I LOVE when people Think they know BUT Dont. Depending on which state depends on How much the truck can Gross.... 36.5 tons here in Pa, 73,280. That being said, it depends on how much the truck weighs empty. My pete alm body air ride tri axle empty 23,500.. allowing me to carry 25 tons. My KW 28,200 empty steel body chalmers suspend carry only 22 tons. So it's the Empty weight that allows what a truck can carry.

Thats Nuts, they allow gross of 80,000 in NJ, for me TOO much for a tri.

I ran a big DM800 for a concrete company 88,000 lbs gross on a 65000 lb tandem axle. Twin sticks and 7 spoke 12x 24.5 rubber. 23000 lb steer axle. Great truck.

My tri axle trucks in Indiana can haul 20 tons and 68,000 lbs. Total weight. But it varies where you go. The same trucks in Ohio haul 13 tons, Illinois 13 tons, Michigan 12 tons, Nebraska 20 tons, Florida 20 tons, and whatever will fit in the truck in Kentucky lol. But even in Kentucky we didn't haul over 25 tons. 36 tons wouldn't physically fit in the bed of that truck. It would be pouring over the sides.

Ia agree he may have well grossed 36 tons. Thus 72,000 lbs. But he did not even come close to 36 tons. I used to haul 26 tons in a triaxle truck. In Tn we can gross 74,000 lbs on a Triaxle. And my truck was a low-weight truck. Just ran the numbers, you paid for 24.5 tons. Figure it up at what you have per ton. Take away the haul bill. Figures work out to the right weight he had on the truck.

I'm new to dump trucks...tractor trailer is where I spent the first 10 years of my trucking career....whats the deal with the federal bridge laws....there is a chart showing how many axles and how long the axles are between eachother (from steers to most rear axle) and tri axles generally only are allowed around 65,000 lb total gross weight on bridges considering the average tri axle is around 22 feet from rear axle to steer.... Is the simple answer just to avoid bridges and on every other road you are allowed to gross 80,000 lbs?

You paid for 36 tons and got 23 tons of stone dum dum. Maybe look at the stone ticket from the quarry next time before paying an invoice

Back in 2000 to 2002 i drove a 16 ft triaxle in Lex Ky. My gross weight was 80000 lbs. My mt weight was 26500 lbs. 53500 lb pay load. 1st load of day. Had 1 days worth of fuel. Fun times.

In the winter during tobacco season we'd pop the bed off bolt up a 5th wheel add airlines and be a tractor trailer till spring.
