@@julioalcaraz5417 Were you by chance in your 20's then? The reason I ask is because I once read somewhere, "If you want to know who a person is, look at the music they listened to when they were in their 20's." And, btw, never feel bad about being 'stuck in the 80's, those were great years!

@@melanier3479 I always knew what Kyrie Eleison meant but missed knowing that that was what the song said, until 2019 when I found a video of it on KZbin that actually had the words. Gives me chills a bit too. Knowing that. Changes the whole song, is certainly true. Heard this song when I was young in the '80's, already loved the song and the tune then but could not make out most of the words. Now I think of it as one of the "Kyrie" pieces of music although it is not an actual church song. Beautiful words, beautiful tune, beautiful song, beautiful singing, beautiful video. Glad to hear that you feel the same way. Just thought I'd let you know. ☺️

One of the greatest songs of the 80’s ! For us Aussies of Greek background, this song celebrated our language on a world stage. Kyrie eleison is Greek for ‘Lord have mercy’ ! More importantly however the message of the song has given hope to many who struggled through dark times. Never get tired hearing this song ! Such an exciting decade to grow up in !!

This song came up in my recommended this evening. Lord knows I must’ve really needed to hear it for healing. I did a clean out of a very close and dear relative’s home today and it was one of the saddest things ever to touch her clothes and sort through the memories. On top of that she passed away in a very tragic way without warning. I’ve been so heartbroken. I ask for God’s mercy.

"Kyrie Eleison" is Greek for "Lord, have mercy." It is used as a prayer in both Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox services. Greek was the original language of the New Testament, which was later translated to Latin. This song is credited to lead singer Richard Page, keyboardist Steve George and lyricist John Lang.
@woodshed_moments
@woodshed_moments Жыл бұрын
The roots of "Kyrie Eleison" you say are not entirely accurate, not to be confused with anything Catholic or even its coptic tributaries, because they didn't happen until after the 3rd century AD, where is it is true it was a common expression amongst the churches in Asia Minor [that of course would include Greece and Turkey] it has a sad history rooted in the martyrdom of those early Church saints.

When I was a kid I didn't even know that it said "Kyrie Eleison" as in the Kyrie. And the only difference is that we KNOW and can PROVE that Mr Mister, exist, whereas god and baby jebus, we absolutely CAN'T. Also Mr Mister make awesome tunes like this one Fantasy, immoral, imaginary, inhuman, hateful, mafia boss, sky daddy and Co, don't. They insight hatred in many and indoctrination in others. So I think we can leave the fact that some words in this incredibly powerful and stunning song, happen to also be in that ridiculous and horrific, hateful, disgusting book of utter drivel, as nothing more than they sounded good, which they did and that they then made the song sound incredible. Other than that, so what about "god"? PROVE he exists first and just maybe we can discuss this more. Until then... STFU. Thank you.

As a boy growing up in the 80s, I was taught that ALL rock/pop music came from the devil. But knowing Kyrie Eleison meant “Lord have mercy” from my Catholic upbringing, and hearing this song all over the radio, I KNEW what I was taught wasn’t right. This song was the turning point for me to discover an AMAZING world in rock and popular music that simply celebrated the glory and joy of positive energy and goodness. This song lives in my soul forever because of its pivotal influence in my life and my career. I will NEVER tire of hearing “Kyrie Eleison down the road that I MUST travel!!!” 👊🎸💯🙏✝️

This song always gives me a energy boost! I certainly do hope that during this selection cycle we can get rid of all that ridiculousness that has been going on ever since 2020 and we can get back to taking care of our own people making sure people have what they need can afford to live where they are and do everything that they need to to make sure they are free to continue to do what they do. The song gives me the strength to remember that God is always with us, regardless of where we are regards to what we do regardless of what we have done and where we May God, protect and bless all of us, and made this song stand as a one heck of a reminder of how powerful love, kindness, tenderness, strengths, all matter, weakness, crime, and everything else that is nasty be damned, because now as long as we are together as long as we can pull together as long as we are strong, we will pull out of the swamp, and this song reminds me so much of that that we can do it if we allow him to help us God bless

Great Christian band whose songs are so beautifully orchestrated with an added bonus of reaching your very soul - I didn't truly appreciate Mr Mister until "Kyrie" was released! I long for music like this and am saddened the current generation cannot see the beauty in the lyrics of a song that leaves permanent "footprints" on your heart! Kudos Mr Mister for sharing your talent with the world! God bless you & yours & thank you - especially for the gift of music & the song, Kyrie!

There is a quality in these songs that modern artists really don't seem to find. The lyrics are great too. I was born in 81, but wish I'd been born a decade earlier sometimes. It would have been great to go to one of these concerts back in the day. The 80s had so many banging tunes. I was happy to live through the 90s, but I still often am called back to the 80s.

"Kyrie" is one of those 80's songs that has that special definitive sound that seems to bring back the nostalgia stronger than some other 80's songs. Even more so than Mr. Mister's more commonly played "Broken Wings". The nostalgia from "Kyrie" hits me right from the opening notes and throughout.

But when I learned what the chorus actually meant...the entire song rose to a whole new level...and now my eyes tear up every time I hear it...realizing that soaring voice in the opening is crying out to the Lord.
