As a police officer, we usually get there after the fact and then investigate. Very rarely do we arrive WHILE the crime is occurring. I always teach it’s YOUR responsibility to protect your family. 20-something years ago when our children were young, I thought I heard someone breaking in. Woke up my husband and told him he needed to go protect our kids whose room was right at the top of the stairs. This man said NO and literally hid under the covers. And since he was anti-gun (I grew up with them), I had to go downstairs alone armed with a cheap sword. This incident was the main reason I filed for divorce and then bought guns and train. What man hides under the covers while his children are left vulnerable.

While I never did have children (A personal choice), I have taught many, many people how to handle/maintain firearms, including my late wife. She was all of 5' 4", 125lbs, wet, and her greatest fear was shooting the shotgun (A Mossberg Model 500). After teaching her how to do so, safely? She fell in LOVE with that beast, and it was from that point on, her chosen 'Go to' platform! I am something of a babysitter, Nanny, or just the 'Adult-on-the-Scene' when Parents need to be away, so watching over children/young folks is part of my life, too. I will never hesitate to step up and defend any child, anywhere, and Hell hath no fury compared to what I will deliver to anyone trying to cause them harm! I had an incident when I was camping with my family, and we had a few issues with the guy next to us, where we had asked him if he could turn down the volume of his music, as it was getting late. He took exception to it, and started mucking about with his guns, so we decided just to get in the car and just get out and get the tent in the morning. We hit in the car, turned the lights on, and this guy was about 10m in front of the car with his gun pointed at us, and all we could do was get down behind the engine block and hope he didn’t fire. We made it to the police station I think at about 1am, and it was another two hours before armed police arrived. Two morals to the story: 1 - Things like this often happen very quickly, when you least expect it. So make sure you have your gear ready BEFORE you need it. 2 - If we’d called the police, it would have been about 3hrs before they got there. Don’t rely on them.

While my Masada is within arm's reach at all times (less showering), my AR (6.5Gren) is no more than a very short sprint. There will always be a minimum of 4 mags of each caliber (9mm, 6.5gren, 5.56nato) stored near for quick access if the need arose. We did opt for a 20ga shotgun though being as my Daughters are smaller framed. The Mossburg 590 7-shot, was perfect for capacity and size for the whole home. It is alternately loaded 00buck, and slug. I am a firm believer that every American should be exposed to firearm safety in primary school. IOT give yourself this advantage, use the right equipment. In other words, cheat. If you have some thermals and an infrared laser/flashlight using bullpup shotgun capable of holding up to 40+1 rounds or a good AR setup, this gives one the upper hand. Do not be afraid to use smoke in your own house... If you have thermals, you will see right through it and the enemy will not. Cheers🍻

Isoroku Yamamoto, the Japanese admiral behind the attack on Pearl Harbor, attended Harvard University and traveled extensively in the U.S., including the rural backwoods of Appalachia. He reported observation on the locals: Lots of missing teeth, & lots of guns. He was subsequently quoted as saying: Do not attack the United States. @jaredh9463 Жыл бұрын
There is no proof he didn't say, "I would never invade America, there is a gun behind every blade of grass." and no proof that he did. This has been reported as a quote from Isoroku Yamamoto so many times that to start this quote out with, "he has been quoted as saying" or "he may have said" should be adequate enough for it not be considered offensive or misleading. Until he has a family member or someone that represents his legacy become adamant about it not being something he said, I don't understand why anyone would get in a tizzy about it. If anything, it shows the man was smarter then his government as Americans have historically had a high rate of firearm ownership. Many articles have used this quote and finished it off by saying something to the effect of, "but it may not have been said" or "it probably was not said by him", but even that isn't enough to make the mother hens of academic history happy. History was passed down by word of mouth and with doodles on cave walls and we don't just throw it out because it wasn't published or because there was a camera available to verify or prove it. The USA won the war against Japan and as you know, "History is written by the victors." Which was possibly said by Winston Churchill, but maybe not. So I guess since that quote has no proof, "the loosers of wars are the ones who write most of the history books just out of pure spite", but don't quote me on that.

One thing that I've learned in 20+ years in the US Military, is that "Situational Awareness and a having a Basic Home Defense Plan" IS 3X more important than the type and quantity of the weapons you have for home defense. 'Firepower' is only important WHEN the Shooting Starts! The first thing You need to do is, "Look at Your Home and property from the Intruder's Perspective is paramount." Keeping in mind that Criminals these days can use common software tools like 'Google Earth' to assess and pre-plan their Attack on Your Home. Once You have determined the ways that a Criminal would likely enter Your Home', you can start figuring out how You should go about defending Yourself in each situation as well as, the details of WHERE & HOW.

Very good point. After watching some tutorial shows about self and situational awareness. Reading @bravofighter below, 20 feet is not safe. I see people walking out of Walmart unaware of their environment. Avoidance and a plan as you suggest and preparation. My comment about castles, the Shoguns castles differed in that they a designed kill zones and dead-ends in what appeared to be safe areas. The reason the castle wooden part over hung the stone was gaps for archers. As General Buford at Gettysburg said, I can see what will happen before it happens and he chose the high ground. And you would know better, but I picture if something happens and multiple strangers try to defend, it would already be like an unorganized route of retreat, no continuity. I could only hope someone like you is there.

