How deep does your layout have to be to pull this off?

Things get paler and bluer at a distance; right. It's called atmospheric extinction. Thanks for the lowdown on this technique. I had been wondering how to properly execute it.

Very Informative. Thanks for the Tips. Although, I have seen some of it used before. My brother was building a HO Guage Layout (but passed away before completing it). Anyway, he had purchased a few Models that were labled as HO (but not specifically marked as 1:87). Upon assembling 2 of them (Houses), he found that they were much difference in size when place near each other. So, to overcome the problem, he placed the Smaller One towards the back of the Layout to give Forced Perspective. ps .. I was wondering if You might be able to give me an opinion on a query I have about my Layout. (I've asked this in a couple of other users videos to: I just want a couple of opinions) I'm building a N Guage Layout, but with a bit of a twist. I'm covering a much larger area than what would normally be done. There will be types of Dividing Scenery between sections. I'll be using a combination of Scales (@8 and/or @0 to match the @0, and a few @4 - as some models I have in mind only come in 1:100, @4, @0, @0). I was wondering if @0 or @0 would give suitable perspective when placed about 3 to 5 feet apart on a section that represents about 6 miles (as I feel using the @4 would give false perspective for the distance represented). The Landscape is virtually Flat, so no hills or such.
