Tuning is DADGAD in case anyone was wondering. His use of the tuning here is inspired, it's a marvel.

Thanks Alan...one of the benefits of knowing Michael since he played my art college in 87 is that I got to go to the recording. That's me far left front row grinning like a loon. Check out the trio version of another story, Michael Steve and Martin play together beautifully

Went to see him play as a result of seeing this. He's still going too.

first heard this (prob on John Peel) around 54 yrs ago and tried to find it for ages thinking the title was 'slightly blue'. Then got Postcards on a sampler album and realised it was him and found in the valley. Had a ticket to see him just before covid but was cancelled and never got another chance. RIP

Thanks for putting this on. Wonderful guitar work by the legendary Michael Chapman. If I look him when I hit 80, I will be well pleased!

Amazing! I can't beleive I have only just discovered this guy - I have been listening to Roy Harper for over 30 years, how on earth have I never come across Michael Chapman?

Better late than never! Chapman is amazing. Nice guy too. See him live if you get the chance. Now if only Harper would tour the States...

What a great version of this song. The guitar sound is fabulous and his fingers just get nimbler with age.

Thanks so much for posting this, Marc - like tony, I somehow managed to miss the original broadcast. I've been a fan for 40+ years but only got to see Michael for the first time on his October tour, and this was one of the highlights. That descending guitar figure at around 4 minutes is something magical. No question - he's the finest acoustic guitar player Britain's ever produced (with all due respect to Martin Simpson on his left!)

Nah, pretty sure it's drop D. Chapman is convinced this is the tuning guitars were designed for.
