SPG Protection is given as per SPG Act of 1988 to PM , Former PM’s and their immediate family members . Security forces have their ways and means of doing threat assessment . Similar protection protocols apply to CM’s of state and DG Intelligence wing handles it in most states . It’s not PM/ CM who requests for increase or decrease of security it’s done specifically by security forces based on threat assessment. All VIP movements are controlled by them including route planning in advance . Sometimes public gets inconvenienced because of these movements , however across all countries these are the norms . There were numerous close calls also which was foiled by the SPG. Evenafter that people questioning the security given to our PM. What do they expect that our PM travels in a non armoured car without security and travel by economy class.

@@shaunsimon7828 Before the PM convoy arrives the road is closed. Thats the standard procedure. I am witness to it when Manmohan Singh visited Kerala. Most will wait until the convoy passes. This guy did other thing by going around the route. Closing or sanitizing the convoy route is the standard operating procedure before any VIP movement. How you find fault in this? Also PM visit a state how many times...may be 1 or 2., that too in selected cities. People suffer more from political rallies than PM movement.
