Playstation along side having good launches with Astro & FF7 Rebirth. They also had Helldivers 2 (playstation IP), Stellar Blade & Rise of the Ronin (Koei Tecmo's fastest selling game). So they've had a lot of wins as well. The PS5 Pro thing is fake outrage. As far as price to performance, $700 is reasonable. You can't a new gaming PC with that same performance for $700. 4K/60 with RT on. I mean hell, GT7 being played at 8K on the Pro.

I'm a Playstation guy, through and through. But nothing about the PS5 Pro showed me that this thing is head and shoulders better, or a worthwhile upgrade over my base PS5. It's still amazing hardware as is, and in no way is it suddenly inferior just because the Pro exists. I'm better of just waiting for the PS6, whenever that comes out. Having said that, if these price points are the new norm for the future, I would definitely have to consider moving to PC if it starts becoming an overly expensive endeavor. Where I live, the PS5 Pro would cost me over $1000 by the time my set up is complete. That is no longer "casual gaming" on my part. That is an investment that starts to creep into a tier where there are better options available.

A lot of those games are ported from the PlayStation and a LOT of games are not even available on the PlayStation and probably never will. Add to that all those emulators you can use to play games from older PlayStation models (that are not even playable on the PS5-Pro by the way), and to run games that run on other hardware (like the Switch, Wii, GameCube and more). Try that on the PS5-Pro. On top of that, you can use a PC for a LOT more things than only gaming. For instance CAD design, Music production with DAW's, 3D design (Blender or a commercial program), Slicers for 3D printing, Graphic design, Video editing in a professional way, and many, many more things. Oh - And you can play all those games comfortably from the couch, using a HDMI cable to your TV and a wireless controller. No need to sit at a desk or something. And in the long therm the PC is even cheaper, because even if there is a need to upgrade parts after several (6+) years, then you just purchase that bit that needs a upgrade. That is a LOT cheaper than buying a complete new system. Not bad for just a bit more money, don't you think?

I won't pay $1000 for a phone. Won't pay it for a TV. Won't pay it for a PC. Won't pay it for a sound system. And certainly not a game console. If that is the next gens starting price, it's going to be a tough sell. Developers will once again have to dumb down development because the majority of the base will stick with the current generation. Cross-gen will be the norm. The PS5 Pro is going to be the test run. I suspect that even though it's not at the $1000 mark , it won't be a big seller. The promise being made sounds just the promises for the current generation. I don't believe developers have gotten the most out of what we currently have. To me this generation has been disappointing. The big titles just aren't here. And now they can't wait to run for the next round? The game industry is in for some tough times ahead. Prices out of control and games players don't want. Not a good combo.

I don't know why people, Matty included in this case, have this idea of consoles reaching a "power point" where they can just do 4k 60 no matter what. It really just shows a fundamental lack of understanding of technology in regards to video games. Because they already can do 4K 60. It has nothing to do with the "power" of the console. All thats needed to display a game in 4k resolution at 60 FPS is the required amount of bandwidth. Which PS5 and even a base PS4 already had. It doesn't happen because developers make their games too big and too detailed for the APU/SOC that they consoles have in it. We can't have everything. Doesn't matter if its Naughty Dog making the game, or the people that made Gollum. Its just mathematics. Only a certain amount of data can be processed and rendered within a set amount of time, depending on what that gpu, cpu, and memory combination is. If developers make their games in a such a way that there is too much data to be processed within that amount of time, the game can no longer be 60FPS. Its just that simple. You could stuff a 4090 into the PS5 pro and developers will still find a way to exceed that limit. But then people will cry that it costs $2000. On top of that, there is the very basic principle that a console is not a PC. Its a small, quiet, plastic box. There are power requirements to run these massive GPUs that we have in PCs. Those high power requirements also necessitate proper cooling. Which makes a lot of noise. You can't just stuff a massively powered chip into a PS5 and send it out there. It would need a bigger and more efficient power supply too. Sony is more than capable of requisitioning more powerful hardware from AMD to put in their console. But the price, power, cooling, and noise requirements are near impossible to package into a sub $1000 box the size of a PS5. It isn't and has never been the console manufacturers fault that games don't run the way players want them to. Its the game developers that keep pushing things too far. But then again they only do it because if a game doesn't look as pretty as the next game, they get crapped on. If a game looks "basic" but runs well they still get crapped on because it looks "bad".

Yup and the time you're referring to is time for rendering. If the game renders faster than the game can keep up with, you get 30 fps and lower. Also whatever screen you're playing on matters as well. More math. Can your TV even run at 60 fps because if not you're not getting even if the game can handle it consistently. If the math ain't mathing, you get 30 or lower. Switching to PC myself. Should have done it long time ago but I work alot.

I have a PS5 with disc, I only have digital games Ghost of Tsisospspal All Spider-Man games Harry Potter I only really play Spider-Man and have no need for the Pro. I really hope this situation blows up further and also shines some light on the PS PLUS price increase that happened last year. It is absolutely ridiculous to me that Sony is charging as much as they are for such a pathetic service. The fact I pay an internet bill and yet they restrict me. The fact that my $80 a year is wasted ONLY on FAILS like Concord, Knack, and Deathloop, and NEVER on any remasters of beloved IPs and RARELY on new ones. The fact that youll pay money for a game, say Destiny2, and then you realize that SONY fucking owns them, making the yearly buy-in EVEN MORE egregious. Then you think 8 years, $100 a year; you cant play the game or any of its conet without PS PLUS so another $80 a year; microtransactions range from $10-100 and maybe you buy a few so maybe another $50; Then you pay an average of say $60 a month for Internet which Sony MOST LIKELY has stocks in, so another $5760(over 8 years) and then OFC the console price $700(pandemic pricing still in effect); TV price you could include but I'm not. In total, Sony is milking the average person, annually, for about $200 just to simply play 1 game online. Factor in all the other costs in the pursuit of gaming and over an 8 year period you might be spending close to $10,000 and again, this just the average person who might only buy a few games/microtransactions a year and including cost of services. Absolutely illegal activity if you ask me. Thanks for also coming to my rant.

