This is one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded... I love the way Painters Link transitions into Sunset and the way Kate paints these dramatic emotional landscapes with the lyrics.... This was the soundtrack to my mom's memorial video. Sunsets always make me think of her on the other side....

This song is so full of life in all its coulours and even the break with silience is filled with longing and expectation. The blackbird did sing and composed something so magical that seisons love universe and time are all captured in harmony. To love this is loving summer, yourself and the quiet nights dreaming away of her bathing in the waves. Its way back now, yet as vibrant as I heard the first time and still deeply moved by it.

Yes I thought this was her - I was on the beach in Mallorca - I had this on speakers from my tiny little disc man but it was all we had and my husband turned up and we drank champagne on the beach (private no one knew about it) and we drank together and watched the sun go down - he was 23 and I was 22 and to say it was Heaven.. and understatement. What gifts we have life - these precious moments. Keep us close to your hearts x experience this beauty whilst you can x how beautiful was ''Bertie'' and then to hear him now on ''50 words for snow'' sometimes I feel like Kate gives me so much, is almost too much. I dont feel this with any other - but with her - she touches Carl Jungs Mother and the Sacred feminine and beauty at once - its too much to bear, are we allowed tastes of Heaven like this?

You don't know why? In this original version you hear the voice of Rolf Harris who was convicted in 2014 of the sexual assault of four underage girls. Of course his voice was removed. In the new version you hear Kate's son Albert McIntosh, called "Bertie".

Used to listen to this a lot when an old family friend died....he'd been in a lot of pain with a progressive illness and was begging to go. I grew up watching him bring his family up and be a great friend to everyone, amazing sense of humour. A very skilled engineer who'd seen some of the world when younger in the Merchant Navy. I was very happy when older that he always had time for me, esp. when I dropped off a couple of fresh rabbits for his wife to make into a pie for their tea. Sadly missed but fond memories of 'JB'

despite the voice of the painter that later discredited himself, I find this original version of this song where in the chorus Kate's voice is doubled singing 'so all the colors run, see what they have become. Oh wonderful sunset...' of the purest sincerity and makes me feel in awe of this remarkable woman...

That's an interesting interpretation on the lyrics. The way I view it is that she was singing about creators of art, music, happiness.. or even just life itself. All the 'colors of the sky' touching the world we all live in. And when she sings 'climb into bed' and turn to dust - like a metaphor, for all creators forgotten when they should be remembered the color that they brought into the world. I'm not sure that discredit is a word that I would use, rather than merely placed into a metaphorical gallery that no one ever visits, all listens to. I don't know, that's just how I interpret the lyrics.

Well some styles have a specific aesthetic that the creators have chosen as a symbolic creative decision. I like Kate Bush really well, & I am fond of some postmodernism certainly. But I ( for instance ) also really like Lucinda Williams as a performer who writes & performers in a very un-postmodern genre, known by some as alt.country It's just a matter of personal preference I suppose.

Well MrMarrs, I've watched a few of your KZbin videos of Kate's songs and been blown away by the link you have with her soul expressed in your beautiful videos. The broadcaster most likely to play any songs from this album is the BBC, and the BBC will never show or play anything which remotely references Rolf Harris. As I said, this is such a good album, and I will still listen to it - but going forward I should think generally people will refrain from playing or buying it. And that is a shame.

Rolf Harris is on this album for less than a minute..... the album is over an hour long! Most people hearing a one off track on the radio would not even know that Rolf Harris was on the album and on top of that, Kate fans who did know, would not judge Kate's beautiful work for this so I really don't see your point... Furthermore, you can easily just delete the Rolf Harris tracks and it still flows beautifully!!

Tori Faerie No it doesn't! Even Kate herself said that her albums are arranged in context and that the singles she releases are simply the highlights of something much more complete. You cannot just delete a few tracks and still claim that the album is complete. Also, I never said I wouldn't listen to it again. I just said it's a shame that fewer people will buy it and that the tracks on this album will no longer be broadcast to a wider audience.

I agree with the disclaimers and sincerely enjoyed your videos thinking it was only the song which was fair use. But honestly when I saw this suddenly from Vila's "Nature by Numbers" video, I thought it would be best to comment that he is credited with that incredible sunflower/tessellation/dragonfly sequence.
