I really loved that camera. I didn't care much for replacing the batteries but man that was a good camera. Mine broke about a year after making this video. And no, it wasn't the cameras fault...lol... I left it on the back of my truck, by mistake, and it fell off and busted on the road.

The only issue that I have with it is that they take 4 AA batteries instead of rechargeable ones. Yes there are better cameras out there but not at this one's price and features. You may also want to check out used, or even new, Canon video cameras. You can get them for under $200.00 and used for about $150.00. The Canon video cameras have the rechargable batteries. Either way, you should enjoy it.

@@HayesTech That's actually a benefit since it's futureproofed. Rechargeable lithiums are propietary and stop being made after a certain amount of time and are hard to get good quality ones from the 3rd party chinese companies. Also beneficial being able to instantly replace in the field as many stores have these instead of needing to wait to recharge. Also I got some high capacity rechargeable AA at Harbor freight for 7 dollar that last long time.

Is interesting. I remember using this in 2010. Was pleasantly surprise for how cheap it was and also being a point and shoot. I loved the panorama mode.

Yes it was a very nice camera for the cost. The thing I liked least was the use of standard AA batteries instead of rechargable ones. That would have made it the perfect camera for that time. That camera has been out of my camera stable for some time now but when I had it, it was a very good video camera.

@@HayesTech rechargeable AAs are better and always obtainable. I just put a fresh set in now and it worked better than when i used in 2011. This kind of zoom is pretty good for rail photography.

@@kishascape Absolutely... But I never seemed to have good luck with AA size, rechargable, batteries. The 18650 size has always been my "go too" battery and I have about 25 spears (charged and waiting) to use in all my powered accessories. Those rechargeable AA batteries, for sale, have never held up right for me.

I just bought one yesterday after my Sony WX200 failed on me as although it will turn on, it just will not take power at all without coming up with a fault and saying it needs to restart. I got mine for £40 posted. So hopefully it works. That should sort my Christmas photos out if Royal Mail brings it to me on time.

Hopefully it works out for you. I've not used that camera in years but it did take nice pics. I'm a video person and moved to higher image sensor cameras. But for pics it should do just fine. Don't forget about my Christmas giveaway video. I'll be drawing the winner live on Monday evening at 8pm.

@@jerrypetain8080 If you need an interchangeable lens camera, check into some of the used Canon cameras. You can get a T6i for pretty cheap (about $350.00) and it shoots in 1080p and has cannons dual pixel auto focus. I'm also giving away my T6i as soon as I hit 5000 subs. Be looking for that.

No you can't, sorry about that. These were meant for budget minded people who still wanted good images, for the money. Plus they used batteries like crazy.. 😂. I've not had this camera for years now too. But I do remember that when I had it, I was very happy with it. But with as many used DSLR cameras on the market, I honestly would go with one of those. Like a used Canon T5i or even T4i for about $150.00 to $300.00 (depending on weather it comes with a lens). But even without the lens, you can pic up used kit lenses for way less than $100.00. just something to think about.

@Cricketpeeks Don't quote me on not having a manual focus though, is been a few years since I had it. I tried searching and couldn't find any info. I really do wish that I could help you more. To be honest though, you may want to look into a good used DSLR. The Canon T5 or T5i can be had for about $150.00 and there are hundreds of affordable ef and ef-s lenses out there, new and used.

What kind of batteries are good for this cam? How many mAh?

I don't know for sure about mAp... But I used only high quality batteries, non rechargeable ones, in it. And I would always carry spare ones. I think I used Duracell.I no longer have that camera but if I remember correctly they were, 4 AA. It may have even been AAA. It's been a while so I can't remember for sure. But just use quality 1.5 volt batteries and you well be fine.

Go harbor friehgt, get aa rechargeable is only 7$ and has 2100 mAh. Really good.

If you don't like this camera, you can buy a very expensive one at Best Buy. For the money, this is a very good camera and a very good gift for a teenager!

That sucks. Is it an issue with the cable or internal? I don't use mine at all any more. And none takes double AA batteries that are disposable. To be honest there are so many, good, video cameras that I wouldn't even try to fix it. Get a Sony Handycam or one of the Canon Vixia cameras. They take still images too and are as good as the images I get out of this camera.

Mine had an issue with talking video in direct sunlight but that was something wrong with the camera from me dropping it. When it was new it was a phenomenal cameras for the money

@@v.evanjalin7745 Well it is an old camera. Maybe its time to get something that's at least 1080p. You can get a Canon Vixia 1080p camcorder for less than $200.00 and the video quality is outstanding.

You can even pick up used 1080p camcorders for less than about $145.00 if you look in eBay. Plug I'm giving away my Canon T6i as soon as I hit 5000 subs, so there is that chance too.
