This song sounded like the prayer warriors make to God , asking for forgiveness for the blood they’re about to spill, before going to war. Kendrick is sonning Drake, but he’s also continuing the theme that Drake doesn’t know himself and is have an identity crisis from constantly twisting himself into different personas. Most people, especially black have a different way of moving (presenting themselves) between work and home. But Drake is constantly changing himself physically, verbally, etc for different occasions. Basically, Drake can’t accept himself whatever/whoever that person may be.

You're one of my favorite reactors BECAUSE you stop every line or so. You notice soooo much more than most of these guys just off an initial listen. That is part of YOUR reaction to what you're listening to and the amount of knowledge that gets triggered out of your brain is part of that - which means you gotta stop and get out the thought or it's hard to come back to it. As an ADHDer, I feel that, so you really are my pace and I love soaking up what you know. It's so fun. Keep doing you man.

Jeraminah 6:16 "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’" This is probably in reference to his line "who am i if i don't go to war?", battling with his need to be seen as a "good person" while knowing what his inner morality is telling him to defend. In fact, from Ephesians to Revelations all the 6:16 quotes just sound like call backs to this whole situation. This also ties in to when he says "i make music that electrify em, you make music that pacify them" because you literally have to read the bible to understand just how hard this song goes, further layering onto the moral high ground Kendrick is taking against drake.

I have a different interpretation of the shooting star verse. I think he's saying that his art comes from his upbringing, his introspection, his struggle with the culture but the culture at its core was love and elevates him. It comes at a cost, everything he talked about on Mr. Morale. Fame degrades Kendrick's soul. Which is why he lives in the circadian rhythm of a shooting star, dead and quiet most of the time but flashes where he lights up the night sky and reminds everyone there's interstellar magic out there.
