Ha!! It’s both amusing and annoying seeing that more than seven years ago there were whiny little pussies crying about appropriation and so on. As though humans hadn’t been moving constantly and blending in with their new surroundings. I bet you ten crispy, brand new dollars that douche was white too. Pathetic.

Appropriation of culture, there is a term for everything now. How about being happy that your culture has elements that are beautiful to the rest of the world? How about being happy that others take inspiration from your culture? We all benefit when we contribute, share, exchange ideas relating to food, medicine, fashion, and many other aspects of life. Inb4 you're white. I'm not white and when others borrow, use, reference my culture, I feel a little bit more proud.
@sonyaseger12 жыл бұрын
I like Native American art and apparel because I appreciate beautiful things. If someone wears something because they value it and they admire the craftsmanship of something, nobody should criticize them just because they aren't Native American. I don't know if you have ever thought about that, but I feel this way and I would hope you wouldn't think bad of me for wearing something made by Native Americans.

feedmeeplease1 Native American here, it is pretty offensive when you consider what happened to most Native people, however it isn't a huge deal in a modern sense.

Tea San empathy and sympathy don't abide by rules like that, if you're affected negatively by something "shutting up" isn't a tenable option: i'm going to write this about this person on this wall [call Tracy for a good time] and only Tracy has a right to complain about it... guys can get upset for Tracy, it isn't just on her shoulders or her fabricated demographic more typically people keep bad jokes and stereotypes going because they become traditional and stopping them seems like slapping grandma on the wrist, grandma can handle it

I'm native american, and what this headdress means is a power position, the chief of the tribe. I don't find it disrespectful. If she was tearing it up or trampling on it, then that would be disrespectful to our American native peoples. What I could take as the meaning of this is that women are getting the power nowadays they didn't have in the past. Love this song!!! ELECTRO INDIE ROCKS!!

@babysealslippers As someone who has interacted with some Lakotas and Seminole in FL, I have to say: some descendants of Native American ancestors look like everyday Americans. Tru fact. We all come in all shapes and colors. I am just glad the picture shows her wearing and ordinary shirt-shows the photographer wasn't trying to perpetuate stereotype of Nat Ams as being a bunch of naked dancing people. There is some cultural sensitivity there.

Definetely this has by far more meaning. But the quality of the photo tells us that she's a model. In this function, she plays a role. And the character she is representing maybe earned to wear it. It's a possibility our minds can think about and be inspired by. So I understand if some peoply are questioning this symbol, but for myself, I see it as a creative display of cultural appreciation.
