Will this young man be left with scarring? I was one of the very few people who rarely had any acne. Thank goodness, because I scar terribly and always had a low self esteem. I would still get teased if I ever got one. That would usually be the “popular” people who more often than not had bad skin.
@dixierae3442 Жыл бұрын
@@roburz62 I'm so sorry to hear that you were teased in school. Fortunately I didn't have to go through that but someone who did was my son. He was very sensitive and this is what the bullies look for. It would break my heart watching him walking to the school and try to disappear. The good news he's very successful and popular today. He's the drummer in a great rock band and is surrounded by best buds. Bullies usually end up without friends because if people get older they have no desire to put up with their nonsense and kids with softer hearts become the popular ones. Hope things have turned out well for you.

Ikr! I thankfully have pretty mild acne.. but I also have dermatillomania so I'll pick at spots and make them so, so much worse than it would've been if I'd just left it alone. Caused myself lots of pain and scarring I could've avoided if only I could control myself, but it's so incredibly difficult. Not just on my face or with acne, I've caused open wounds on any kind of skin irregularity and even my nails, but for some reason my face is my 'favorite' spot You'd think the shame I feel afterwards would be a good deterrent but apparently not. Can even be telling myself in the moment, "stop, this is bad for you, you're gonna regret it, this is going to take forever to heal," but it's almost like I go into a trance while doing it and it's so difficult to break out of. I do it more when I'm stressed too, and then I'll become more stressed about what I did to myself, and it just perpetuates Not sure if these videos help or make it worse lol, but either way they're definitely satisfying. And it makes me happy to see just how much this young man's skin is improving from his treatment!

As a teenager, I had severe cystic acne all over my back... I "lovingly" referred to it as "bacne". It was embarrassing and humiliating... especially during the summer. I ALWAYS wore a t shirt over my swimsuit. The one time I remember not covering up, I was made so much fun of by some of the popular girls. Their hurtful comments and remarks followed me until I graduated high school... so for 6 years. It warms my heart to see such a caring and compassionate dr caring for this young man! Thank you!!!

@lizzylou36 Жыл бұрын
I had bacne when I was a teen, too. Very little on my face and moderate on my back. Being a popaholic did not help in any way, ugh! I remember doing the same t-shirt thing for many more years then I probably needed to. It does traumatize you and shape your personality dealing with it. There were 5 kids in my family so we were poor and you had to be legit dying before we were going to the Dr, let alone a dermatologist. One day when I was about 18 or 19 I had this brilliant idea to change up the order in which I showered and scrub my back and body AFTER I rinsed the conditioner from my hair. And oh wow, what a difference that made within a month or less. I got fewer and fewer after that and of course your hormones change when you get into your 20's. I haven't had a pimple anywhere on my body in probably 25 years. After so much time goes by it feels like it barely ever happened now. It's funny how you can forget something like that when it consumed so much of my brain every summer. And now..... just a tiny blip on my radar. I have so much empathy for the people that continue to struggle with it throughout their adulthood. Honestly, I'd likely be a different person overall if I was still dealing with it and all the scarring. Scars don't let you forget all the things you'd rather forget. Thank you for sharing your story. I never really comment but your experience was like my own and a little bit of support never hurt anyone. 😊

Thank you Greg for your dedication to your patients and also for teaching the medical community and the rest of us how to properly treat the different presentations of the inflammatory nodules as opposed to the white and black heads. I never knew that I could do more damage to something inflamed but thanks to you now I know. A big thank you to your patient for sharing his progress and I look forward to seeing even more incredible results 🙏👍

2:55 I’m watching this series again. One of my favs! What I appreciate is that you explain the patients challenges and the treatment possibilities. I also think it’s great that you explain the medical terms for the conditions. Great job as always! You could teach…maybe in the future?
