This reminds me of a similar situation a party of mine had. We had a cart, but we had lost the owlbears we had pulling it and had to replace them with an elk. We had horses originally, but a wearbear and his bear friends killed them early on. One of us suggested putting the Elk on watch, we thought it was funny, and did it. The Elk rolled very low, causing us to get ambushed by two mages, three animated armor, and three scorpions (regular, tiny scorpions). The elk and half the party was dead in two fireballs, the cart was burning to the ground, one of the mages had mind controlled our hobgoblin cleric-turned-dragon, and one of the scorpions got three crits in a row. The fact we survived was a miracle and we turned the other mage into our intern after we found out why he attacked us, which was because we did not look like a normal adventuring party at all and portals to other planes were opening up in the forest.

So I told them i would tell a story (the odysse in a child friendly version) and that they could affect the story with their drawings. So we had the odysse with sausages, pie, lego, tanks, lighters, giant spiders and seal mermaids. It was great fun and lots of Laughs were released. I had an awesome DM moment. Early in the campaign I gave my players a strange amulet that required attunment. Nobody knew what it did, experts, wizards, even players because my world is homebrewed so they cant look it up. My paladin (Desmond) decides it looks cool and keeps it equipped and attuned. Flash forward 1 year (real world time) the party is tracking down a sniper assassin who has picked apart and nearly killed all of the party except Desmond. The sniper then announces "Chose who will die paladin, I want their blood to be on your hands." Heroically he puffs his chest out, and shouts back "I choose myself, I will not let them die while I still stand." I roll a nat 20 sneak attack, and instantly one shot him. Everyone is bummed out but we're all hyped up at the awesome roll play going on. I continue to run combat and hear the player say "I guess I'll start dividing up the magic items, hey what did that amulet do." Hearing that my eyes go like this 0__0 and is shout at the top of my lungs "DESMOND! DID YOU HAVE THE AMULET STILL ATUNED ?!" He confirms, and I announce a holy radiance flowing through him as his body resurrects, fully healed, spell-slots ignited, and he has advantage on all rolls for 1 minute. The amulet was from an ancient long forgotten god of death. He got his vengeance, and this moment is talked about at my table to this day.

The group was playing a One Piece Dnd campaign where they were a pirate crew . The crew was trying to go around a marine blocade since they didn't have the money to go through ( this was near the start of the campaign ) and they decided to sail around it . While sailing the find a small island with small wooden house . The crew decided to dock out of eyesight of the house and have the 2 snekiest characters stealth to the house while the rest of crew guarded the ship . Those 2 characters were William ( The captain of the crew and a Swashbuckling Rogue ) and Verona ( the crew Navigator and Fighter with an affinity for various gadgets and guns ) . So the 2 make their way to the house and find out an old man who mistook William for his son , who was the marine captain in charge of the blocade . After the 2 get as much information as they can out of old man they want to leave but the old wishes for his son to live with him until ha passes away ( which William didn't want to do ) . So William tells Verona to knock the old man out with the but of his gun which he does. So now the old man is lying unconscious on the floor bleeding from the temple , and what does William do ? He decides to kill the old man by cradling his head in his arms while he blows his brains with flintlock ! Which had the rest of the players and the DM go wait what ? The other characters joking about how much William enjoyed killing old men became a running gag in the campaign .

I drove home from work with the windows down and the sun roof of my car open, hair blowing in the wind as my music (led zeppelin) played loud and happily. It was a beautiful spring say an the warm sunlight felt great on my skin. I just had a horrible day at work with rude customers and terrible pain from a chronic illness of mine, so it was nice to have a moment where the good could drown out all the bad. I was happy, which tends to be a rarity for me. I felt happy and free... as if I could just keep driving for eternity in that sunshine and comfort. Life was good.

THEN the owner of the place changed things so extra forbidden letters were added every minute... in the last minute, when ONLY the letter A was NOT forbidden, the last remaining hero yelled "A!" and did something (you can't tell what) that made the villain go "HA HA!", and his spell backfired, and everyone else was back to normal...

There's this competition she does with the college prep teacher that if even one of the non-college prep students can pass the college prep marine biology test, he would take all the non-college prep kids on a field trip to the beach, museum and dinner. this competition had been running for a couple of years so far and not one student had been able to do it. I was the first to pass with a 96. I didn't do it for me, other students or anything, I just knew what it was like to be bullied, so I did it for my favorite teacher so she could stuff it in that college prep teacher's face! The trip was pretty awesome. the college prep teacher challenged us to take a picture of a prey vs. predator relationship while in the beach. We got one of the other students to eat a small crab. XD I was very popular that year.

