I adore the big shelf, chair, and rattan shade 😍 Plus the DIYs and decorations are just so cool 😎 However I do think, rather than dark stripes, whimsical lines and curves in a really light shade of tan/nude would make the room feel bigger and more refreshing. Kinda like if the Hawaiian air or wind was given form

Your DIY projects are great. I LOVE your tote-bag holder for the bedding. I would use the tote to put the bedding back in the bag for a clean look on the shelf with all the other sheets and blankets. Love the Tote-bag for the bedding..... “or you could go shopping with it as well” 😉

Miffed at my rental company. Saw the "before" pictures of our home months before we got it, and they had arguably dated ceiling fans, but FANS, and they put it boob lights in most of the upstairs rooms. Might hire an electrician to see if they left the wiring in place to put in our own fans.

The wooden garland: I found some bags of wood chunks (like 1inch sticks cut into pieces) at the Dollar tree. I drilled a hole through each piece and strung them together with wire so I could shape it how I wanted it to drape and voila! Wooden garland for like 3 bucks.

This transformation was pretty… The plaid pillow near the end ISN’T chartreuse, though. Chartreuse is more of a bright lime yellowish green. That is more yellow. I wish I had Kate’s eye for design. The room looks so GOOD! I’ve always wanted a trundle bed since I was little reading Laura Ingalls Wilder books.

It looks good. I think I would have not painted the walls with stripes, I think there is too much going on pattern and even colorwise especially with the yellow bedding clashing with the different blues and other neutrals. Without the stripes I think it would've worked even better!

I love the trundle bed, but not for this space. Everything looks a little cramped and I wasn’t a fan of the boob light renovation 😅 or the little wooden stones. Just me? I liked the stripes and the shelving though!

One of the many things I love about Kate and Joey is they always do things right. Even when taking short cuts they don’t half-a** anything. Full effort in showing the right way of doing things. I really like a lot of the individual elements you have, and the DIYs, but it doesn’t quite go together. (Just my opinion!) Like some of the other rooms you’ve done in Hawaii. I LOVE the furniture from your line, but they don’t really fit with the themes/overall feeling of the rooms (like the blue bed in this neutral room, the striped chairs in the living room & studio bedroom). Some of the elements stick out (like a sore thumb, not like an accent). Maybe it looks different in person. Again, just my opinion! You guys are super talented! (But we can’t win ‘em all.)
