I make eggnog cappuccino and it's delicious. Try one. Also, you can make hot chocolate with eggnog too and it's really good. Use a mixture of 2/3 eggnog and 1/3 milk for both of these or it will be too sweet and thick. (Adults, add a shot of rum, brandy or cognac for a festive bump)

I think the strong cinnamon flavor is from the powdered cinnamon, not the cinnamon stick. A full teaspoon of cinnamon is more than I would have used. I agree with other comments, nutmeg is the traditional spice for eggnog, not cinnamon.

We can get eggnog milkshakes and eggnog lattes here, seasonally. It’s a nice change from the peppermint takeover everywhere! I like the peppermint, too. I usually make a noodle kugel with eggnog in December!

@ peppermint hot chocolate or peppermint lattes are great! If you can make espresso or just strong brew put some of that in the hot chocolate, I’m not sure how the coffee syrup would work, strong coffee cuts the sweetness a bit and just feels like a grown up hot chocolate, the syrup might add more sweet if it’s a sweet coffee syrup. Might be fun to experiment! Bonus would be fresh breath after your treats!! The coffee syrup might work better in the eggnog since homemade eggnog might struggle more with the hot coffee.

My second favorite from egg nog is the chocolate covered strawberry shake. Take strawberry ice cream , milk and chocolate syrup , mix until blended, but not thawed and runny. Third is a banana shake but that’s a story for another day… like summertime, another day…😂

Eggnog,other than the one canned brand, is seasonal in the US. I love eggnog ice cream which is rare. Cinnamon sticks are usually used to stir hot drinks like hot chocolate. The hard cassia ,or Vietnamese cinnamon is much hotter than the soft and crumbly true cinnamon. They are easy to tell apart once you have compared them.

The reason the milkshake machine at McD’s is always “not working”, is because it’s built so that only the manufacturer’s technicians can fix it - which is expensive. The problem is usually something that can be done by the employees. But the error codes are not shared with the restaurant owner so it’s impossible for them to fix it. To get an idea of the machine’s quality: the manufacturer has, as an example of their financial stability, 25% of their income from service calls. As to the other restaurants, I don’t know.

Sometimes around Christmas our stores sell Eggnog Ice Cream and I usually buy some and make myself a shake out of that, but I haven't seen any this year. I also like a milkshake made with Coffee ice Cream with a splash of Hershey's Syrup. Merry Christmas!

You know, a little bit of cinnamon goes a long way. I would have put in perhaps a quarter of a teaspoon, especially since you put in the cinnamon sticks in there. I had an incident with cinnamon that burned my tongue and now even a small amount of cinnamon makes itself known on my taste buds.

Also you should seriously consider getting an ice cream maker. There is nothing better than fresh, homemade ice cream! Get one that has an electric paddle and has a canister that needs to be frozen before use. This type is inexpensive, and will get you good results without a lot of headaches. Don’t get the old fashioned type with the hand cranks and that need ice and rock salt to freeze the ice cream. Too much work and takes too long to freeze.