Sorry for the novel. I once played in a Curse of Strahd campaign as a holy assaimar paladin of Pelor named Nix. We went around smiting evil all over Barovia until only Strahd remained. He was an oath of vengeance paladin so he was an extreme murder hobo with anything evil. Unfortunately, the moment he set foot in Barovia his descent began. In killing all those monsters slowly over time nix began enacting more and more harsh actions to eradicate evil. All the while the dark powers whispering in his ear feeding into his insecurities. By the time the campaign was nearing its end nix was unrecognizable. He had become an oathbreaker paladin of the dark powers with the curse of vampirism looming over his shoulder. The curse stated he needed to be killed by someone who hates him or he had to kill someone he loves to activate it. He as usual chooses hate. We get to the castle and he convinces the party to bring Ireena (Strahd's reincarnated lover) along to use as bait for Strahd. He promised Ireena that she will come out of this alive. The party and Ireena agree. What followed next was the most "wait.. what?" moments I've ever had. We find Strahds coffin and he nearly kills the whole party with a chain lightning spell and tries to take Ireena away from the party. Strahd's invisible and is coming for Ireena. The party is fucked up except for me at this point. Everyone else had less than a quarter of health left and we've done no damage to Strahd. I say to the DM "I would like to attack!" with a grin on my face. The DM says "You can't target Strahd he is invisible" I smile and say "I apologize I meant I would like to strike Ireena who is next to nix." the DM is shocked but lets me do it. he hits her and as a paladin smites her. She dies in a few hits. Strahd screams out in agony so much so he drops invisibility. "You killed my love, you bastard!!" He retreats into the shadows waiting to finish nix off not even acknowledging the rest of the party. Nix quickly casts revivify on Ireena. She comes back to life with 1 hp. Nix forces her up and puts a hand on her bare chest. Strahd is furious at this point but once again tries to steal Ireena away. "I hold my action to cast inflict wounds on Ireena" I say to the DM as Strahd rushes forward. What Nix says next sends Strahd over the edge just how nix wants it. "I am a paladin of the dark ones. I have been tasked to bring you misery as they have done before. I will kill your lover over and over again in front of you. It is as the dark ones wish!". At this point, the rest of the party had healed up and were ready to attack Strahd in force. Strahd lunged at nix and for the remainder of the fight solely targeted him and every turn nix held his action to kill Ireena if Strahd attempted to take her. Strahd used every spell in his arsenal to try and kill him disintegrate, Finger of death, and banishment to try and get him away from Ireena. The dark ones must have really been watching over me that day. Every saving throw I made I rolled at least over 18 and with an aura of protection I always saved over 25. The whole while my party hammered him while nix took all of Strahd's fury. Eventually, Strahd was on his last rope but at his last turn, he cast a final finger of death at nix He only had 4 hp left and it instantly killed nix. I asked the DM "Did Strahd hate nix when he killed him?" The DM said yes and looked horrified realizing what had just happened. The DM goes to describe nix falling over dead but the shadows swirl around his corpse and with a cackle of laughter nix rises off the floor a High Vampire. Nix's turn was next. Nix raises his sword looking at Strahd. Nix says "That's it. That's the look of despair I was tasked to give to you." nix attacks and one of them crits and kills Strahd. The rest of the party look at nix horrified at what had transpired. Ireena is in the corner with tears streaming down her face. The party contemplates killing nix right there and then. Nix explains to the party that he was damned a long time ago and always had plans to go to Avernus to try and save his brother from damnation. (A story for another time) The party to broken and exhausted for another fight relents. Later Nix goes to hell as promised and the party split up and leaves Barovia. That's how our campaign ended. “Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you.” - F. Nietzsche

Here's one that might fit this theme. A friend of ours decided he wanted to run a campaign in 3rd edition. He told the three of us to make level 20 characters, however we wanted, no restrictions, and as over powered as we wanted to. We spent several days working together making a trio of very powerful characters (kind of naturally falling into my character being in charge and they being my minions). Next time we all got together he asked for the sheets to look at. After collecting the sheets he thanked us for making the BBEGs of his campaign and told us to roll up 1st level characters. My brother just sat there stunned, unable to say anything. The other friend threw a giant fit, and was incredibly pissed off. And me? I just couldn't stop laughing. I thought it was hilarious and loved the idea.

