Im shocked Tink Hence does not have that high of a potential. Hes one of the top pitching prospects. If you want his updated pitch mix, here it is. 4-Seam that averages about 94-95 with high break. Change up in the high 80s with extremely high break, its his out pitch. Mid-80s slider with decent break but lacks command. He also throws a curveball that has shown flashes but he doesn't use it often.

Really looking forward to a bit more pace in the beginning, just as long as you don't go too fast so we give the existing players on the roster a chance to connect before ushering in the new guys. It is partially what made the end of the A's franchise long sim so special. Seeing Kendrick Haynes and Gunnar Hoglund revive their careers were special cause we saw them be mediocre for the A's Looking forward to this series so much!

Please continue this series. As a Cardinals fan, I think they are in quite a bit of quandary right now. They are a franchise with a lot of history that are still trying to figure out the analytics system and eye test. Tbh, I am not a big fan of Oli Marmol with all his drama with Tyler O'Neill and Wilson Contreas. Mike Shlit kept all the drama within the clubhouse but his insistence not to embrace analytics was a major problem. We also failed to develop our young talent to a star level, if it was Jordan Walker, Maislin Wynn, or Victor Scott II nor any of our pitchers prospects such as Jordan Hicks, Jack Flaherty, and Jordan Montgomery, etc. Loved your assessment of the current team being too old.

Great choice of team for the series. I'd get through the first 3 years or so pretty quick, focus on the decline of the older guys, the trade returns and the drafts....then we'll get to see more of the draftees and trade pickups

As a lifelong Cards fan, I think your assessment of our last decade and our current team was spot on. It sounds like whining when you complain about a team that's won 11 WS, but the last decade has been really ... dull. I rarely felt like the team had championship potential, and now that they're all getting old, I think you're right. This team will struggle in the division this year. Excited to see how YOU rebuild them!

Like many other Cards fans have pointed out, your roster assessment is spot on. Although it has it's glaring holes, I think this roster has enough exciting young players to build a team around. Hey Cain, excited as always for any series of yours, and I just wanted to share how I play MLB franchise mode (been using this for 3 years running). So the biggest issue is trade logic, so what I do is I have trades turned off, and do manual trades in 2 instances. 1st is if a contending team has a long term injury to a player they don't have a backup to, so I make a rental trade with a selling team. 2nd and the more time consuming one, is I'll open a spreadsheet and note down any contending team and then check what they're weaknesses are. Then I'll go through all the tanking teams and note what expiring contracts they have. Then I'll put those teams in a randomiser for that expiring contract and whoever pops up "wins" that player and I make the trade happen. So for example if a team is 2nd in their division and competing for a playoff spot without a good closer or a LHP or a DH I'll note all teams that need that player, and whoever pops up will get him. Then according to how good of a season he's having, I'll trade an A or B or C prospect to the selling team and so on. Yes it's very time consuming but it's really fun and adds customisation and a realistic feel to your franchise rather than 5th place team trading for a wildcard team's best player.

I really enjoyed your A's series. I do agree with you on the more sims the first season as you settle in to see what you have. Making trades and drafting/finding young talent, it will be nice to see them more once they are MLB ready rather than grinding them in the minors. I do hope the injury setting isn't as broken with some players as it seemed to be in the past. I can't wait to see what you do with this team from the lessons learned last year.

Fun choice for the new series! To me it seems like Masyn Wynn's hitting skills could probably use another year in the minors too, but I understand if keeping him with the majors makes this season more fun. Or to try for that PPI thingy! Same goes for Victor Scott, honestly, cuz if he can get that hitting into the 60s in the minors then he might be really useful with that speed. And backup catcher Ivan Herrera should maybe start in the minors too, since he has B potential but is only 61 overall and looks like he needs daily reps to develop into a more solid backup. And you can likely find a currently-better backup catcher for cheap somewhere, I imagine. And if you're simming a bunch early on as you reshape the veteran-laden roster, then the exciting young guys like Wynn can be called up later on when you're playing more of the games. I look forward to trading away the vets, there should be some desperate teams down the stretch willing to give up decent prospects for vets of this caliber. They're legitimately good/great vets so some sweet deals to contenders (or wannabe contenders) wouldn't be too unrealistic, provided they're playing well of course. And I know Jordan Walker is a bad defender, but that 92 arm and 75 speed should still make him a good right fielder or something. He's got a chance to be a beast. Good luck with the series!

absolutely love this franchise! It's nice to see a team that is not absolutely horrible and also a team that I haven't seen anybody use yet. (fun idea maybe) you should go back and find Sydney Jean-Charles original ratings and recreate him, throw him in Double-A and let the game develop him on its own. kinda like a "custom prospect" so to speak. That would be awesome to see and then you could call him up in the future seasons if he ends up being decent!

Cane, make sure the roster you pick has Chase Davis rated properly. He was the cards first round pick last year and a super fun player. Base roster is always bad at giving some prospects good potentials (ie Im a mariners fan and our irl second overall prospect had D potential in game)
