4K/60p: LIRR Shuttle M3 Front Window Atlantic Terminal to Jamaica

Taken 3/14/23 during the Nor'easter. Watching the Snow Flurries while pulling into Jamaica was so beautiful. It was good we were spared of having a foot of Snow as some areas North of us really took a hit. Enjoy!

What was the old branch line at 15:49? I’m guessing it went along Conduit avenue as the surface rods seem to curve off Atlantic ave at about that point? Where did that branch go? It also looks like it could also have been a station too.

That was the old cutoff to the Rockaway Branch. It joined the elevated right of way to the Rockaways. That portion still exists, with the portion past Liberty Ave being used by the A train. The station was Woodhaven Junction which had platforms on the elevated line.

@@ericbecker7249 The station in the tunnel was Woodhaven. The station upstairs on the Rockaway Beach Branch was Woodhaven Junction.

That was a long ass tunnel! Jamaica Ave station has almost more platforms as grand central!

With a bit of engineering you could turn this over to rapid transit and relieve the long Island Rail Road of this line and make a more seamless connection eith Brooklyn and queens

Train jumped the bumping post a few years back, so this is the norm now

@@LIPDProductionsInc I can understand the slow inbound. But outbound, too? Ain't that overkill or are the train operators too dense to know the difference?

You have to run your Train length up to the Signal. And they make the Conductors be up front with the Engineer so if the Train hits the bumper block, BOTH get interviewed. Makes no sense.
