When I was about five I got an Erector Set similar to able to build many projects not quite as complicated as that. Absolutely my favorite toy if I may use that word. If I would have had a 3D printer 60 years ago oh my god look out world. I am so glad to see youth (under 65) using all the creative freedom they have now. Figure out a sales angle and make $1000000 selling friendship bracelets custom-made with the other person's hair in the center or something like that?

Hi mr inn nicely worked, but it looks like the green yarn is spun the other way towards the red, so the red one gets more twisted and the green looser in the process. And if you look in slow mo, the green is a little looser at the needles So try with two reds and see what happens.
@hamjudo Жыл бұрын
That is a cool design. Suggestion: Whenever the yarn gets too loose, too tight, or when one strand is significantly looser than the other, the yarn will get tangled. Add adjustable mechanisms to individually control the tension of each strand of yarn. The coil springs that guide the yarn into the needles probably influence the tension, but they don't appear to be easily adjustable. Note that I have no experience with yarn or string tension. My only experience is with a DIY mechanism that controls the tension of 8mm rope using a 5kg counterweight. That took many tries to get working consistently.

thanks for the suggestions...

You need to run the yarn through a resistance pad to add tension while knitting ( on the Feed side) and add a coiler drum underneath so that will add tension on the outgoing and to the needles whilst knitting, Just study how a hand knitting machine works and you will see how tension is achieved, if you saw one of the little hand crank machine used to produce this item you will see they add a weight to the outgoing, Hope this helps

This is really wonderful!! What a great school project too! Maybe you could do a braiding machine next, with more spindles?

*_Better and much more beautiful than new!! Good job_*
can you modify the machine to insulate cables from heat like in irons?
@marknahabedian1803 Жыл бұрын
This is really cool. It looks like there's a problem with the yarn slacking up as it comes off the cone spools. The yarn that is currently on top going across the top of the machine will temporarily be pulled tighter and the one across the bottom temporarily looser. The simplest thing to try would be to cross them in the middle so the one on top at the spool end is on the bottom at the knitting end. I don't know if that will be enough, but it is easy to try. Does the distance that the needles move match the distance between the two feed holes in the wheel above the needles. That could affect tension. Sewing machines are pretty clever about making sure that the path of the thread stats about the same length as the needle moves up and down. There are some pretty good videos about how a sewing machine works. I'd expect knitted cird to be much more stretchy than woven or braided cord. There's a Japanese braided form called kumihimo. There's a lot of good instruction about how that's done.

What types of things can be created with the knit after it is done being created? I've never seen one of these before, so I am curious as to what can be done. Maybe hoodie strings or an accent to an outfit?
@Wyld1one Жыл бұрын
Could be simplified. Remove top axle, and thread holder. Top ring (above needles) - add plate with two holes and two pins on top(for bobbins) rotate this entire plate. So it goes bobbin to hole straight down to needle area. Vastly simplfies treading too.

Thank you for some interesting solutions. But, if I understand right, yoiu use at the moment only the half of your electronics. Why is the purpose of the rest of?
@hamjudo Жыл бұрын
It is a simple DC motor speed control for up to two motors. Since this device only uses one motor, the other half isn't needed. Any speed controller that can handle the motor would work.