Had this happen to me about ten or so years ago. I owned a townhouse that was a rental property. The girl was affiliated with MS13. I had my life threatened and they told me they were going to kill. I only had a handgun at the time. One night 30+ showered up to do just what they said they were going to do. I was the only protector of my family (parents and grandmother). We got lucky that night that when they saw me armed and in the second story window that they ran. The next day I bought a Glock, AK and an AR plus a Mossberg 500. Oh the cops, took them 45 minutes to get to me. I also live in the city. A big story with the police too. They didn’t believe me until they passed the case to the gang task force. They then believed. I would also add that taking a tactical shooting course will go a long way towards helping a gun owner understand and react to this kind of threat. I used to compete in biathlon and simply standing at the range shooting did nothing to help me shoot in competition as my adrenaline and myocardial oxygen demand were certainly distracting factors, and that’s still just shooting targets. Engaging threats is a whole different evolution. Training is good. Relevant training is more gooder!

Lived in Southern California for almost my entire life, 30 out of 33 years. I agree, this is scary. There are over 10 million illegals "officially" in my state alone. They keep passing laws trying to disarm and prevent us from being able to protect ourself. At the same time, deciding to not prosecute criminals and letting violent criminals out with signature bond. I know there are plenty of normal people like me who've lived here forever or can't "just leave". You have a responsibility to protect yourself and the people you care about. No one else is going to, especially the government and in states like CA, they actively do the opposite.

No offense, but I have to say that's pretty awesome. I've been using firearms for 60 years (starting from when I was 8) and I don't yet know everything I need to know about firearms. But it is great that you taught them, presumably what you mean, enough to be safe using them in their own defense and/or defense of your home and family. Everyone should do that. My children all grew up using guns safely at the range; none of us are hunters or have been in gun battles. I used to hunt but found I was a lot more successful if I did my bulk meat hunting in the aisles of Sam's club.

Having worked in ERs and Level 1 Trauma Centers most of my adult career, with a strong penchant to GSWs (Gun Shot Wounds), the magnitude of difference in contrasting the Wound Dynamics in what I call the TMOI (Traumatic Mechanism of Injury) from a 9 mm round vs the 5.56 is considerable. Most A-Zone / Midline Head-Cervical 5.56 GSWs, die in the field. I’ve had several 9 mm GSWs to the heart ♥️ stop by the ER, 2 weeks later as they were being Discharged. The ability to “Reach out & Touch Someone” is certainly a significant Tactical Advantage. Dr. Hull,MD. ⚕️🇺🇸

I wouldn't want to take the chance of being shot with a 9mm hp though. And even if you get a lot of guys shot with 9mm in the ER and they might live - at least they weren't doing much anymore. I mean they were in the ER. Much better than a sharp stick I would say.

What’s some advice you can give women that live alone? Being a single woman that’s been uncomfortable having a gun in house the since my fiancés suicide it’s definitely time to do something about that. We were always more than adequately armed but his suicide rocked my world of course and my sole protector (him) is gone. These past few days have been really stressful thinking about having to go through a violent situation alone. Thanks for putting this video out, I’ve subscribed and I’m going to get back to the range and arm myself again.
@murphytoadster9864 Жыл бұрын
Just gotta woman up and put the suicide behind you. It was a traumatic event but its unrelated to firearms. Just like a car, or a staircase people have died using them but you wouldn't stop using them. Just kick the fear out to the curb. Maybe go to a fun atmosphere gun range and rent out a lane and go have fun with other apha female or dude friends and have a good time
@randomnesswithraynemarie Жыл бұрын
@@murphytoadster9864 I completely agree that it’s unrelated to the gun. I don’t have a fear of guns it’s just the memories hearing one being fired brings back. I was raised to respect firearms and taught to shoot from a very young age and I felt it would’ve been irresponsible of me to have a gun if I wasn’t 100% confident and comfortable firing it. But I don’t have the luxury of time anymore now it seems, so I will have to deal with that trauma head on. I’m more than willing to do that and understand the importance of it. I like the idea of finding a fun atmosphere gun range and making it a fun day. Mindset is a huge thing so you are right. Thanks so much for your response.

Take a self defense class and beginner class to defensive firearm training. You have to push the trauma to the side and discover how strong you really are as a woman. I am a veteran and we soak up trauma all the time from combat. The mind is your weapon and anything else is just a tool or the extension of your mind. You can do it, sometimes you just have to take the plunge.

You still have two 9mm firearms. These bad guys, MS-13 especially all run at least soft armor, like police wear. Get an AK-74 (Russian version of our M-16) or an AR -15 in 5.56. I'm a tiny woman, the avatar picture is me from the last cruise I took with my husband. If little girls like me can handle them, you can too at your age. @@vitogriffin8902 I have been taking self defense and “tactical” courses off and on, since it was legal for me to do here in Wisconsin (21y.o.), but I will never consider myself “trained”, as there will ALWAYS be something more for me to learn. YOU are spot ON! As a LEO for 24 years in a large Florida city police department that spent most of my career in special operations, I can assure you -YOU can not wait for the police to save you and your family - especially if you’re NOT armed. For example during the start of 2020 riots every police officer in my department busy dealing with masses of violent protesters that greatly out numbered the police. Hundreds of police calls for service went unanswered because there was no one to send……Trust me I was there working 20+ hour shifts trying to gain control for days. That was a huge eye opener even for me. Please heed the advice in this video!

“Special operations” that’s a military term. You’re not military even though most cops are wannabes. Most cops are part of the problem. You want to exercise power over others.
