Finding it a bit hard to put this game down, it's got a bit more depth than I was expecting. Just one more episode and we should have all the tech we need.

Once we were playing a superhero rpg and a friend rolled up possibly the most overpowered character possible. Someone suggested that his weakness be aluminium (saying it the British way). When he asked what it was we told him it was a chemical element. It was fun having a character along who could arm-wrestle Thor and yet couldn't open a storm door.

I once went to start a new game with some folks I barely knew and rolled such a ridiculous build, I was never invited back after ruining all the DMs plans with that character until they started a new game with another DM 😂

The power transmitter takes 50 Energy to run and can send up to 100 Energy. You can change how much Energy it sends.

You can do manifold style factories using splitters too; if you have 4 machines you have the fist splitter send 3 onward, the next send 2, etc. Works beautifully. Another industrialization tip: auto catchers have two outputs, and sometimes harvest two items simultaneously. if you use a filter on one side and a blocker on the other, ten catchers with a priority set just happens to line up *very nicely* with a very nearly full basic belt for priority and a very sparse basic belt for incidental junk. Belts appear to carry 1.25 items/sec. (Including the docking upgrade, which claims it speeds up transport belts, though I'm not sure I believe it.)

Also priority catchers preferentially output to their right side (your right, if the power is facing you) but this isn't very useful because an item passing by will block the lane long enough for it to fall back to the other.

Splitters with very large balancing settings, like 999-1, behave like throttles when the 999 side is full/dead end. Even if the 1 side is open, it seems to delay a fraction of a second as it counts through and fails to send each of the 999. Unfortunately this behavior makes it maybe impossible to priority merge two belts so that one is full and one has excess. At least I haven't figured out any way. Pushers/splitters can also push at some VERY ridiculous angles that don't seem like they should work, like 90 degrees from a straight belt to an angled up/down belt on the level BELOW it, pointing in ludicrous directions.

Loving this series! You don't have to line up the harpoons and docks exactly, once you click dock as long as the other side is in range and facing the same direction it will automatically align the two.

never knew that about the harpoons. neato need a "flat piece of land" for the drills? use the floor plates; yes, you can place a drill on floor plates Need to bridge across a giant hole/crater in a middle of a planetoid so your mining bots can have an easier path to cross to get the ore? floor plates I also tend to just use solar, no need to fuel it (and blueprints are a godsend; I have a blueprint with 10 panels floating in air which can be easily placed by a giant drill or power a few bot miners) while the giant drill is effective for quantity, bots don't need to be repositioned as often (at least until a planetoid is depleted of resources)

I wonder in what direction this game will go. I like some of it and dislike others, most dislike i have is that i cannot tell when my colony is considered connected to something. Sometimes the bots can move over other times i have to build new ones on the "Island". The path-finding of the drones needs some work too. I like that i can switch the input and output of the buildings but some are such a pain to build en mass when all their connections are on one side. Really hope it gets a bit more development over time given it's in early access
@FrancisJohnYT
@FrancisJohnYT Жыл бұрын
It does not feel optimized for building big factories and in general I don't see a need to build big factories. Even the blueprint stuff you really only need to use for 3 or maybe 4 things. It feels a bit like a mini factory game, but considering the price it's an ok deal. You get about 20 hours and I don't see much replay ability.

I would like to bring to your attention a game called TImberborn. It's true that it's still early access but it has some interesting mechanics, I've put about 100 hours into it but there are a few things that are still unclear, I'd love to see you try it out or make a video or two, just to see how you play it.

Bah. Nonsense. Aluminium doesn't conform to the naming standard and isn't the name given by the discoverer. Aluminum is the original name, but someone wrote a letter of complaint to Webster that it should be aluminium. They agreed, changed the spelling in the Webster dictionary, and it spread like a virus from there. Originally aluminum, properly aluminum.

The stellar harpoon trick for power is interesting but what you've done feels way too gimmicky for it to be intended so I expect it to either be patched out or fixed. They're good for the small planetoids but I found it's easier to just use a blue print that has 40 solar panels and 10 of the robo miner buildings. Drop that on the planetoid then use the lv2 dock which has lv2 conveyors which connect up to my 1st stage processing setup. The coal generators are an option, you can include it in a blueprint as well, but you have to feed it coal which is an extra step. I did try including the lv2 dock in a blueprint but that didn't work very well. What I need to do is test how deep the lv 2 mining drill goes. The lv1 was painfully shallow compared to how deep some of the planetoids go. If it drills sufficiently deep then a blueprint with platforms would work well enough for it.
@OniZai
@OniZai Жыл бұрын
Can't you put solars on top of each other to save space? I think I saw that on the trailer but I am curious, as the game doesn't need the panel to be exposed to generate power.

The Irish virtually always pronounce it the same as the Brits, he probably just has an ear worm for it, prefers how it sounds or maybe got corrected by one American too many. Or maybe the mixed pronunciation just means he's splitting the difference. Source: am Irish