Anyone knows Fools Gold? It was that DnD group drawn out on this one channel with one heck of a story involving a bunch of adventurers who were originally merchants with shady backgrounds. The story comes from the time they learn that a city they saved in the past was being invaded by their Magical girl's (homebrew) home country. She knew they wouldn't normally do this so she offered to be their ambassador to this country. First WTF moment, the capital has received a pretty princess makeover. They got to speak to the leader and learn that the kingdom was now being ruled by a former nemesis: The Potato girl. This was a poor girl from the beginning of the campaign who went to the future party member warforge's potion shop. At the time, the warforge was out of juice, so she became a see-eye old lady who would do things without thinking (she was later given a power crystal which got her back to her younger and more powerful state much later in the campaign). Girl asks for a potion that can instant-kill people. At first, the warforge thought it was suspicious, but due to how senile she was at the time, she sold it to the little girl and gave her a free potato as a bonus. That girl went to create a breed of poisonous potateos which she used to terrorized the small city. I forgot certain details, but at first, they tried to get rid of her potatoes by bargaining a trade for a pretty princess dress that their wild mage sentient monkey (who had a cursed touch that causes anything he touch to receive a curse that had random side affects. The dress in particular had a saving throw check that if wore, would cause the girl's intelligence to tank. Too bad the girl survived that curse). Eventually the girl got away but they didn't know she still got poisonous potatoes. In the time they went around questing, she was able to reach the capital of that Magical girl's home country (the town where everything happened was at the border to said country), and was able to poison her way up to getting adopted by the king and queen, killing them and those who would opposed her, and got the kingdom to submit to her by threat to poison their water supply if they don't comply. It was quite the Wait, what for them due to how this girl rose to power, especially when it turns out she executed the Magical girl's parents. Bonus: girl was defeated surprising easy despite her taking on an eldrich form to fight them, but the wait what that the DM and the group didn't expect was the moment the monkey (due to some weird ties he had to why he's a wild magic mage) suddenly got possessed. The monkey chose not to resist the possession, and their character ends up ripping out the heart of the girl and eating it. Damn

Okay, this is a long one, but screw it. It's not 1600+ words, so technically not long enough for the longer stories channel anyways. :P In our group, we have quite a few people who have taken a shot at DMing (in fact, I’m the only one who hasn’t at least once), but we have one guy who DMs the most often. Whether it be book campaigns or his own homebrew settings (of which many are linked and take place in the same world), this dude loves writing. And he’s mastered the art of the “Wait, what?” This story takes place in one of his shorter campaigns, one that only lasted a few sessions, but was real fun nonetheless. It took place in a hidden plane beyond time and space he called Qliphoth, which was a barren world used to harbor an evil eldritch abomination that threatened existence before. The issue is, this thing’s containment wasn’t perfect. It would reach through differents worlds and times to bring people into Qliphoth to gather the keys hidden in the plane to unlock its shackles, but in the end most of the people it gathered either gave up and just accepted they’d be trapped forever in Qliphoth, or ended up dying to the horrors within. Our party were the latest victims of this cycle, a bunch of high-level adventurers who ended up getting powered down to really low levels in the hellish dimension they were stuck in. Early on, we found a fairy in a rusted cage in the cave we woke up in. We never got an exact explanation of what she was doing stuck in Qliphoth, though some talk at the very end of the campaign with an NPC implies she might’ve been sent there by accident after a magical experiment. My sorcerer, Leon, found her and immediately took it upon himself to act as her protector. Leon’s a grumpy sourpuss, but his backstory had him protecting his younger sister after their noble house was burnt down by evil paladins, so he has a bit of a thing for wanting to protect the weak who can’t help themselves. Leon and this fairy quickly became close friends, which ended up leading to tragedy. Each of the keys holding the abomination was hidden around Qliphoth. One of which ended up being bound to the fairy’s soul, somehow--“Wait, what?” #1. While the abomination wanted us to just shove the fairy in the lock, the party and especially Leon wanted to find another way. Eventually, our journey led us to a strange mirror that let us see back into our original worlds. We were all taken to Qliphoth in our sleep, so when we peered into the mirror, we just saw our bodies all sleeping in the positions we left them. The fairy, though, didn’t see that. She said she saw a black void with an ivory-skinned woman looking at her--one that she said looked familiar, though she couldn’t place it. “Wait, what?” #2. At that point, a pale hand pushed through the mirror and held its palm out. Leon was hesitant, but the fairy assured him it would be fine to hand her over. The hand and fairy disappeared into the mirror, only for a few seconds later for two hands to pop out--one holding a very meek and weakened looking fairy, and the other holding the key we needed from her, which was an effigy in the shape of the fairy. Of note was that the key was actually BIGGER than the fairy herself, which we noted likely wasn’t a good sign considering the fairy claimed she felt ‘empty’ now. Leon was concerned and kept her close from that point onward, until the time came for the final battle. Eventually, with all other escape options crossed out, we realized we would have to release and then reseal the abomination if we wanted to get home. The abomination took the form of a strange puppet master with an entire court of puppets--all of which were recognizable to us, the players. “Wait, what” #3 was that the puppets it used all resembled the minions of one of this DM’s other villains he called the Daio Enma--a beautiful, yet deadly sorceress who finds herself the only one worthy to rule and judge the world. She had a court of magic users all specialized in different magical schools, and each of the abomination’s puppets was made in the image of one. No Enma herself, though. Eventually, at the end of the battle, after continuously failing to seal the abomination in the new prison we worked to get, the abomination got desperate. It managed to grab the fairy in an attempt to harness her power (the DM later explained after the session that the abomination assumed the fairy still had the key or at least part of it inside her despite everything--assumedly because it was getting its ass kicked and figured that part of its power still had to be locked away), but because of that fairy’s ‘emptiness’, SHE started to act as its unwilling new seal. Its attempt to work its way inside the fairy lead to it being absorbed to fill that newfound emptiness inside her, and in front of us stood the transformed fairy--a pale skinned woman with black veins and red eyes. It was the Daio Enma. That was the campaign’s biggest “Wait, WHAT?!” The entire thing was the origin story for the recurring BBEG of this DM’s campaigns. Despite being filled with eldritch evil now, the fairy managed to keep her mind clear enough to send us out of the now-collapsing Qliphoth. There was a slight bit more to it after that, but that’s the important part to the ending. As a side note, I later asked the DM if the fairy being the Daio Enma was intentional the whole time, because I know that sometimes he tends to write by the seat of his pants. Not only did he confirm that it WAS the intended plan all along, he mentioned that he knew it would work out because he knew that I, specifically, would protect that fairy the whole time because that's just the kinda player I was. DM played me like a damn fiddle.

