STACEY-faced Malibu BARBIE is my all-time favorite barbie. That was the one barbie I always wanted but, I only got the later superstar-faced Malibu BARBIE that came in the shiny red, ribbed, halter bathingsuit. My very first Malibu doll I ever got was the Malibu PJ in the lavender halter bathingsuit. But now as an adult, I have alot of STACEY-faced Malibu BARBIE dolls. Just wish I could of had one to play with when I was little! LOL :o/

Love your video, never get tired of watching well done ones about vintage. The Midge head was used for PJ and Live Action Christie. Two must have books are the Joe Blittman Barbie and Francie Mod era. These handily tell you which outfit pieces are hard to find and harder. Someone gave you hair tips for your ponytail doll. So easy to curl the end after conditioning with fabric softener,, but put a piece of kitchen wipe paper over the end before rolling, dip in just off the boil water for a minute then cold. I am in the UK currently in hospital. If treatment fails, I will donate some of my collection to a museum and put the rest on eBay. Hell of a lot of outfits, including I think all Barbie's 1968 ones, a few fashions in original packaging. A lot for Francie too, plus Twiggy and Julia.

Jaqueline Hamlett Sorry to hear you are ill. Sounds like you have a heck of a collection! I love looking through collector's books and seeing all they came out with. I have a book that also shows pictures of dolls that weren't released.

Thanks, I'm fighting it. Always been doll mad, and also have US & British Tressy, plus Dawn, Cher, Farrah and Diana Ross. All the early Barbie's came in a swimsuit. It was not until they started bringing out the personality dolls in the late 60s that they thought about issuing them in dresses. Think the first was grow hair Francie and the one with hair pieces, followed by grow hair Barbie the following year. The flowered dress on the brunette TNT is a Darci. Love the striped Cher top. I remember seeing a photo of her in it holding Chastity. She had a scarf of the same fabric tied at the nape and massive hoop earrings.

The super wonky eyes actually make Midge more valuable! It’s called Side Glance Eye and even though it looks derpy it’s more rare!

Thats common with glue age on vintage doll shoes. Id glue it. Barbie went through hard times in the early 70’s they started to loose business during that time ,surprisingly. Thats why in the 80’s she got a whole new look to revamp barbie for business.

I was there when all those originals first came out- and they all were in bathing suits . You had to buy the outfits separate. people complained right away and they started dressing hem.

Sweet Mandi Lee - Believe it or not your favorite, Midge - which is mine as well - has the same face mold as P.J. My ultimate favorite!! - I’m 54 now and none of my family would be interested in my fairly small vintage collection therefore when I “kick it out” - I would love to leave them to you! - My favorite is my “New and groovy” talking P.J. Never removed from the box!! - you can still smell the newness when you stick your nose in the hole on the back of the box where her pull string is. 🤗 Had two and sold one! - They’re all so cool and even as a child I loved P.J. - I remember having a dream about her as life size and we were riding bikes! - the dream was fun but really kinda freaked me out with her being that size - 😳😳 I want to live forever and I’m not dying at the current moment, but I just love the way you love your dolls! - Save my name and I’ll try to remember you’re name. - Or maybe send me a friend request or something? - I’m not a total expert but I have been collecting off and on for 30+ years now. I live in Paducah Ky and my fb page has my big cheesy smile. 😂 I did buy a pregnant Midge once back in the 90’s and Mattel pulled it from the shelves since it became controversial! - Whatever Mattel!- I couldn’t resist taking her out of her box though 😳 - I Just had to put a wedding dress on her! 😂😂 Nite nite!

I love Midge, the original Barbie is beautiful, but Midge is more like a regular girl. Francie might be my favourite though, Barbie's Mod cousin.

If you want to learn more about vintage Barbie clothing, I would suggest the "Barbie Doll Fashion" book series of collector books by Sarah Sink Eames. Mattel released nice reproductions of Winter Holiday and Resort Set a couple years ago as part of their "Let's play Barbie" line. If you want a good reproduction of a #1, look for "Original Teenage Model" Barbie and the "My Favorite Couple" Barbie and Ken wedding gift set that was released in 2009.

I love your three "flavors" of Midge. I love Midge too. The original Mod PJ (not Malibu PJ) had Midge's face. I always like to think that Mod PJ was just Midge with a modern upgrade. I love the original Allan too. I like his face, he always looks like he's up to something. :-) I always enjoy your videos.

the pj that came with ur malibu barbie has the vintage midge sculpt...the one with the steffie pj was in the 80s ur ponytail if im not mistaken comes with a gown n nit the bathing suit mattel issued several ponytail with there hair up on bun n fancy jewelries ans several different gowns the earing that came with the ponytails on the zebra swimsuit is loop metal n makes the ear green i love ur dolls

I love the midge dolls. The hair on the malibu barbies is the easiest to clean up if found a mess. And they hold up for my 2 year old so that's a plus to them. I agree they are not the prettiest but funny my 2 year old loves their plain look best. Lol.

My original Barbie is a #4 I got when I was 8 years old. I love that doll so much! I'm so glad I still have her. I enjoy sewing for her. Yours is terrific! I'm so glad you love her too. I am really enjoying your videos. Thanks so much for making them. QUESTION; you mentioned splayed legs on Skipper in a previous video. My Midge is splayed leg and I wonder if she might be a test market. Her eye paint is pretty bright but her lips have faded.

I only know of Skipper having this trait - I have read that splayed legs on Barbie and Midge are a result of them being in a sitting position for a long time.

The Bowling Barbie you held up is not a reproduction. I have her too - but if you don't know, the quality of that bowling ball bag is terrible. Mine fell completely apart. The nice bowling ball I now keep (with trophy) inside the Winter Holiday plaid zipper bag. Also, the Busy Gal doll you held up was originally only an outfit, one of the very early ones for Barbie.

You could always do a Google image search to get an idea of which dolls you like - there are so many to collect, I am discovering new ones all the time! Also check eBay and local thrift stores.

Mandi Lee I have been looking on eBay but I want rare ones and I don’t know what ones are rare what aren’t I don’t know how to tell reproduction from original....I definitely know I want I think it’s fashion queen Barbie, she comes with wigs! And I know I want the side characters not Just Barbie! There’s so much to learn and of course I can’t get to any thrift stores right when my new obsession starts lol 😂

CaloriesInCaloriesOut4Life I haven't noticed anything major other than the expected sort of musty "age smell". I think one of my Midge dolls and the Ponytail Barbie had a little shine on their faces, but I've found that a gentle cleaning with some dish soap and a toothbrush will take care of that.
