaces clip them in. Are you sure it’s the reflective porcelain that is causing the banging? Because I doubt that.

does the fireplace have a fan to plow out hot air from around the unit ?

Most fireplaces can have a fan added to them either. Contact your local Napoleon dealer.

please correct me if IM wrong but that mantel and the wood finish seems suspect to me. in the manual it is saying a mantel of 8@ width needs to be 21 inches from the top of FP opening to the underside of mantel. having combustibles on the face is questionable to me

DHC reduces mantel clearances. Once installed use the clearances from the DHC install manual. Hope this helps

There is a separate manual and different set of clearances if you use the dynamic heat. When they first came out with this unit I thought it was absurd you could finish up to it with combustibles and an 8 inch mantle one inch above the trim kit. Figured no way, this unit is 45k btus. But it actually works

did you install the dynamic heat control? We just bought the ex42, but we don't want to have the dynamic heat control installed because we prefer have the most for the front of the fireplace. or do we have to install the dynamic control? Please advise. Thanks
@mrEnergy5113 жыл бұрын
sounds like the sales guy didn’t explain the real benefits. With the D.H.C. the fireplace will be more efficient allowing heat from the very top of the fireplace and heat from the vent pipe to come into the room. With such a large BTU fireplace and ceramic glass I rarely turn the large burner on. I get plenty of heat off the front of the fireplace! No loss with the D.H.C. only gain.

The people I bought from didn't explain anything. Where would I vent the dynamic heat ? Thanks

Do I need to open the dynamic heat control ? I am installing mine now.
@robertkilmartin3502 жыл бұрын
You can only open that if you are cutting ducts on the front or sides of your enclosure. You can also leave a space open at the top and semi hide it with crown.. but still need the gap. You may also make a manifold style top , this is all of you are framing it into the room. There is an additional manual if you are using the heat shift . Although I see you posted this 4 months ago, so I'm hoping you already figured that out. 👍

When we first Installed the Fireplace there was only one option for logs. 6 months later we got the upgraded Birch Log set and Herring Bone brick panels. I think the white logs look good with the antique white stain on our shiplap. Thanks for noticing!

Do all gas fireplaces emit heat or is that an option?
@mrEnergy5113 жыл бұрын
There are gas fireplaces that are more visual and don't heat as much. There are are also heat-rated fireplace that are very efficient and emit a lot of heat. The biggest factor to consider is whether the gas fireplace is made with tempered glass or ceramic glass. Tempered glass is what they use on an oven door and is designed to keep heat in. Ceramic glass is what they use on a cooktop and is designed to radiate head. That being said, if you purchase a fireplace with ceramic glass, you will get more radiant heat into the home. Your more budget friendly fireplaces are always tempered glass. With a tempered glass fireplace, it is important to get as blower to transfer heat. The Napoleon GX, AX and EX lines all have ceramic glass. The B models are lower cost and have tempered glass.
