Updated 2025 Candle Collection - Did I finally move EVERYTHING into 1 closet???

Ive pulled back since last year. I burn every single day but i think i have roughly around 400 candles still and way more wax melts. I started getting overwhelmed too and i dont wanna feel that way about something i genuinely love

When I moved after my husband died, I moved with 5 children, a dog, a cat and 400 candles lol.. I moved myself, bubble wrapping each candle. I spent a friggin fortune on bubble wrap, way more than I thought it would be. Only help I had was my father was driving the UHaul since I don't drive trucks. One trip completely filling the UHaul was only the candles and one small dresser. My father thought I was out of my mind. 🤣🤣 I have great storage here but if I had fewer children, not using all my bedrooms, I would just make an empty bedroom into a candle room and store that way. Maybe in retirement lol. 🤷🏻‍♀

Way to go! Wow, that was a lot of candles. 😅 Years ago, I think I had close to 30 candles…mostly Yankee and some BBW. That was the most I’ve ever had in my collection. I agree with you about not getting too attached to a certain scent since there are a plethora of scents out there! No need to hoard. Thanks for sharing your experience. 😊

Congrats on reducing your candle collection to a manageable amount. I remember when you had a lot of Homeworx Hot Cider Donut and the Farmstand Collection to now a shelf. That's wonderful and inspiring.

Way to go on getting your candle collection into the closet at the end of the hall! 🙌 It feels so satisfying to get the collection under control & enjoy more favorite candles every day. I enjoy having my collection on one small bookcase so I can see every fragrance by season & brand. I had to move in the hottest part of summer 2024. I packed & transported my candle collection in my car-it was so much easier than the prior move. Great job again, Melanie. Here’s to enjoying 2025 candles! 🎉

I got into the candles around the same time. I graduated with my 1st degree and transferred to a university for nursing while working full time. I had great lost over the years and was so stressed. I found the home fragrance was a little distraction from the stress. It consumed me too. When we bought our house in 2017, I wouldn't let the movers touch them either 😂 I loaded my car many times. It was NOT fun and I was sick. I sold a bunch on Mercari too. I became less interested a few years ago because Bbw was renaming and repackaging. So I was let down after being excited. The hunt wasn't as fun. YC wasn't as good either. I do love Scentsy now. I have a closet full of candles still. I melt more than burn. I have 2 lamps and 1 crock. Lots of Scentsy warmers and bars. I don't think I have bought a bbw 3 wick in a few years.

Your videos have really made me look at candles in a different way, I can definitely find myself obsessed as well. You really give good advice.. and I know this was a work in progress for you. Great job! I need to make sure I keep it under control as well.. scentsy is easy to become obsessed with and Kringle candles have become something I love!

Congratulations Melanie! How neat and organized! I finally have my collection down to the two cabinets on either side of my fireplace. One is for spring/summer and the other is for fall/winter. My goal for this year is to NOT BUY any more until I have used ALL of the ones I currently have. After that, I think I'll buy on a monthly basis, preferably clearance or deeply discounted ones.

You’ve done a great job whittling down and organizing your candle collection to fit in your closest. You even look like you have some empty space there on the third shelf down. Doesn’t it just feel great to accomplish a goal? I’ve been pretty minimal with my candles purchases the last few years compared to how I used to shop for them, but I know that approach isn’t for everyone. I’ve reused some of those Kringle candle crates too! ❄️

Yes, I'm feeling good about the progress I've made! That slightly empty shelf has since been filled with my Christmas warmers as I am taking them down.

Melanie, congratulations on your dwindled candle collection!!!!! You wanted us to fill you in on our own. Well, I burned/warmed 153 candles in 2024 and purchased 46 candles (Homeworx 13, Kringle 18, and BBW 15). I am very pleased with myself. Yesterday, I placed a Slatkin & Co (BBW) 2011 Frosted Cranberry in the recycle bin!! I was shocked with the age of the candle, although it burned and smelled like a champ! Oh, the old Slatkin & Co candles were so good back in the day!!!!! I thought my oldest candles were 2014/2015 so I was shocked coming across a 2011. Now for 2025, so far, Homeworx 2, Kringle 4, and BBW 1. I just could not pass on some of the great end of the year sales out there. I think within a year, I will be where I want to be with my collection. Where you and I differ, I do not have a problem with burning a candle and placing it back on the shelf to burn something else. I simply rotate between 6-8 candles at a time until they are usually finished around the same time. This gives me the variety I like .and prevents me from getting bored with a fragrance.

Amazing work!! It always feels so good to see a goal accomplished! I still have 200+ candles, but I did cut my buying in half in 2024 compared to 2023. I'm going to try to cut it in half again during 2025. All the floral/perfume Kringles, and the burn/throw from Homeworx has helped me control myself a bit, but I'm still buying 2 of every Kringle gourmand that appeals to me. I have 3 regular Jelly Donut, and 1 of the 4 wicks. I have 1 of the Macaron 4 wicks along with 2 Sweet Cream backups on the way. 🤣 The struggle is real with those amazing Kringle gourmand scents. As you said in your budgeting video, I don't spend money on anything expensive except candles, and I have a thing for home decor. We have to do what makes us happy, and I'm trying to exercise more moderation. Thank you for sharing your goals and progress! It's inspiring to me, for sure. 💕

I know, it’s a never-ending struggle! I completely understand the desire to try something new. I think limiting the amount of each new scent worked well for me. I just didn't allow myself to automatically add 8 to my cart lol. Not easy but boy does that make a big difference.

This year, my goal is to truly enjoy my current stash while being more intentional with future buys. Instead of stocking up on endless backups, I want to focus on enjoying each burn and leaving space for new discoveries (and new candle companies)!

I don't burn candles, but I do melt Scentsy. My bars have gotten way out of control for me. I recently counted my inventory and about died. I have 382 bars, 46 partial bars, and 16 bricks partially used. Ugh! My goal is to cut it by 50% in one and a half to two years. I'm giving myself that long because I know there will be new scents coming out that I may like, and I'm limiting what I purchase to only those new scents that I like.

In still working on melting my wax melt collection. I did good with my low buy in 2024. Continuing strong in 2025. 6 days in & still zero wax purchased. My last wax purchase was in November 2024 for Scentsy holiday bars

Bravo Melanie! It’s good to be proud of a smaller collection. I’ve only gotten into candles the last couple or so years but yes it’s out of control. Been dreading going through everything and getting rid of stuff I don’t like etc. I started out buying wallflower refills, mists and hand soaps and it’s expanded to other products. My grandson asked why I have so many mists and I said they keep putting more out!😂😳i love my stuff but sometimes I feel embarrassed about the amount. Idk if I’m quite ready for where you’re at lol but hopefully I can make better decisions in 2025 and maybe eventually get to where you are😊Tfs❤️

That's so cool Melanie! Look how far you've come with dwindling your stash. What a great goal. Angie over on Got Candles? channel has roughly 600 candles, I have about a third of that. I used to store mine in the bedroom closet and two broke so I had to move them out to the shop in the backyard and organized them with YC being in the back and the other brands being around them. Congrats on getting them into the closet :D
