While this tutorial is not all-inclusive, it should give you plenty of ideas for getting started with making up your own Zentangle patterns.
Learn how to use simple lines and shapes to create your own fill patterns, branch patterns, and path-following patterns. Learn how to use different sized pens and different amounts of detail to create patterns with lighter or darker overall values. Learn how to use auras, stems, and rotations to add interest to your patterns.
