I'm from the deep south. This is southern delicacy that's usually cooked on Sunday's or for special occasions and holidays. Grits pair well with salmon croquettes too. I didn't cook grits for a while because I had me an Al Green moment a couple of years ago. But when I do, I can only eat them with cheese. Your dish looks delish as always.

Ooh my my… Looking good! I have prepared shrimp and grits many times, but now… I got to go with fish and grits. I really like the jalapeño and onion add in to the cheesy grits. I try to keep stone ground grits on hand. These grits take longer to cook, but people who say they don’t care for grits, love the stone ground grits. I use a method I learned watching ATK fixing shrimp and grits. Toasting the grits with a TBS of butter a few minutes, then cook in heavy cream and whole milk about 30 minutes. Can’t Waite to fix this.

I've always wanted to know how to make tasty soul food dishes, and unfortunately I avoided the kitchen growing up because my mama mocked me a Lot because I needed measurements. Sensitive me decided that I would be rich and have a chef when I grew up....Well you're it! I made this two days ago because I was craving grits as my mama could make them perfectly growing up. I was proud of the grits and though t about making them with the shrimp from your quick shrimp and grits recipe- buuuut, my mama happened to have some catfish already and said I could use hers, she told me she had some fish fry but I was like: I wanna follow the recipe- I went to three stores looking for the better than bouillon lobster but no one has it , so I substituted it with some shrimp pasted from the Asian store. I bought your seasonings too. If I tell you that my mama made a happy plate...i ' m going to order th at Lobster base because I'm curious to know how it tastes...it took me forever though.

This is how I make my grits too; but I only like to use stone ground grits (which is getting harder to find 😔), and let them cook slow - they're SO CREAMY!!! 🤤🤤😋

Wanna level this up even more. Make the gifts the day before. Lay them out on lined sheet pan and let them sit in the fridge overnight. Cut the chilled grits into squares and shallow fry them. Ain’t nothing better than fried grits!