Very small nitpick (I could be wrong, so feel free to correct me), but Destiny 2 (technically) is free to play and exempt from the PS Plus requirement, right? My sister doesn't pay for PS Plus and she can still play Fortnite. Everything else, though, you're right. Having to pay for online memberships on top of full-priced games just made me move to single-player and free-to-play on Xbox, since they operate under a similar scheme with Game Pass now.

@TKAandMore Destiny is free to download and demo. Without Ps plus, you are limited to just destinations and i noticed also onslaught for whatever reason. Without PSPlus you can't anything else, not even base game strikes or cruicible. To anyone that says Destiny is free to play, it's not, you can walk around and do bounties. That's it. Also there's are a few games you can play without psplus such as Fortnite, Overwatch 2, CoD Warzone, Apex, Warframe, and Rocket League, just to name a few popular titles, but I don't play these. Even then, at some point and more likely than not, people will spend money on that title they like for more access to content. Nothings truly free either when you think about the fact you're paying for Internet access with whatever provider you have and more likely than not, Sony or even Microsoft probably has stock in that company therefore you're paying them regardless.

It also depends on the game. As the DF guy said about GTA, their style of games use a lot of processing power, which will be bottle necked by an outdated CPU. This is why Starfield was built for a locked 30 FPS, even on PC. You can cram a 4090 and pump the game to Max settings and still only get like 40 FPS (JayzTwoCents did a great video about it). It seems to be built into the games engine (Creation Engine 2.0) because the game's frame rate is CPU bound. The game keeps track of every item's placement and status. You can pick up a wrench in New Atlantis, take it to Neon, drop it in a house, fly across the galaxy and come back to find that same wrench in the same spot you left it. This is also why Baldur's Gate 3 runs the way it does. This is also why Civilization games run like dog shit 3/4 of the way through a game because the game is computing more and more processes as the game continues

Like I know PCs are expensive up front (more so if you go crazy), but the down the road aspect always seems over looked. For 700 dollars I updated my GPU in my living room PC, moved that GPU to my main machine, and took that GPU to be used in another computer for transcoding. All my machines got upgraded from that one purchase. If I were to take the living room PC, and upgrade to a AMD5 CPU as of right now I would be spending 500. Which then I can either store the old parts to build a 4th PC for about 300 more or take the CPU and upgrade my main machine with it. My machines aren't boxes that are one and done. I can update, and fix my own machines. I get why people like consoles, but the moment you want to have crazy graphics and performance, a PC is just a better long term investment. My games from back in 2009 still run so I don't need backwards compatibility to be promised to me. Games are just cheaper with all the sales Steam has. Mods allow people to fix games publishers won't, or enhance them to make them better. Plus my PCs aren't just gaming boxes, I can use them for other things.

Why don't people get that the example given with LOU2 is about the fps and not necessarily the graphics? Like they said, the pro is about providing people with the fidelity mode and better ray tracing while maintaining smooth 60fps, something the base ps5 doesn't have and cannot do. Most people don't play in fidelity mode to begin with; hence the difference will be more visible for them. And most importantly those games aren't developed from the ground up to utilize the pros hardware upgrades, so of course you cannot see what its truly capable of... People really need to calm down! From a pc gamers pov, there is nothing wrong with the pro and its pricing. It's completely normal that if you run a game on pc with high settings and 4k resolution with barely 30 fps, and you want to upgrade your pc to be able to run it with the highest settings in 4k while maintaining smooth 60 fps, it will cost you some sweet money. Thats how it is. And there are always diminishing returns especially the higher you go. The 4090 is not cheap, and the difference to a 4070 is not huge. But it's an option for enthusiasts with money, who want to enjoy it the best possible way. I think that's what the pro is about. And it's great to see that console players get a new option for an upgrade. And to be honest/fair 250$ for an additional 1 tb ssd storage plus CPU and GPU upgrade and the cool software tools and AI to enhance the performance and resolution upscale while making it run more smoothly, is ok price wise!

The market has changed since the last release of a GTA. Which was 2013, I believe. Studios now design games to work on a lot of different machines, including modest PC specs. This game will likely play fine on Series S even. And if plays well on Series S, then it will likely be playable on Steam Deck. With that said, I think 60 fps might be a possibility on consoles. GTA6 doesn't need to be a technical marvel to thrive. Most games that are popular don't have amazing visuals and put emphasis on performance. GTA5 and RDR2 are still overall more impressive than many current gen games and they do it with low spec requirements. So I personally believe the focus should be on 60 fps, but have a 30 fps for extra fidelity.

I would like to add a couple of thing as someone who dose not live in a developed nation. I think you forgetting there is a huge market outside 10 developed nations. Asia serves as 60% of gaming industry revenue. 1st Iphone targets sale of 20 million units to call it success. 2nd The Target Coustmer of Iphone specially in these undeveloped nation is the ultra rich ( usually old who dont even have time) 3rd Apple earns by selling phone and not software, they want highest matgin in hardware first. Unlike gaming industry. Because in gaming one can only sell hardware once every lets say 4 5 yrs in developed natjon and once every 10 yrs in undeveloped. (I know people who still wanting to upgrade ps3 to ps4). A 1000 usd console in lets say next 3 yrs would mean end of console gaming as we know it. It have multiple cascading effect.
