How to Doodle Your Own Zentangle Patterns (Part 2: Advanced Tools) - Step by Step Drawing Tutorial

This step by step tutorial teaches you how to doodle your own Zentangle patterns. Following last week's tutorial, we discuss three extra tools that Zentangle doodlers use to make new patterns. The three concepts discussed in this video are juxtaposition, scaling (or resizing), and combining multiple ideas into one.
Juxtaposition refers to the usage of very different elements in close proximity in order to create a clashing feeling. This is one way to create contrast without needing different values or different colors.
Scaling, or resizing, refers to changing the sizes of similar objects. Depending on how this is done, it can create the illusion of depth or it can be another way to create juxtaposition. Repeated scale changes can also create a rhythmic feel, akin to music.
Combining several tools together is an effective way to create a large amount of interest in a small amount of space. This really gets at the crux of what doodling and Zentangles are truly all about.