Your voice Brian. Cool dude concerned about the welfare of others with a talented voice that soothes and relaxes as well as entertains. I'm an ass with a love for confrontation and a few other problems and for a while the usual safe outlets weren't working. Despite trying to control them the place I was in mentally helped me make the decision to make a bigger ass of myself. The damage is done and once more I have to climb back to where I used to be. Binging on your voice has helped to sooth the waves of absolutely irritating wrinkles agitating me from within. Seriously, sometimes I don't listen to what's being said just how it's being said. So thanks to that I'm starting to write again, getting things ready to try and stream as well. Hopefully after moving soon I will have a chance to add my voice to people's projects if they want what I got. [In response to the prompt at the end] this week I finally admitted that I'm not doing as well as I thought and that I need to seriously consider moving somewhere with better support services. This is a huge deal as I've been resisting for at least three years, only pretending to consider it to appease my support team. I'm not happy about it but I know it's what needs to happen.

My party was attempting (and failing) to sneak into a cult lair to rescue some people the had kidnapped. When we reached the cult leader his underlings surrounded us and then he started a monologue so I shot him eldritch blast, this killed him. But then one by one all of the other cult members explode. Turns out just before we started the DM had decided that if the cult leader was killed by magic all remaining cult members would die, he expected we would actually fight the other members instead of going straight for the cult leader

Ooh! Ooh! _I_ have a story. A dragonborn player turned an entire small nation of undead against him. So in my campaign, I put a lot of rules and powers from various fiction in, including FMA:B Alchemy. Major SPOILER ALERT for that anime, BTW. If you are not on season 5 already or want to watch it, watch at least seasons 1-4 before reading this. For those unfamiliar, Alchemy in that series is the magic system of understanding, deconstructing, and reconstructing matter, that obeys conservation of mass and doesn't rip atoms apart to turn cheese into water or something. Anyway, here's the spoilery part, so SPOILER ALERT for season 5 of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood; Some alchemists can use human souls to make Philosopher's Stones (sources of power through which alchemists CAN seemingly break laws of physics by using souls as power), And some can use vast swaths of citizens and points of severe violence to make themselves aging immortal and regenerate even limb severance, albeit only to a point. A very far away one, but conservation of energy. This is a very horrible thing to do, but a Chaotic Evil party becoming mostly immortal at the cost of a big city of people is a logical course of action for them, not an unthinkable crime. So when the resident alchemist found a series of books on soul transmutation by rolling some good investigation rolls, some light massacres and a massive ZAP later, they use clone jiustu to pack up a city of supplies and book out on an airship (this city had those) So next campaign continuation, I revealed that the bodies of most of the city had turned into Revenants, and they'd shipped off to pursue the man who stole their souls. So this guy is doing things in a city, when he sees an Armada of Airships and Gliderplanes have approached from the south, and he is confronted by several hundred guns aiming onto his location.

