So cool! I used to read about the Sunset Valley in Model Railroader in the late 70s.

This is a wonderful video. ❤ I started reading MR in 1985, at age 13, and Bruce's C/MRI series was awe inspiring despite being light-years beyond my capabilities at the time. My copy of the "green book" is heavily dog-eared, but I still consider it an essential tool as I design my first basement size layout. Thank you, Bruce, for the decades of inspiration.

My Dad had the Model Railroader Video Layout Tours on VHS tapes where Bruce's layout was featured (with the big turntable). I think my dad gave the tapes to the local railroad museum (Sveriges Järnvägsmuseum) that has an active modeling club.

When the Model railroader came out to NZ with the sunset Valley railroad I copied the layout then into my shed that was 18 ft by 25 feet In Ho it was a work that took me seven years so when I married in 1985 I had to dismantle the railroad and now I model in N scale but not the sunset railroad I now model the Santa Cruze railroad.

Helllo Bruce, I just picked up your book, "How to Operate a Model RR" and I am really looking forward to reading it. Any other recommendation on how to best learn operations? Thanks for sharing your layout on KZbin.

So glad I found this video. I remember SV from ca 1978 Model Railroader or RMC and always wonder what happened. Hard to find until I randomly found the name Chubb to aid in my google searches. Odd memory... Werent there some E3 or E6 in an orange paint scheme?
