MRI results are Bad - but we're looking into the future of our Homestead

On August 18th we discovered that I had 2 masses growing in my stomach after picking potatoes. At this point, we're still waiting for the results of the biopsy, but the doctor said the masses don't look great. So we're prepping to hear THE bad news. Yet, staying focused on our dream of a simple life helps us stay strong. So this week we're making small straw bales for the winter that we'll use to keep our flock warm in the cold months. It's an easy project and we're doing it together, that's what matters.

More difficult is feel something is wrong and do not find what it is, as fast diagnosis is done, faster treatment will be. That feeling of being taking care and moving forward, you’ll feel better and more strong. While it's hard to hear a doctor say "it doesn't look good", the benefit of hearing that ahead of biopsy results is significant. It means that if it turns out to be malignant, you're already in that headspace. There's no awful shock. Your immediate response is positive, in the sense you only think "okay, so let's get started with a cure!". The bonus is that if it's benign, you get to experience a nice kind of shock ✌️

@@pm2886, clearly you have never been diagnosed with cancer. I found the rock hard lump in my breast. As soon as I felt it, I knew it was cancer. After the diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound, the radiologist, with tears in her eyes, said it was 95% cancer. NOTHING prepares you for when the doctor says, "Yes, we have confirmed what you suspected. It is cancer. Absolutely NOTHING!!!!!! I have complete 5 months of chemo, surgery, and 7 weeks of daily radiation in the span of 9 months. I am also on an aromitase inhibitor, and have started 2 years of daily maintenance chemo. Due to the aggressive nature of my cancer, I will be on medication for the next 7-10 years.

Don’t loose hope. I had a tumor on my ovary and was told it looks like cancer. Before the surgery was told if it was they would remove everything. When she opened me up doc thought the worst! Luckily she did a frozen biopsy right there and it came back benign . Had she not done that I would not have my daughter! Much love to you! Prayers you will get through this.

Hi Dan and Sindi so good to see you again. Great idea to bail the hay within a manageable size basket. Even Mason was there to help out. Elroy isn't interested and enjoys laying around. Sure hope things turn out for you and you can continue your adventure off grid. Had surgery to remove ovaries and 5 months went back to remove a tumor that grew the size of a baseball, very painful. Took an injection for 6 months. Made me sicker than I was before. Since then been better. Will be 74 next month but feel like I am in my 50's. lol. Take care and keep us up to date. Hope you have this settled soon.

I'm so sorry about the news but pls stay strong. Keep up the warrior attitude while doctors decide and implement the best way to go. Normally they recommend undergoing chemo and radio therapy to shrink the growths prior to operating.Four women in my family have undergone this procedure and are alive and in remission. So keep your faith up! You got this! ❤