When my bard friend sang a Cyclopes to death Basically, we were playing a one shot, and we stumbled upon a Cyclopes. So my bard friend, played twinkle twinkle little star to distract them. They rolled a nat 20. Now, since me and all the people around the table were very new to d&d and knew nothing, our dm studded, not knowing what to do, so he said, “Um, you start playing and… the Cyclopes falls down dead” and ever since then, that friend has been called the Cyclopes killer

So i made a two shot for my friends Well not really friends because i know them for less than a week In the first part there was a section with the magical darkness and a lantern that keeps it away in a tiny radius So the party is bound to stay close together As they explored the dungeon i set up a good horror atmosphere for them And then they faced one custom monster i made specifically for this encounter It was basically an aberration that chomped on people and used psychic attacks and could go ioff into the darkness making it practically invisible After it nearly killed the monk taking a chomp out of his ass it ran away into the darkness They thought they were fine for a moment Druid decided to heal the party And then IT appeared and attacked our rogue Right after that she stabbed this thing. Nat 20 She stabbed this boss right in the one and only eyeball dealing over 60 damage and killing it in one hit I wasn't expecting that But oh boy i loved it

Mine would be while we where fighting the BBEG and we didn't know about. The setting was a low magic world with premedieval society in which the only way to learn magic was being affiliated with the Church. Back to the scene, we where infiltrating in the castle to recover the McGuffin, and we where tricked to meet the lord, combat starts and a fight like no other we had is literally killing ourselves, all enemies ar resistant to non magical damage, they have like 4 or 6 CR6 mages (luckily they didn't fight much do to the ritual they where making) yet we manage to take down the lord, just to find how he emerges from the flames transforming into a gargantuan mass of melted flesh and fire. On that moment the face of every player was "wait what the fuck?!" and that aberration makes a TPK, no the best moment but I can't take it from my mind

Im writing my own campaign with Cthulhu as the end bad guy. But to level them up i put them through a TPK and sending them all to hell. (doing a Dante's inferno storyline) They are now in the 7th circle (violence) while they were in the second ring (violence against yourself) they must go through false memories. They need to make a Int. DC save to experience the real memories. The "wait what" moment came when the players failed the dc save and restarts the memory. I go a second "wait what" moment when i told my players that the first PC heard his own voice coming from the shadows. Tomorrow they will have to fight their Doppelganger selves who wield Mimic-swords and i think more "wait what" moments will insue when the mimic-swords bites their PCs.

This is both a plot twist and a wait what moment in my current campaign. The players are a bunch of travellers who are also diplomats in their respective area's. In one scene they had to do a politic meeting in the main grand hall chamber. This is where they met a man called Kira a human who had a curse which whenever he or his family kill a dragon they became more draconic themselves. through the session any time the hero's made a comment he would back them up and agree with their words. The players liked Kira a lot saying he was a "cool dude" and "badass" as he spoke his mind and called out other politicians. After a small time skip later on in the story there came another meeting for them to attended. Kira spoke up on how corrupt and unhinged all the other members were and said if they dont get serious he will act. After the meeting the players then ran into Kira's son who tells them Kira is creating a machine to bring his wife back to life. (The wife being the original cursed one who turned into a white dragon) and then he would turn this machine onto everyone else killing all the "corrupted people" This is where the NPC my players loved and agreed with all this time was the main villain. Their jaws hit the table and they couldn't believe it the room was silent until i continued the story.

I gave my DM one of these moments when I joked about using the way way ruled Shadow step as working (melting in, and out of shadows), to leap off a shady cliff with his BBEG, and use it to negate fall damage. Because why would I take fall damage if my momentum isn’t downward anymore?

