It was a great honour to meet the MRI inventor in 2017 ❤❤❤

Here's an easier answer for those who don't understand technical talk.... No, it does not use radiation it's completely safe. that is if you're not wearing any metal then it can be dangerous (it could heat up in the magnet or be a projectile or it can get stuck to the magnet itself) Some things can be safe but cause an artifact on the images making it difficult to read and the radiographer may have to restart the scan or call it off. thats why you gotta tell them if you have any pacemakers, surgical clips, etc. most surgical clips for brain surgery nowadays are safe for MRI but if you got them back in the day, they are not. always inform them first. thats why they ask so many questions first, be sure you know about this stuff beforehand. Also another thing, let them know if you have any tattoo's and ask your tattoo artist if the ink has any metal in it. yes fun fact, some tattoo ink can have metal in it. So be aware of that and ask your tattoo artist if the ink they used has any metal in it before going in for your MRI as the ink can heat up from the high field magnet and can cause severe burns to you. If the ink does not have metal, you should be perfectly fine. Also piercings, no bueno. take em out before your scan even if it means you may need to get re-pierced.

3:37 what is that used for?

That’s a magnet ramp supply. It connects to the 18 coils inside the MRI magnet and either adds current or removes current depending on whether you are ramping your magnet up for clinical use, or ramping the magnet down if you are deinstalling the system. I didn’t really touch on it too much on this video but I will definitely include the process in a future video

in 1:20 why is this radioactive source use for? If i understand correctly this is not an electromagnetic radiation but it is a radioactive material inside.

A shorter way to describe an MRI quench button it basically heats up and overheats the magnets to where they lose their magnetic properties

These machines are amazing for what they do…with no moving parts! Maybe with the exception of the cold head assembly. I mean, it’s amazing! Quantum Physics amazing!

I've been watching videos on MRI's because I have 2 every year, they've never worried me, I just find them super interesting. That room you showed twards the end seemed a little ghetto, no offence, the one I visit is I a massive room, 6x7 metres at least.

If only we have MRI machines in the future which wasn't as jarring sounding. :)
