There are some key points in Malaysia history you have missed out particularly on how Malaysian got it two states in Borneo and Malaysia didn't gain independence but was form in 1963 by former British colony of Malaya(gain independence in1957), Sabah(North Borneo, independence at August of 1963) and Sarawak(independence at July of 1963). Let me sum it up for you: Singapore had a lot of ethnic Chinese peoples (and other diverse peoples), and basically, after a Malay-Nationalist government came to power in Malaysia, they basically decided to kick Singapore out because they didn't like them. It wasn't for practical reasons, just an ultra-nationalist government being racist.

This is the Malay Peninsula, not the Thai, Indian/Chinese peninsula. -Srivijayan Malays may have been victorious in Sumatra, but Malays still come from the Malay Peninsula and ancient Indochina, who were marginalized by new arrivals from South China, namely the ancestors of the Vietnamese, Thais and others who made Indochina what it is today. -There is no history of the origin of the nation emerging from an island. -Japan alone claims that its ancestors came from the Korean peninsula who migrated to the island of Japan. -Conclusion:Malaysian Malays are not immigrants from Sumatra. -The Sumatran Malays are also not immigrants, they are natives of the island of Sumatra, just like the Japanese on the island of Japan.

Dude... Dr M fucked the country by encouraging ethnic and religious tensions. The industrialization would had to happen either way but the idea of the national car and affirmative action held the country back from being actually advanced like Singapore or Republic of Korea. it is weird if you know certain things to a level. Maori also has their own priviliges in New Zealand, but Maori is not considered majority. Then, even though bumiputra privilige is in effect in Malaysia, non-Bumi like Chinese can excel in business to the point of being a millionaire. Out of 20 tops, 17 is of chinese ethnicity. Neigbouring country such as Phillipines, Indonesia, Thai have history of Chinese-targetting riot due to economic jealousy. Brunei and Malaysia did not follow suit even though Chinese ethnic is minority.
