@@chrishomer I was surprised that with that wind noise your tent didn’t see to be moving much. Definitely challenging when it’s very windy

@@Simon_J_Hodge_Outdoorswas only maybe 10kts in the afternoon, 15 gusting 25kts overnight and in the morning. It’s brilliantly aerodynamic, they’ve done a great job with the Elixir 1. I tension it lots and get the into wind side really low to the ground. Works well

Yes but we have Old Hill, Brierley Hill, Kate’s Hill, Rowley Hill and don’t forget Merry Hill! Surely you miss that? Ha, thanks mate. Definitely want to get up the Lawley at some point, unsure about the Wrekin, never been, isn’t it quite busy? I grew up hearing about going “around the Wrekin” 🤣

Fantastic night sky and sunrise. Great vantage point for the big expanse of sky , looked freezing though. That breakfast looked good , was that an end crust of bread though haha great detail of the fauna, alot of walk by with a heavy back pack , hope your back improves.BTW nice touch with the sheep poo shot 😉

Were them 'osses nibbling at yer tent? Or stomping around it? Well you were right to be excited about this one, it's a cracking spot in perfect photogenic conditions. I'm just glad your batteries held up with that cold! You definitely deserve that new sleep pad though... I'm not sure I've seen any vids of The Shropshire Hills where they look quite as spectacular as in your recent ones Chris, fair play. And have you gone for a 1 man version of your trusty Elixir now? If so, it's reassuring to see it coping up there - I've got one, but always chicken out of taking it up hills, and tend to use it on lower ground. It seemed pretty bomber for you!

Thanks Rich. There’s a great story I should have told about the ponies in the BTS but I forgot. That shot where they’re running off in the dark was the last bit of an interesting event… first step out the tent in the morning, an hour or so before sunrise, I saw them in the distance, they saw me, and 8 or so of them started sprinting toward me. I considered hiding in the tent. Yes, 6ft 2 bloke who thinks he’s tough and deadlifts 250kg was going to hide from a few ponies. 😂 anyway I stood my ground, and picked up my spiked tripod, and they eventually came to a halt 6ft away. Heart was beating, not gonna lie, they’re tougher than me… They stood there for a minute or so and sprinted off again, hundreds of metres over the hills. It was surreal, and that’s the bit of shot I captured. MSR Elixir 1… it’s pretty good. I won’t take it out in any winds stronger than this. It has a broken pole too. Which wasn’t caused by the wind. Had a look at pads. I ain’t spending that. Too cheap. Been using that £8 foil thing for a while, need to get a cheaper option. Cheers mate

@@chrishomer Hehe I know exactly that feeling when mahoosive livestock are making a beeline for you. I really like horses but still go into fight or flight a bit when they start heading my way with purpose... lots of very tough fellas out there that give them a wide berth! Great story though and still a striking shot of them galloping away. As for less eye wateringly expensive insulated pads, I did use a Klymit Insulated Static V for a good few years, seemed pretty decent, certainly comfy, and packs quite small. R value nowhere near what they claim, but put your foil mat and/or roll mat under it and it should be nice and warm. Still getting on for 100 quid though... (I love how the guy that will drop a grand on a lens won't spend more than 8 quid for his mattress. Sums you up mate😅) Here's to more quality C.H. films in 2024 👍

I have some big spiked feet I add on for these trips, work wonders. Bloody needed them this time! Still couldn’t use a long lens though. Carried it all the way up and down and didn’t use it. Ah well. Cheers mate see you soon
