I used to go to church with Mr. Jake and Mrs. Joyce in their later years in Columbus, GA. He was always just as gracious and kind of a person as you see in the Gaither videos, and he was always smiling.

I've saw them several times at the old State Fairgrounds in Sacramento while I was growing up. I used to get there an hour early so I could sit in the front row. Loved this man and whomever he sang with. His smile is still contagious.

Jake was a friend of mine here in Columbus,, GA. We would eat scrambled dogs at the Dinglewood Pharmacy. It's a local treat. In spite of his heart problems, he spent a lot of time on the road. There's no one in gospel music like Jake.

I had the HONOR to meet this great MAN at the NQC in Louisville, Ky., several years ago. Such a gracious and kind man. My wife had her picture made with him. We talked for several minutes. What a treasure. What a wonderful man. GOD BLESS YOU, SIR.