The party is going after the arch bbeg a bardic litch, whom they managed to catch by surprise. Thinking that the bards philactory is in his stronghold across the country they push to kill the bard knowing he'll come back but not being able to stop them from fouling up whatever scheme he'd cooked up. They finished him off saved the day and went to the tavern to celebrate. At the tavern they requested what has become their theme song to be played...slowly the music gets louder and louder. People start passing out or going Crazy and the bard who was playing the song can't stop his instrument from playing even when he is attempting to smash his lute. Reaching out of the broken instrument the lich rizes again for round two. The lich came back right on top of them because he made his philactory every piece of music he ever wrote

my hear wait what moment is when our war claric level 2 pushed my half elf wizard down a hole. it was very deep took the party a full day to walk down it. but thanks to some magic left by the supposed big bad when he left a clue down there he left mist at the bottoms that would slow any one falling to a gentle stop. but let's just say my wizard caused them all the way down. after rolling to fall backwards to flip his party off

Alright. I’m sorry if this is to long. I just joined this campaign like a month or two ago and it’s been a whole blast. In my very first session it was all about introducing my character, her family, some of her backstory, etc, etc. Well we have a villain named Mycar who is like a mafia boss in a way. He is also Archer’s, one of our characters, biggest enemy because they fought in a war together and crap and Mycar betrayed Archer’s team and gave away their location. So during my characters session she was grounded for using magic outside. It’s illegal to use magic at all in the city where this story is based off of and non-human individuals are discriminated against. Well my character was found using magic and was bailed out but was grounded by her father. Though she was eventually let off of the hook. So she was called for dinner went downstairs and saw…Mycar. It turns out that Mycar is my characters uncle. I swear y’all should have seen the face of Archer’s player. His mouth was open the entire time a convo was happening with my character and Mycar 🤣🤣. And the characters didn’t have a fun time finding out Mycar was her uncle I’m telling you lol.

This was the biggest wait what moment was when are peaceful cliric strait up said they would kill this person. So story 3 time playing the campaign, and we were exploring this abandoned, town and find this person apart of this cult, we could of got her to help us in this fight coming up instead Tink the cleric, decided to kill her because she lied to her, so we have a "peaceful" cleric who hates lies, but the bigger wait what moment then comes in the next session was when we were done cleaning out the keep, the friends of the girl we killed showed up, our rouge, who is very much a male, proceeded to pretendend to be her, and by the power of nat20 it worked, he litterly clamed that she was trapped in a tower and could not lower the gate so 'she' needed them to help, but they don't have rope so what did our rouge do,.he said to take of your clothes so to make some rope, they did a fight ment to push us to our lit was incredibly easy because we got them to remove there armor and we proceeded shoot them full of arrows, the worst part is his charisma score was the lowest in the group.

Does collapsing the only way out of a underground, potentially heading undersea, tunnel on an island count? Because that's what my party's extremely dumb alchemist did. Basically he keeps trying to use bombs in enclosed spaces. With rather bad results. The first time was when we were looking for the townsfolk in a secret chamber located under the Chief's home. Three of the four members of my party, including mine, are from this locale too. The Alchemist, however, is not. So what's the first thing he does upon entering the dark room? Not pull out and light a torch, not see if anyone has any safe spell that casts light..... Oh no.... He pulls out a vial of alchemist fire and tosses it into the darkness, lighting a table full of very important looking papers on fire. Then we split up to look for clues. He finds a narrow area that looks like it leads into a bigger cave system. What does he do? Uses a bomb to try and open the way, collapses it instead. Looking down the other path, he falls down some worn stone steps, forcing the rest of the party to have to find him. We locate the spot, and it's the only place he could have gone, as there are tracks leading to it but not away. We tie two 50 foot ropes together and then to a stalagmite, and try to make our way down safely. My character fails her climb and dex checks (she's kinda an introverted sorceress, so not much exercise.) and our Alchemist fails his dex to catch her, launching her into an underground river. Our fighter, meanwhile, expertly goes down the rope, ties a third rope to the spot, and allows for safe passage back up. But now they have to find the little feline sorceress. So they follow the river. After hearing some sounds, our alchemist gets the bright idea to toss a bomb behind him, as he is the last in the group trailing behind. ..... Well, they got rid of the pursuers.... But now the cave is collapsed, meaning no way back up the way we came. Even worse, this Alchemist doesn't want to find the exist, he wants to go DEEPER. I've already told the GM that this campaign has earned the title "A Series of Unfortunate Decisions."due to the Alchemist's player.
