4K Short Film "Paradise on Earth" Koufonisia Islands Greece

This video is about two small Eastern Cyclades Islands, of the Aegean Sea in Greece called Koufonisia. It was recorded in August 2015 all by myself with the valuable attention of my good friends George T, Panos T, Kostis K and the always smiling Sofia G. Its dedicated to all those people I met in Koufonisia the last two decades but mostly to the locals who are keeping this small paradise clean and prepared for all of us to spend our precious summer holidays. A picture worths a thousand words but moving 4K pictures worth 1 zillion words. Try to watch it in 4K capable monitors & televisions. Also pump up the volume a bit!!!

you don't know how much this video means to me... last year I was there when you made it and when I returned home, I had to face the tragic fact that my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer... she passed away in January, and since than I suffer from the worst depression and panic attacks... After watching your video I bought a ticket to Thira and on Sunday the ferry will take me to my beloved Koufonissi and all the great folks there...THANKS SO MUCH FOR PUTTING ME ON MY FEET AGAIN...

I can't understand it but I am so glad others can see it this way,,,:-) I was waiting two weeks for the winds to calm down and was thinking the flight of the drone. 4 x batteries burnt, one morning, with a full manual DJI Phantom 2 (full manual!) and a night with friends and drinks on the best beach bar of the planet capturing 1200 raw astrophotos on a robotic 3D arm which was moving some mm the camera after the shot was taken for the next shot for the Timelapse of the MilkyWay as the ending scene of the saga.....:-)

hello Passajero - despite all my mental problems after my beloved mother's passing your video helped me to fly to Koufonissi this year - I spent another month in Paradise, and yes, you are right: the best people... Manos (manager), Panos (a perfect gentleman) and Yanni (hardest working kid in town) at Paradise Beach Hotel, the great folks at Captain Nikitas tavern; Nikitas and his wonderful café balcony with all kinds of cacti; Mimis and Nena at Scholio; the owners of Gavstronautis tavern; Yanni and Ari at El Greco bar...and not to forget my beloved nudists: Nikos (forever young), Eleni (our belle de jour) and Yorgos (sharp-dressed man) from Athens; Martina, Olav, Daniela, Howard and pretty little David from Vienna - they all showed me that I'm not alone... Very nice work, we were there when you filmed this, august 25th to septembre 9th 2015, we remember seeing the drones flying around. This really shows the beauty of Pano and Kato Koufonissi islands. Great work. We hope to go back next year again, We love this place. We hope it will not become too crowdy, it is already crowdy compare to 12 years ago when we started to go there.

Always June. Flight to Santorin, Ferry to Koufonissi, car pick up at Naxos, 2 or 3 wonderful weeks on Koufonissi, some days on Naxos at the end and flight to Athens from Naxos. Staying at a great house above Pori. SUP and Kitesurfing at Pori is mindblowing. In the evening to one of the wondeful taverns and enjoying the great ice cream at Fystiki, walking to the Port with the kids to see the ferries and so on. Just a real awesome place to be. Your movie is the best I have ever seen about the island.

@@Passajero I am not Greek or have any Greek ancestors but when you say " the simplicity, the language, the history, the brains, the sky, the food, the scenery, the clouds, the smells, the monuments, the beaches" I think your judgment is fair because I could say the exact same words to explain why I love Greece. There's one more reason: the people. Filoxenia is more than just hospitality, it's a joy in receiving the outsider, and I feel that every time I go to Greece I am Brazilian but I live in San Francisco and I would move to Greece tomorrow if I could, even knowing about the political and economical problems, the unemployment, etc. The fact is that I feel more at home in Greece than I feel in my own home country. It started 11 years ago when I first visited; I fell in love and now I watch the movies of Theo Angelopoulos and Yorgos Lanthimos, read Constantinos Kavafis and Nikos Kazantzakis and have 20 Rebetiko CD's in my phone; I listen to Markos Vamvakaris and Giorgios Dalaras and Mikis Theodorakis, but also the Villagers of Ioannina City I just came back from 2 weeks in the Mani, which is a magical place and I am already planning my next trip to Greece, probably to Karpathos. But after this video, who knows, maybe I'll see you soon in Koufomisia.

Im very late to comment, but there is something very mysterious about this island and Im wondering if you saw if with your drone. I believe the south peninsula - where google maps shows "ai vasilis" beach is all privately owned and it appears there is a huge villa complex. This is I believe the site where thousands of illicit antiquities were uncovered in a raid by greek Authorities. If you have ever flown your drone over, or know any information about this I would find it very interesting. Great video nonetheless

Its never late mate! Welcome and I am glad you liked the video. It is a video I did for my love of this place when there were no drones at all back then. Today is totally different situation. I do not understand which is the "ai Vasilis" area you mention but the whole islands around there (inc Koufonisia) in Small Cyclades are very rich in archaeological findings. Google and find the movie act Keros Island and the excavations being done there for more than 20 years from the University of Cambridge and Sir Colin Renfrew. The findings are unbelievable around this whole area!!! There was a recent article in Newsweek art it...have a look....magnificent Greece ....:-)

unfortunately it's too crowded while at the same time new buildings are built everywhere.. the island is very small for so many people... it's not Zante, Rhodes or Corfu... respect that!

@@Passajero yes we go there every year the last 8 years; we'll go again this year but for less days.. and if that continues unfortunately we'll stop going... it's not vacation (for us) to be anxious if you'll find a space in the beach or you should make reservations...
