Dominican salon secretly relaxed my natural hair

So here is another one of my clients she has been coming to me for the past like 6 months or so here in there she definitely was going to another Dominican hair salon and as you can see there is some type of chemical in her hair a lot of salons not only Dominican are putting relaxer without the client knowing which is illegal but it's true it is sad so please do your research and ask questions just because a salon says Dominican does not mean they do not know what they're doing either I do not want you guys to think that either make sure you do your research and get as much knowledge as you can when it comes down to a hair as well have a open mind because not all the salons work the same and not every beautician does the same thing

This just happened to me. My beautiful 4b hair is completely ruined! I am going to blast Sashelvis Salon in Bowie, MD to as many people as I can. 90% of Dominican salons engage in anti-black practices such as relaxing kinky hair and charging more based on your texture because anti-blackness is a part of their colonized culture. DO NOT patronize Sashelvis Salons in Bowie, MD or Glen Burnie, MD.

I know this was 3 years ago but I went to the Dominican salon with my beautiful 3c 4a thick curly hair and wanna know can I sue for a situation like this???? I asked the lady washing my hair if they will use heat protectant so my curls wont be damaged. And all she replied with was "HUH" frowning her face up looking at me with an attitude (I should have left then). So i just was like never mind ill ask the lady who actually does the pressing out too make sure she puts heat protectant on my hair. The lady continues washing my hair and in Spanish thinking i couldn't understand, shes complaining talking about "muchos pelos" meaning to much hair. And saying multiple times "aye yai yai" explaining her frustration with my thick hair that I worked so hard on growing out. I then started to smell a STRONG chemical smell making my eyes burn and making me have to cough. The lady washing my hair began wheezing too. I thought it was coming from the other girl next to me getting her hair done, i thought she had requested some type of chemical process... The lady proceeded to put me under the dryer and and when i got out my hair was extremely loosened and limped. I'm coming to conclusion she snuck in a relaxer and claimed it was a deep conditioner. I am so upset they need to be asking for consent if they want to chemically alter YOUR HAIR that took YOUR time, energy, patience and dedication to grow out. If somebody see this and had a similar experience please tell me what yall did about this violation.

And yes for sure there are salons that do sneak in and put a relaxer or texturizer in the hair like a treatment or a conditioner some salon do that sadly Yea all I can say is do your research b4 you go to any salon and for sure anyone that is complaining about your hair being thick that’s there job as a hairstylist is to do hair and if it’s not something you’re passionate about why do it and then give a bad name and reputation to the people they are good so I I understand completely that is crazy I am so sorry that happened to you love And honestly all I could say is if you could find a good salon that does hair care you could definitely start going there to get your hair treated and back to being healthy so definitely go to a trained person with her knowledge and could take care of you here to get it back healthy And that is why when I worked in the salon that I owned I worked by myself for that same reason there are a lot of beauticians they are doing it just for the money and at the end of the day if that is not something you love doing why I do it does it want to make that money and that is it and that is not what it’s about it’s about helping the person have the best here they could have and taking care of their hair and helping to hear it get better than what they started out with

This literally happened to me yesterday & has happened to me in the past as well. This time, I literally asked them not to put keratin in my hair & they did it anyway. I was furious!!! I had just finished growing a relaxer out of my hair & they put another right back in without my consent and even with me literally telling them “no chemicals, no keratin”. I had to embarrass their asses and got my money back but it still isn’t worth all the time, effort and patience it took to grow my hair back out completely natural. I’m not doing Dominican salons ever again, they are lazy & don’t respect black women and our hair.

They ARE USING Perm In the conditioner which is why it breaks off. They never neutralize the conditioner so it breaks off your hair.

The happened to me i went to a Dominican salon to get me hair washed and and blowed dryed. To weeks later i washed my hair the whole apt smelled like chemicals! my natural texture was damn near straight! My hair was falling out soon as the water hit it. My hair was falling out for almost 6 months 2 inches from the root.

You can’t really smell it with the shampoo and you’re in a salon where there is a lot of different hair smells

About the heat damage ? or about after it happened? I say make sure you have to use heat protection in your hair any time there is heat being added if your doing it your self or at a salon you have to know who you going to do your research. And when it’s this bad I just say cut as much as it need and help it grow back The cutting is the part people do not like to do lol
